Abstract

This study was carried out as one part of comprehensive research project aimed to increase sustainable management of forests and peatlands in Indonesia in order to increase the carbon sequestration capacity and community incomes.  The specific aim of the study was to  calculate  total value carbon gained as impact of various interventions in area of Ex-PLG Blok A, Mentangai, Central Kalimantan.  Estimation on carbon stock was conducted by Sample Plot of Measurement (PCP).  The interventions in this study was cannal blocking.  The study showed that activity of cannal blocking resulted in a positive impact, indicated by the present of reduction carbon rate (both above and below ground carbon), as well as carbon content by tree plantation (43,451 ha). Based on result of calculation, the amount of obtained above ground carbon stock was 14,448 ton C.  Carbon stock found in the tree plantation in surrounding the cannal was 0,777 ton C.  Below ground carbon stock was ranged between 550,782 ton C to 2,223,424 ton C. Total above ground and below ground carbon stock were 2,541,222.78 ton C or equal to 9,317,816.85 ton CO2.

Abstract

Environmental education is one of the initiatives to provide the school students with environmental awareness. Adiwiyata is a program which aims to create an environmentally friendly and cultured school. This program is conducted on the basis of three main principles, namely education, participation and sustainability. All school residents are expected to have the character and culture of the environment in daily activities, both at school and at home. To reach Adiwiyata School, every school must manage environmentally friendly supporting facilities. Greening the school environment is one form of adiwiyata activities in Kedewan Village. This activity was conducted at two locations namely SDN Kedewan 1 and SMPN 1 Kedewan. The purpose of this activity is to establish a fertile and beautiful family medicinal plant garden and to increase awareness of the school community regarding the benefits of family medicinal plants, as well as a form of development towards the Adiwiyata school. Abstract

Tingginya jumlah populasi penduduk Indonesia menyebabkan meningkatnya limbah/sampah organik rumah tangga. Limbah organik tersebut mempunyai potensi untuk diolah menjadi ekoenzim yang dapat meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman. Saat ini sejumlah petani di Desa Sugihwaras, Kecamatan Maospati, Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur memiliki keterbatasan dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan pupuk anorganik (NPK) untuk tanaman mereka. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihan pembuatan ekoenzim, menganalisis perubahan pengetahuan mitra tentang pembuatan ekoenzim, serta menganalisis pengaruh aplikasi ekoenzim untuk peningkatan pertumbuhan tanaman pada sistem agroforestri jati (Tectona grandis). Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada Kelompok Tani Subur di Desa Sugihwaras, Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur pada tahun 2022. Metode yang digunakan adalah demonstrasi pembuatan ekoenzim, pemberian pre-test dan post-test kepada 20 anggota kelompok tani, serta pengukuran secara langsung pertumbuhan diameter tanaman jati dan tinggi tanaman rumput gajah. Pelatihan pembuatan ekoenzim pada sistem agroforestri jati mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan Kelompok Tani Subur. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan oleh nilai rata-rata pre-test adalah 45,1 sedangkan nilai rata-rata post-test adalah 90,5. Berdasarkan evaluasi penilaian kegiatan pelatihan, sebanyak 74,3% anggota kelompok tani menyatakan sangat setuju bahwa pelatihan pembuatan ekoenzim sangat bermanfaat dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan kelompok tani. Berdasarkan evaluasi program, pelatihan pembuatan ekoenzim termasuk pada kategori sangat layak untuk diimplementasikan dengan nilai 94%. Pelatihan pembuatan ekoenzim kepada Kelompok Tani Subur terbukti mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra, meningkatkan pertumbuhan diameter tanaman jati dan tinggi tanaman rumput gajah, serta berpotensi dalam peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat Desa Sugihwaras, Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur.

Abstract

Private forests cultivated using agroforestry systems have the potential to produce timber, non-timber forest products, and a variety of agricultural crops. However, such forests are still being managed in a traditional manner, both in terms of cultivation techniques and management. The Service activities of the Dosen Pulang Kampung Program specifically aimed to introduce an innovative tree felling technique called the sandat technique, which minimizes the risk of damage to understory vegetation. The method used in this program is service learning, which integrates academic learning with community service through training sessions (both theoretical and practical). The results show that community forest farmers and loggers have understood this technique, recognizing it as a newly introduced method that they find highly beneficial and are eager to adopt in their forest-management practices. Consequently, they expressed their intention to adopt it for managing community forests. This innovation has started to demonstrate increased knowledge, a shift in attitudes (towards adoption), and satisfaction with the program itself. The Sandat Technique is thus critical to becoming a policy in community forest management and should be disseminated by the forestry office/branch to community forest farmers for adoption in the future.
