Abstract

This study focus on directive as Found in the Message Film. It tells about kind of directive in Message Film Moustopha Akkad. The aims of this research are: (1) to find illocutionary Directive speech act as found in the Message Film (2)to find types of directivespeech in the Message Film byMoustopha Akkad. The data of this research is dialogues of Message filmMoustopha Akkad.hutang budiThis research uses qualitative research as method and it has 3 procedures; they are collecting data, analyzing the data and data presentation. In collecting the data, it used observation method from Sudaryanto (1993) as main method where uses non-participant observational method. The technique of collecting the data, itused download , watchingand note taking technique method. In analyzing the data, the data the writer uses Sudaryanto‘s theory, it is referential. The last procedure is data presentation is presented by using informal as Sudaryanto’s method.As John Searle’s theory has been used, the writer gets the result of the analysis found 4 kinds of directive uttered in Message Film Moustopha Akkad.. There are 46 data involve command24 data (52,17%), 11 data (23,91%) belong to suggestion, 7 data (15,21%) belong to warning,and4 data (8,69%) belong to request.Key word:speech Act, context, illocutionary, directive

Abstract

This research studies about connotative meaning that found in journalistic language. The aims of this research are to explain the connotative meaning and to find out the kinds of connotative meaning of journalistic language on Tribunews online.com (Politics Issues) which the result concluded based on Leech’s (1981) and Parera’s (2004) theories.The method that used in this research is descriptive – qualitative method which is all data analyzed in non-statistical. The data is analyzed through referential technique which is the tool device is outside. In this research, the writer do not involved in the appearance the data, the writer only becomes observers and does the research by downloading and classify the news articles about politic which contain connotative meaning. The results of this research showed that each use of connotative meaning in writing journalistic language can stimulate the reader’s feeling, either stimulate positive or negative stimulation. The writer found mostly the using of connotative is negative connotation which can be seen there are 11 negative connotations and 7 positive connotations of 18 data consist of words and phrases. Keyword: Connotative Meaning, Journalistic Language, and Politic Issues.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the utterances of traders in the Atas market and Bawah markets of Muara Bungo, which have a good politeness value. In this study, researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach in which data results were based on existing observations and interpretations. The data studied were the stories of traders recorded in the Atas and Bawah markets of Muara Bungo. After recording the data is transcribed and grouped based on the type of speaker. After that, the data will be analyzed in terms of compliance with and violations of the principles of decency according to Leech theory. The realization of courtesy of the Atas market traders and the Bawah markets in Muara Bungo both have a good politeness value. Through the author's observations, the Atas market traders are more friendly than the Bawah market.

Abstract

YouTube is a video sharing website that is growing rapidly among the public. Children to adults love to watch YouTube. They can freely search for any videos they want. Comment pages are also available for those who want to provide responses to the video. Sometimes comments from netizens are not only positive but can also be negative. Negative comments are given in the form of hate speech. In understanding of the hate speech an understanding of the context is needed. Pragmatics is a language science that talks about context. Context is very closely related to politeness. The hate speech is utterances that violate the rules of politeness. The using of hate speech by the Barbie Kumalasari’s haters proved to violate of politeness principle. The purpose of this study was to describe the form of violation of politeness principle carried out by the Barbie Kumalasari haters. Data was obtained from comments of YouTube channel netizens on the Rumpi No Secret program which featured Barbie Kumalasari as a guest star. This research is qualitative research that use pragmatic discourse analysis. There are several forms the violations of politeness principle performed by the haters of Barbie Kumalasari including: approbation maxim and agreement maxim.

Abstract

The cooperative principle proposed by Grice stated “make your contribution such as is required, at the stage at which it occurs, by the accepted purpose or direction of the talk exchange in which you are engaged”, but in the real life communication, this principle was often being flouted which was known as flouting maxim. This research aimed to describe the flouting maxim phenomenon in one of Indonesian Social Media,Tik Tok Application. From the analysis of the collected data, the writers found that some conversation of netizens in the comment page in Popo Barbie Tik Tok account contained flouting maxim, whether it is flouting maxim of quantity, quality, relevance, and also manner. When the flouting maxim happened, it contained certain implicature, in which the speaker intended to deliver certain implicit message, such as assuring the hearer, and giving mocking”

Abstract

Wardhaugh in Chaer and Agustina distinguishes two types of language change: internal and external change. Internal changes occur from within the language itself, such as phonological, morphological, or syntactic changes. External changes occur due to outside influences, such as borrowing or absorption of vocabulary, the addition of phonemes from other languages and so on. The purpose of this research is (1) to analyse the language change that can be found in mass media and social media. (2) to analyse the social context that can be found in mass media and social media. The method used in this research is the qualitative method. The data was taken from Padang Express newspaper and Facebook. From the analysis there are so many languages change that can be found in mass and social media. Many people change the language when they used it in mass and social media.
