Abstract

One of the corn products which able to increase its economic value is corn tortilla. The housewives joining the women farmer’s community take an initiative to develop the corn tortilla product. This activity has been done since 2013 by Kemuning II.  However, the trouble comes due to they did the common strategy while the competition between MSME getting more strict.  Therefore, it is required a precise marketing strategy to overcome such kind of this problem.This research intended to identify the strength, weaknesses, opportunity, threats, and to find the suitable marketing strategy of the corn tortilla product.  This research used QSPM analysis which was resulted from matrix of IFE, EFE, IE and SWOT matrix.  Based on the results, the study showed that the greatest strengths of the business belonging to Kemuning II WFC are:  (1) raw materials were very abundant with a score of 0.258, (2) the main weaknesses was not having a promotion media with a score of 0,071, (3) the main opportunity was a guidance from the government with a score of 0.209, (4) and the main threat was the change of weather being unstable with a score of 0.133.  The rating of IE matrix placed MSME at the cell position V, those were holding and maintaining strategies. The strategy prioritized for the business of Kemuning II was to improve the internal management system by improving work motivation and promotional activities to expand the marketing area. Keywords:  MSME, tortilla, marketing strategy, SWOT, QSPM

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the presence of formaldehyde in some fresh fish commodities and to trace formaldehyde distribution in Bandar Lampung City. The  formadelhyde tests were done  on the storage water of fresh fish samples. The study conducted in July to October 2013 was devided in two stages: a survey to fill out a questionnaire to a number of respondents, followed by sampling some storage water of fresh fish to be tested in the laboratory.  The tests were  carried out on 52 sampling points taken from the fishing boats in the fishing landing port (17 boats), fish supplier car from outside Bandar Lampung (6 cars) as well as some fish sellers in 5 traditional market in Bandar Lampung (29 sellers). By conducting a laboratory test using Formaldehyde Test Kit, there were 2 samples that were purple (positively contain formaldehyde), which were taken from 2 boats in fish landing port of Lempasing. Then the assertion test was carried out to the positive samples using chromotropic acid (SNI 01 – 2894 – 1992). The results showed that the samples positively contained formaldehyde indeed, which was characterized by a bluish purple color. Based on the survey results and tracking, there was a distortion of formaldehyde distribution in Bandar Lampung, where domestic industries (including fisherman) obtained formaldehyde illegally, either from End Users, a local manufacturer or drugstore/hospital/other health care facilities. Abstract

The purposes of this study were to determine the quality diversity of plastic- packed  soy milk sold in Bandar Lampung, and business analysis of production of soy milk plastic package.  The data of soy milk quality were collected from 8 vendors and 6 producers which determined using purposive sampling method.  The data were tested using ANOVA and continued tested using Duncan multiple range test.  The business analysis were discussed descriptively.  The results showed that the quality of soy milk packed in a plastic bag sold by different vendors were significantly different. The  protein contents ranged from 0,78 – 2,58% w/w; pH  6,32 – 6,78; total solid 10,10 – 15,98% w/w, and total microbial content  5,07 – 5,70 log CFU/ml. The colors ranging from yellowish white – brownish white; the overall acceptance ranged from neutral –like; taste ranged from less sweet – sweet, and  the flavor of soy milk samples were not different which was  described as  as slightly unpleasant.  The business analysis of soy milk packed in a plastic bag which had  NPV = Rp 40.079.472,73; B/C = 1,38; IRR = 485,72%; Pb = 0,21; BEP of fix cost = 711,74; and Production of BEP = 114, showed that the businesses are profitable and proper to be developed (NPV > 0, B/C ratio > 1, IRR > discount factor 11.00%, payback period < the economic period (4 years), fix cost > BEP of fix cost, and total production > production of BEP). Abstract

Diabetes mellitus merupakan penyakit degeneratif yang ditandai oleh meningkatnya kadar glukosa darah. Tingginya glukosa darah dalam tubuh dikarenakan tubuh tidak dapat memproduksi hormon insulin sebagaimana mestinya. Kekurangan insulin disebabkan karena rusaknya sel β pankreas yang dapat mensekresikan insulin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari ekstrak serai terhadap kadar glukosa darah dan profil Langerhans mencit diabetes. Mencit diabetes diberi ekstrak etanol dan air dari serai dengan konsentrasi 125 dan 250 mg/kg berat badan. Pemberian ekstrak serai dilakukan setiap 2 hari sekali selama 30 hari. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa adanya penurunan kadar glukosa darah mencit diabetes seteh diberi ekstrak serai. Tidak ada perbedaan nyata yang ditunjukan pada mencit diabetes setelah diberi oral ekstrak etanol serai pada dosis 125 mg/kgbb dan 250 mg/kgbb, serta ekstrak air serai pada dosis dosis 125 mg/kgbb dan 250 mg/kgbb. Kondisi pancreas mencit menunjukan adanya perbaikan pada mencit yang dberi oral ekstrak serai dibandingkan dengan kondisi kontrol (-) mencit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the content of heavy metals Hg, Cu, Pb, Zn, As, and Ag in green mussels (Perna viridis) at Pasaran Island. Sampling of green mussels was carried out on Pasaran Island and Qiluith Green Shells Cages in two replications.  The results showed that the green clams from  Pasaran Island were contaminated with Hg of 0.05 mg/kg, Cu of 2.84 mg/kg, Pb of  <0.4 mg/kg, Zn of 9.04 mg/kg, As of 0.045 mg/kg, and Ag of <0.1 mg/kg, while those from the Green Qiluith contaminated with Hg of 0.055 mg/kg, Cu of 3.82 mg/kg, Pb of <0.4 mg/kg, Zn of 11.7 mg/kg, As of 0.035 mg/kg, and Ag of <0.1 mg/kg.  Heavy metals content in the green mussels sample on Pasaran Island and Qiluith Green Shells Cages for Mercury (Hg) metal was 0,05 mg/kg and 0,055 mg/kg, Lead (Pb) was <0,4 mg/kg, and Arsenic (As) of 0,045 mg/kg and 0,035 mg/kg still meet the limit of heavy metals contamination in shellfish according to SNI 7387 of 2009.  The limits of heavy metals contamination of Copper (Cu), Zink (Zn), and Silver (Ag) have not determined in SNI 7387 of 2009, however, the heavy metal content of Cu and Zn are classified as high compared to Hg, Pb, and As.

Abstract

Abon ikan tuhuk sangat rentan terhadap ketengikan, Ketengikan terjadi karena asam lemak pada suhu ruang dirombak akibat hidrolisis atau oksidasi sehingga perlu adanya penambahan antioksidan untuk menekan laju asam lemak bebas. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak buah mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) terhadap perubahan asam lemak bebas yang terkandung dalam abon ikan tuhuk (marlin) yang disimpan selama 28 hari. Antioksidan yang digunakan yaitu ekstrak buah mahkota dewa dengan konsentrasi 0%, 1%,2% 3% dan 4%. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan acak Lengkap faktor tunggal. Data diuji lanjut dengan Uji Beda Nyata (BNT) pada taraf 1%. Ekstrak buah mahkota dewa pada abon ikan tuhuk berpengaruh nyata terhadap perubahan total asam lemak bebas, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap rasa, aroma, warna dan tekstur. Konsentrasi yang terpilih yaitu pada penambahan sebesar 4% dengan kriteria rasa khas abon, aroma tidak tengik, tekstur kering, warna kuning kecoklatan, dengan kandungan asam lemak bebas sebesar 7,56%, kadar lemak 25,58%, kadar air 5,95%, kadar abu 6,56%, kadar protein 29,56%, kadar karbohidrat 28,88%, kadar gula 26% dan serat kasar 2,71%.Kata kunci: antioksidan, mahkota dewa, abon ikan tuhuk
