Abstract

Pangandaran is the 16th district out of 514 districts/cities in Indonesia with a high potential for disasters. In its management, there are still different views regarding disaster mitigation by stakeholders, namely the Government, Private, and Community sectors. This study aims to look at the existing conditions of disaster mitigation carried out in Pangandaran and collaborative governance in disaster mitigation management at Pangandaran Beach. This study uses a qualitative approach by determining the participants from primary stakeholders interested in tourism and natural disasters. Structural and non-structural disaster mitigation has been carried out in Pangandaran using the tsunami risk management master plan manual (BNPB 2012). There are 11 indicators that 2 indicators are still lacking, namely related to disaster evacuation orientation maps and early warning system tools which are very crucial when a disaster occurs. The result of Collaborative governance adopted by the theory of DeSeve (2007) is still not done optimally because tourism management and disaster mitigation have not been integrated and are still running from each party, namely the government, the private sector and public funds, of the 8 indicators only part of the commitment to a common purpose which began to form because they realized that the seriousness of the disaster issue that in Pangandaran can have an impact on all parties.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of servicescape on repurchase intention at Salejourn Café and Space Padang, motivated by fluctuating transaction volumes and customer complaints regarding ambient conditions, layout, and noise levels that may hinder customer loyalty. Employing a quantitative approach with a causal associative design, data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 105 respondents who had visited the café within the past three months. The instrument consisted of 24 items measured on a five-point Likert scale and was tested for validity and reliability, confirming strong construct validity and internal consistency. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0, including descriptive statistics, assumption testing, and simple linear regression. The findings reveal that the servicescape was generally rated good (mean score 68.3%), while repurchase intention was categorized as fairly good (mean score 63.9%). Regression results indicate that servicescape has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, with a regression coefficient of 0.725 (p < 0.05) and an R² value of 0.465, meaning that servicescape explains 46.5% of the variance in repurchase intention. These results demonstrate that well-designed physical environments, particularly spatial layout and symbolic elements, enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, while highlighting the need for improvements in ambient conditions. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on consumer behavior in hospitality, and practically, it provides insights for café managers to optimize servicescape design to sustain competitiveness and strengthen repurchase intentions.

Abstract

This study investigates how career interest shapes hospitality career choice among students in the 2022 cohort of the Diploma IV Hotel Management Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative causal-associative design was applied, involving 100 respondents selected through simple random sampling from a population of 133 students. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through simple linear regression with SPSS 27. The results show that students reported a strong level of career interest, with a mean score of 4.26 and a respondent achievement rate (TCR) of 85.19%, while hospitality career choice was also rated highly, with a mean score of 4.27 and a TCR of 85.44%. Regression analysis indicated that career interest had a positive and significant influence on hospitality career choice, as reflected in the equation Y = 5.373 + 1.119X, with t = 33.382 and p < 0.001. Career interest explained 91.9% of the variance in career choice (R² = 0.919), although this strong explanatory value should be interpreted carefully because both constructs are closely related and the respondents came from a relatively homogeneous vocational education background. The findings support the relevance of Social Cognitive Career Theory in explaining students’ career direction in hospitality education and suggest that career interest needs to be strengthened through practice-based learning, internship experience, industry exposure, and structured career guidance so that students can translate their interest into realistic and informed career choices in the hospitality sector.
