Abstract

Improvement in student learning outcomes depends on the lecturer's ability to use media in the learning process. The availability of adequate media can certainly make learning not only interesting but also effective. The Dart board learning media is one of the media that needs to be developed because it can be used in Herbal Botany learning. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The purpose of this research approach is to analyze the ability and effectiveness of the learning media using the dart board. This type of research aims to produce a dart board learning media that is valid, effective, and practical. This research follows the 4-D model of development. The results show that the average pre-test score of students before using the dart board learning media was <56, but after using the dart board learning media, the average post-test score of students increased to >79. Thus, learning using the Dart board media in the Herbal Botany course can increase enthusiasm and improve student learning outcomes. Keywords: Learning Media, PBL, Dart board

Abstract

The application of information and communication technology in the learning process must be modified to answer global demands as a response to the needs of the industrial revolution in the 21st century, where humans and technology are aligned to create new opportunities creatively and innovatively. One form of learning modification is by designing learning media that attracts students' interest in learning so that their learning outcomes are maximized. E-module is one of the teaching media which is a multimedia development solution to facilitate students' understanding in today's learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of implementing e-modules based on project based learning on student learning outcomes. This type of research is quantitative research using pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study was a 3rd semester biology class consisting of 20 students. The types of research instruments used were questionnaires and essay tests. The data found were then analyzed using the normalized N Gain test to determine the effectiveness of the application of e-modules on student learning outcomes with the help of the SPSS version 23 application. The results of the study showed that the N-Gain value was 66.78, which means that the application of e-modules based on project based learning is quite effective on student learning outcomes

Abstract

Daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) tergolong rempah-rempah tonikum dalam kuliner dan juga sering digunakan sebagai bumbu dapur. Pemanfaatan daun kemangi biasanya digunakan langsung sebagai rempah-rempah untuk memberikan cita rasa khas pada masakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) dengan persentase berbeda terhadap kualitas fisik dan organoleptik nugget ikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari pemberian ekstrak daun kemangi dengan persentase berbeda yaitu P1: 2,5%, P2: 5%, dan P3: 7,5%. Setelah nugget dikukus matang dan disimpan pada frezer selama 24 jam, selanjutnya dilakukan pengukuran kualitas fisik dan organoleptik. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa penambahan daun kemangi memberikan pengaruh nyata (P˂0,05) terhadap susut masak, nilai pH, aroma, ikatan rasa, dan aroma kemangi nugget ikan. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) sebesar 5% efektif memperbaiki dan mempertahankan mutu fisik dan organoleptik nugget ikan

Abstract

Transmission of Escherichia coli in food can occur through contact with infected workers, as well as tools and materials used during food processing. One way to determine the presence of E.coli in processed fish balls is to perform a bacteriological test. The purpose of this study was to detect the presence or absence of bacteria in fish balls so that it can be seen whether these meatballs are in the hygienic category and are suitable for consumption or not. This type of research is a laboratory experiment. This research was conducted at the Maluku Provincial Health Laboratory on 26-28 January 2022. The sample used in this study was fish balls taken by purposive sampling (taken according to research needs) for laboratory testing. Based on the results above, it shows that the E.coli bacteria found in the meatball samples during the phenotyping test with Vitek 2 compact both at a dilution of 10-1 to 10-3 were not identified because they had not passed the maximum limit. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the fish balls made by service participants in Mamala country were still in accordance with the criteria of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No.7388:2009 regarding the maximum limit of E.coli bacterial contamination in processed meat products made by the government for the protection of consumers regarding the quality of the product in circulation and declared to meet the requirements for the maximum threshold of microbial contamination in food if the value is 3/g for the status fit for consumption. The condition of the value of the test results of the fish balls sample under study is due to the fact that food makers or processors when processing fish balls still use the correct sanitation and hygiene principles and according to procedures.

Abstract

Blended learning is a mixed learning model between face-to-face and online learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence and magnitude of the influence of the application of STEM-based blended learning on increasing scientific literacy and cognitive abilities and the responses of class XII students at SMA Negeri 11 Ambon in the new normal period. The type of research used was a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 11 Ambon from December 2021 to January 2022. The research subjects were 36 students in class XII MIA-4 in the 2021-2022 academic year. The results showed that there was an effect of applying blended learning with the STEM approach to increasing scientific literacy and students' cognitive abilities. The average scientific literacy ability of students from the application of blended learning with the STEM approach has a percentage of 86.53% in the very high category, while students' cognitive abilities obtained an average N-gain value of 67.48% indicating that the use of blended learning models with the STEM approach is quite effective for improving cognitive outcomes in class XII students of SMA Negeri 11 Ambon. Keywords: Blended Learning, STEM, Literacy, Cognitive

Abstract

Karies gigi adalah suatu penyakit yang dapat dialami oleh seseorang akibat buruknya kebersihan mulut. Kebiasaan masyarakat yang kurang menjaga kebersihan mulut mengakibatkan terbentuknya plak gigi. Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, berbagai produsen pasta gigi membuat inovasi untuk menambahkan zat lain yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan gigi. Salah satu diantaranya serbuk cangkang kima dan ekstrak daun cengkeh. Penambahan herbal pada pasta  gigi diharapkan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan plak. Plak pada gigi terbentuk karena aktivitas dari berbagai macam mikroorganisme di mulut. Mikroorganisme yang diketahui terlibat dalam pembentukan karies gigi adalah Streptococcus mutans. Salah satu bahan alternatif sebagai antibakteri adalah daun cengkeh. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui potensi antibakterial pasta gigi herbal berbahan dasar limbang cangkang kima dengan tambahan ekstrak daun cengkeh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen laboratorium dengan rancangan penelitian post test control group design terhadap aktivitas antibakterial streptococcus mutans secara in vitro. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2023. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Perikanan Universitas Pattimura Ambon. Data hasil pengukuran yang diperoleh diukur secara berulang untuk setiap perlakuan kemudian dianalisis dengan uji one way Anova. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa F hitung ˃ F tabel, artinya seluruh perlakuan efektif dalam menghambat aktivitas bakteri Streptococcus mutans dengan formula C atau kosentrasi ekstrak daun cengkeh 15% memiliki efektifitas terbaik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Streptococcus mutans serta mampu memperbaiki karies gigi.

Abstract

The utilization of skipjack tuna bone waste from this community service activity aims to raise awareness of the Laha Village community in Ambon Bay about the importance of preserving the surrounding environment in order to avoid environmental pollution in the form of bad odors from fish bone waste that is simply thrown away. This fish bone waste can come from households or home industries. The method used in this community service is Observation, participation and training. This community service was attended by 41 people consisting of lecturers and the surrounding community and was carried out smoothly according to the prepared activity plan. This fish bone flour making training activity can increase the empowerment of the local community to become more independent in utilizing fish bone waste that has economic value so that it can increase family income.

Abstract

Objek wisata yang bersih dan bebas kotoran menjadi harapan semua wisatawan yang berkunjung. Namun wisatawan sendiri masih belum memiliki kesadaran dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan objek wisata. Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya wisatawan yang membuang sampah sembarangan terutama sampah plastik minuman dan makanan sekali pakai. Tujuan kegiatan coastal cleanup untuk membersihkan pesisir pantai dan memberikan teladan secara langsung kepada pengunjung. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dibagi menjadi tiga tahap terdiri dari tahap pra kegiatan, inti kegiatan dan pasca kegiatan. Alat kegiatan coastal cleanup yang diperlukan terdiri dari wadah sampah, timbangan, kamera dan alat tulis. Hasil dari kegiatan coastal cleanup ini berhasil mengumpulkan 8 kantong dengan total berat 62.400 gram sampah plastik yang seluruhnya merupakan sampah sekali pakai yang dibuang sembarangan pada wilayah pesisir objek wisata. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara singkat terhadap kegiatan coastal cleanup, mampu meningkatkan kesadaran pengunjung untuk tidak lagi membuang samapah sembarangan. Kagiatan seperti ini perlu ditingkatkan karena memberikan dampak nyata untuk menjaga lingkugan pesisir dan laut serta meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat

Abstract

Banda nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt) is one of the native species of Maluku that has various benefits other than as a cooking spice. Nutmeg, especially its fruit, offers significant advantages in the medical field as a natural dermatological product, effectively treating skin infections caused by pathogens. One such bacterial infection is pyoderma, characterized by the presence of pus-producing bacteria, leading to the formation of pustules or greenish-yellow crusts upon examination. Among the bacteria responsible for skin infections, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are notable bacterial species that cause skin infections. The active compounds found in nutmeg act as antibacterial agents by interfering with the peptidoglycan components within bacterial cells. This interference results in the formation of intact cell walls, ultimately leading to bacterial cell death. This study aimed to identify the bioactive profile of Maluku nutmeg extract metabolites and assess their inhibitory effects on pathogenic bacteria, specifically P. aeruginosa and MRSA, responsible for skin infections. The study revealed the presence of various bioactive compounds in nutmeg extract, including alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenols, and tannins. Notably, the application of nutmeg pulp at an 80% concentration proved highly effective in inhibiting bacterial growth, surpassing the efficacy of the positive control. The enhanced effectiveness against MRSA, compared to P. aeruginosa, can be attributed to the higher concentration of secondary metabolites present in nutmeg extracts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh strategi Blended Learning yang mengintegrasikan pendekatan synchronous dan asynchronous terhadap hasil belajar dan self-efficacy mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Pengembangan Kurikulum Biologi. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen, dengan melibatkan dua kelas mahasiswa semester lima program studi Pendidikan Biologi: satu kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan Blended Learning dan satu kelas kontrol yang diajar dengan metode tatap muka konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui ujian tengah semester, ujian akhir semester, tugas, dan kuesioner self-efficacy. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan analisis varians multivariat (MANOVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa pada kelompok Blended Learning memiliki hasil belajar dan tingkat self-efficacy yang secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok yang belajar melalui metode tradisional. Pendekatan synchronous memberikan umpan balik secara langsung dan mendorong interaksi aktif, sedangkan pendekatan asynchronous memungkinkan pembelajaran yang fleksibel dan mandiri. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggabungan kedua pendekatan dalam lingkungan Blended Learning memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pencapaian akademik dan kepercayaan diri mahasiswa dalam mengelola proses belajarnya secara mandiri.
