Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that caused of decreasing insulin production at Pancreatic β cell or insulin production which not effective. The purpose of this research was proving catappa’s leaves extract (Terminalia catappa L) have an activity to decrease blood glucose levels trough diabetics on effective doses. The prominent goal may achieved was obtaining efficacious natural medicine of anti-diabetes and knowing the effective doses of catappa’s leaves extract (Terminalia catappa L) as anti-diabetes. This Anti-hyperglycemic research is using mice as many as 30 mice. The activity experiment of anti-diabetes was executed to 6 treatment groups, there are Group I (normal control), Group II negative control (alloxan induced 180 mg/kgBW and aquadest), Group III (alloxan induced and catappa’s leaves extract 75 mg/kgBW), Group IV (alloxan induced and catappa’s leaves extract 150 mg / kgBW), Group V (alloxan induced and catappa’s leaves extract 300 mg/kgBW), and Group VI (positive control that given by alloxan induced and glibenclamide 10mg/kgBW). All of the treatment group was given with that treatment for 14 days and were carried measurement of blood glucose levels on days 0, 3, 10, 17. The leaf extract anti-diabetes activities shown by calculating hypoglycemic capacity of each treatment. The result of this research showed that the ethanol extract of catappa’s leaves have anti-hyperglycemic activities on mice that alloxan induced. At the doses of ethanol extract of leaves of catappa 300 mg/kgBW have effectively anti-hyperglycemic activities than doses of 150 mg/kgBW and 75 mg/kgBW that was comparable with positive control group

Abstract

ABSTRACTIbuprofen is a derivative of propionic acid, a class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Ibuprofen has side effects on the gastrointestinal tract. So that topical use can be a solution to reduce the side effects of oral use because of the release of topical drugs through the stratum corneum which makes it selective in certain places. The preparation chosen was a topical microemulsion because it is more thermodynamically stable and has no effect on the gastrointestinal tract. This study aims to determine the effect of the ratio of surfactant concentrations of various ratios of tween 20:tween 80 and cosurfactant propylene glycol to the penetration rate of ibuprofen across the membrane and to determine the physical characteristics of topical microemulsions. Selection of tween surfactant and propylene glycol cosurfactant because it has high physical stability. This research is an experimental study, namely by making four formulations with various ratios of surfactant and cosurfactant with a difference of 2.5% in each formulation of topical ibuprofen microemulsion with a concentration of 5% ibuprofen using variations of surfactant tween 20 and tween 80, cosurfactant propylene glycol with black cumin oil phase. Evaluation of the preparation by organoleptic test, pH test of the preparation, examination of the type of emulsion, particle size measurement, microemulsion release test in vitro using the Franz diffusion method. The results show that the concentration ratio of surfactant tween 20:tween 80 and cosurfactant propylene glycol can affect particle size, pH and penetration velocity (flux) in Franz diffusion. The results of the study showed that in F1 using surfactant tween 20:tween 80 with a concentration of 71.6% (6:4) had the smallest particle size of 11.5 nm and the largest flux value was 128.45 g.cm-2.H- 1. In conclusion, variations in surfactant and cosurfactant concentrations can affect the pH of the preparation, particle size, penetration speed (flux). The results obtained that the cumulative percent and penetration speed of all formulas had significant differences (p0.05).

Abstract

Abstract

Corticosteroids are drugs that contain synthetic steroid hormones. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection is a sterile preparation where a sterile preparation when opened will be exposed to air and microorganism in the surrounding environment, so that drug levels and potency will decrease. The use of steroid injection includes the use that is often used in hospitals and makes stock increase, this increase in preparations which often makes expired preparations will increase and become a problem in every hospital. This study aimed to determine the effect of storage at room temperature and refrigerator temperature on the level and physical quality of dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection before and after expiration. This study used dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection before and after expiration. The raw material for dexamethasone sodium phosphate is listed on the COA, 2022. The injection was stored at room temperature (<300C) and refrigerator temperature (2-80C) within 14 days, then organoleptic observation, pH test, and assay were carried out using UV-VIS Spectrophotometry. Quantitative analysis was carried out by comparing the levels of dexamethasone injection before and after the expiration date based on the linear regression chart and the paired sample t-test. The results obtained show that storage at room temperature and refrigerator temperature does not affect organoleptic observations, pH at the levels of dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection before and after expiration. Testing of dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection levels before and after expiration at room temperature storage (<300C) did not have a significant difference, while dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection levels before and after expiration at refrigerator temperature storage (2-80C) had a significant difference.
