Abstract

Paracetamol or acetaminophen is a class of over-the-counter drugs widely used by the general public to treat fever and mild pain. The study aimed to determine the effect of forced degradation by hydrolysis on paracetamol levels using Uv-Vis Spectrophotometry. This type of research is experimental with the method used is Uv-Vis Spectrophotometry which is carried out at a wavelength of 200-400 nm. The results obtained from the study in the form of a linear regression equation y=0,0652x + 0,0269 with a value of R2 = 0,9938. Furthermore, paracetamol without degradation was 90,40%, while paracetamol with degradation was 87,98%. It was concluded that there was a decrease in the levels of paracetamol treated with degradation, so it was stated that there was an indication of the effect of forced degradation by hydrolysis of paracetamol. The advice given by the researcher is to develop further research related to validation methods and degradation studies in determining the levels of paracetamol tablets.

Abstract

Porang tubers are one of the tubers that have special features compared to other tubers. Porang tubers contain glucomannan which has many health benefits. Glucomannan is a polysaccharide compound and contains high fiber. People have not been able to consume porang tubers directly because they contain high concentration of calcium oxalate. Soaking porang tubers in lime solution can help lower calcium oxalate levels. In addition to the content of glucomannan and calcium oxalate, proximate levels in porang tubers also need to be analyzed to determine the quality of processed porang tubers. In this study, an analysis of proximate levels in porang tubers was carried out before and after soaking in lime solution. The proximate levels of porang tubers before and after soaking with lime solution did not differ much. Porang tubers that have been dried for 6 days have a lower water content and higher carbohydrate content than tubers that have been dried for 4 days. Likewise, porang tubers that have been dried at 70 °C have a lower moisture content and higher carbohydrate content than tubers dried at 60 °C.

Abstract

Vitamin C is one of the vitamins needed by the body that acts as an antioxidant to form a defense against free radicals. One of the fruits that contain vitamin C is pineapple. Pineapple is one of the most popular types of fruit. One of the most popular processed pineapple fruit is pineapple chips. This study aimed to determine the differences in the content of vitamin C in pineapple fruit and chips. The analytical method used to determine vitamin C levels is UV-Vis Spectrophotometry because this method is quite accurate and more efficient and produces high accuracy and precision. The results of this study are the linearity test obtained a linear regression equation, namely y = 0.0363x + 0.0687 with a value of R² = 0.993. Successively obtained the average level of pineapple fruit is 0.191 %w/w, brand A pineapple chip is 0.099 %w/w, and pineapple chips brand B is 0.111 %w/w. Based on the results of statistical tests, it is known that there are differences in vitamin C levels in pineapple and pineapple chips.

Abstract

Kampung Tanah Kali Kedinding Surabaya dikenal sebagai Kampung Si Ahong dan Kampung Sayur. Setiap rumah warga di perkampungan ini memiliki tanaman hias, tanaman obat serta penggalakan budidaya tanaman binahong yang terkenal akan manfaat kesehatannya. Dalam budidaya tanaman, serangan serangga hama seringkali menjadi masalah yang sering dihadapi. Masyarakat biasanya mengandalkan penggunaan pestisida kimia untuk mengatasi hama dan penyakit yang merusak pertanaman. Namun, pestisida kimia memiliki dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan warga dalam pembuatan pestisida nabati berbahan dasar daun binahong sebagai alternatif pengendalian hama yang ramah lingkungan. Metode Pengmas yang dilakukan antara lain metode pemaparan, demonstrasi, sesi diskusi, serta pengisian pretest dan postest. Hasil Pengmas menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman warga dari 24% menjadi 100%. Harapan dari hasil kegiatan Pengmas ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan warga dalam mengadopsi inovasi teknologi dalam pengendalian hama tanaman dengan membuat pestisida nabati yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of lead concentration in eyeliner cosmetics in Surabaya city. Eyeliner is one of the cosmetics that is applied to the eye line, therefore the ingredients contained in it must be safe. Cosmetic eyeliner totaled 6 samples with different trademarks were collected by purposive sampling method. The cosmetic eyeliner samples were digested wet with aqua regia and heavy metal analysis of lead was performed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) at a wavelength of 283.3 nm. BPOM of Indonesian Republic decides the limit of heavy metals allowed in cosmetics is 20 mg/kg. All samples in this study were found to contain lead metal exceeding the specified limits. The highest lead levels were found in sample E, which was 180.1188 ppm. The results show that cosmetic eyeliner products are exposed to dangerous heavy metals and may have a risk to the health of users because metals can accumulate in the body.
