Abstract

Peat fire is one of the most environmental issues in Indonesia, particularly in the region of South Sumatra. The fires usually occur during the dry season from Juni to November. This study is designed to evaluate the impact of peat fires on changes in land cover in the Merang Kepahyang Peat Hydrological Region (MK-PHR) for the period of 2002 to 2015. The changes identified by the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) method using Landsat satellite imagery. The results of the study show that extreme peat fire associated with climate anomalies events occurred in 2006, 2012, and 2015. The largest peat fires during the observation period occurred in 2015 coincided with extreme climate anomalies generating negative changes in land cover in the most of MK-PHR areas. The changes occurred in almost half (49%) of the MK-PHR area, where it moved from the dense to moderate vegetation class. The spatial and temporal land cover changes will be discussed in more detail.

Abstract

Isolation and Characterization of Solar and Gasoline Indigent Bacteria from the Waters of Teluk Bandar Lampung Pier. Lampung Province is a province surrounded by sea waters. Sea water plays an important role in people's lives, where the sea becomes an important commodity for the production of marine biota that can be consumed by the community, because of the high demand for sea transportation. The expenditure is to remove oil which is dumped into the marine environment, especially in the place where the ship's anchorage is anchored. The methodology in this research is used Poured plate and SPC (Standard Plate Count). Conclusions obtained from the Bacteria coding S2 study have potential bioremediation with the highest S2 cell count of 120 x 105 cells / ml at solar concentrations 3. Bacteria coding S4 has the potential for remediation with a cell number of 130 x 105 cells / ml at 2% gasoline concentration. Petroleum breakers bacteria come from the types of Nitrococcus, Enterobacter, and Achromobacter

Abstract

ITERA has six potential embung (reservoir) as a habitat for fresh water flora and fauna, for place of learning and as water tourism. The function of embung (reservoir) is in accordance with ministry PUPR regulation No. 9/2015 is about using water resources, the embung can be utilized as rain retention basin, and aquaculture activity. Water quality in embung (reservoir) will decrease along with many anthropogenic activites that take place around the embung. This study aims to determine the feasibility of embung water quality and customized with ministry Environmental regulation of water quality management and water pollution control No. 82/2001. Embung (reservoir) in ITERA is belonging to the second class category of water quality management. The purpose of research was to analyze water quality parameters including temperature, phosphate, nitrate, BOD, Turbidity, pH, DO, TSS, and Coliform. There are three embung (reservoir) to be sampled on composite. Embung A is located near the highway, Embung B is located near the north entrace gate of ITERA and Embung C is located near LPPM ITERA building. The output of our research will be a source of data reference for follow up in the identification of water pollution and as a form of water quality management of the embungs.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is committed to achieving the SDGs in 2030. One of SDGs is protect the marine ecosystem. Bandar Lampung which has a coastal area in a form of a dock for sea transportation and the anchoring of fishing boats. These area are starting to be polluted due to waste, one of which is the fuel waste of ships or fishing boats that are in the area. When the quality of sea water decreases due to pollution it will have an impact on population and diversity of marine life. If this happens the sea will be damaged and the income of fishermen will decrease. Various studies have been conducted to overcome problems caused by oil (petroleum hydrocarbons), especially research on the use of microbiology in remediating polluted environments. Therefore, this study was conducted to test P1 isolates isolated from sea water in docks around Bandar Lampung. The Measurement was carried out at The Integrated Laboratory of ITERA by observing the growth of the bacteria (population of bacteria) on selective media that had been added with diesel oil as much as 2% (v/v). This measurement was carried out on day 1, day 4 and day 7 after incunbation for population and for % TPH was measurement in the first day and the last day of incubation. The results obtained that the GT1 isolate have a good result in population and decreasing of TPH than the other isolate.
