Abstract

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa) is susceptible to damage during storage including quantity and quality. Rice during storage for a long time will experience a decrease in quality both chemically and physically. This study was aims to determine the chemical and physical properties of rice attacked by lice (Sitophyllus oryzae sp). The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with treatments in the form of samples of commercial rice, rice free of lice, rice attacked by lice. and by product of lice-attacted rice. The study consisted of 4 treatments with 6 replications. The data will be statistically tested using the SPSS 25 application. All data are further processed with the Least Significant Difference Test (BNT/LSD) at the 5% level. The chemical properties of rice infested with lice cause an increase in moisture content, lower protein content and total starch content. The physical properties of rice attacked by lice caused a decrease in water absorption, oil absorption and whiteness. The results showed that rice that was attacked by pests with moisture content of 13.23%, crude protein content 4.90%, total starch content 73.82%, water absorption capacity of 2.09 g/g, oil absorption capacity of 1.93 g/g and whiteness of 80.23.

Abstract

Sengon (Falcataria moluccana) is a fast-growing species widely planted in Industrial Plantation Forests (IPF/HTI) and has high economic value. The provision of planting material must be well prepared and planned to get the appropriate nursery planting media composition. The Empty Palm Oil Bunches (EFB) biochar application improves soil's chemical and physical properties to provide nutrients for plants. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of EFB biochar on the growth of sengon roots. The experimental design was completely randomized (CRD) by applying four treatment levels and 20 repetitions. The treatments were (A) 100% soil (control), (B) 5% EFB biochar, (C) 10% EFB biochar, and (D) 15% EFB biochar. The data were then analyzed by analysis of variance to see the effect of the treatment on the observed root growth parameters, followed by the 5% Least Significant Difference (LSD) further test to determine differences between treatments. The parameters observed were root length, root volume, root wet weight, and root dry weight. The result showed that the application of EFB biochar increased the growth of sengon roots compared to the control. The greater the dose of the addition of EFB biochar given to the growing media, the more it showed a positive response in improving the growth of sengon roots. In this study, the 15% dose showed the best results compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Kampung Kopi is a company that runs in processing various types of coffee products, with the name of the product is Kopi Rigis. Kopi Rigis is a ground coffee product that is still developing with product distribution still limited to certain areas. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine consumer attitude towards the attributes of Kopi Rigis to be used as a consideration for product development strategy. This research was conducted using the Fishbein Multiattribute method to determine the level of consumer belief and evaluation, also the importance performance analysis method to determine the level of importance and performance level of consumers on the attributes of Kopi Rigis products. The results of the attitude scores for each attribute are; 16.20 for the taste, 17.34 for the aroma, 12.84 for the variant, 15.38 for the price, and 14.83 for the packaging. While the results of the importance performance analysis shows the attributes of Kopi Rigis obtained a total value of 20.57 for the importance level and 15.58 for the performance level. Consumer attitudes as a whole attribute of Kopi Rigis is neutral with a total attitude value of 76.59. The taste and aroma attributes were assessed positively with an attitude value of 16.20 for the taste attribute and 17.34 for the aroma attribute. Meanwhile, the variant, price, and packaging attributes showed a neutral attitude with an attitude value of 12.84 for the variant attribute, 15.38 for the price attribute, and 14.83 for the packaging attribute. Attributes of Kopi Rigis that included in Quadrant I are the price, because these attribute are considered important in influencing consumers to buy the products and it is requiring an adjustment. The taste and aroma are included in Quadrant II, while the variant and packaging are included in Quadrant III.
