Abstract

Squid is an economically important resource. Currently, squid populations, especially in the District Barru, were intensive exploited, that is feared to affect the population biology parameters. The study was conducted fromFebruary to April 2011. The sampling period was three times a week. The Samples were obtained using random collection from the fishermen catch using Rambo left net. Squid mantle length was measured to the nearest one mm.The parameters analyzed were age group, gonad maturity stage, growth, mortality, and exploitation rate. Squid population in Barru district consists of three age groups with the length of each mode of 51 mm, 98 mm, 133 mm formales, and 51 mm, 96 mm, 127 mm for females. The gonad maturity stage ranging from TKG I to IV for males and females, with the largest percentage of TKG TKG III (47.82% in males and 50.06% in females). The squid firstmaturity is reached at 94.3827 mm in long coat for males, and 59.6735 mm for females. Growth equation for males was Lt = 227 {1 - e -0.31 (t + 0.30)} and females are Lt = 196 {1-e-0, 37 (t +0.26)}. The total mortality rate (Z) is1.59 for males and 1.63 for females. The natural mortality rate (M) is 0.20 for males and 0.57 for females. The capture mortality rate (F) is 1.39 for males and 1.06 for females. The highest CPUE values reached in 1999 was 0.0022 ton per trip, while the smallest CPUE values reached in 2001 was 0.0001 tons per year. The greatest catches could be reached with fishing effort of 50 000 trips with catches of 50 tonnes.

Abstract

Conservation and management of resources that have an economic impact on the community will save the shark population in the Cendrawasih Bay Marine Park. Therefore, the government needs to implement conservation management efforts and limit shark catches. The aim of this research is to determine public perceptions regarding the conservation of whale sharks (Rhincodon Typus) on the coast of Yaur district, Nabire district. Data collection techniques used at the research location are: Observation, interviews, and documentation of activities. Data obtained from observations and distribution of questionnaires were processed using Microsoft Excel software. The results of the processed data are displayed in the form of tables, graphs or diagrams. The results of the research show that the perception of coastal communities in Yaur district towards the conservation of whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) is positive with the dominant percentage knowing about shark conservation and infrastructure. Communities in the Coastal Yaur District actively participate in the conservation of whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) and maintain and maintain infrastructure.

Abstract

Sharks are fish that have a high selling value, so fishermen's interest in catching sharks is also high. The research was carried out from January to November 2021 in the Makassar Strait. Observations were made by dissecting to see the type of food contained in the stomach. The stomach was split open and its contents were removed and then separated according to the type of food, then the type of food was observed directly to identify it. The research results show is the length distribution of long sharks ranges from 49 cm – 251 cm. The relative length of the intestine of 0.7 cm is included in carnivore fish. The highest average value of index of proponderance (%) for sharks was in the tengkek selar food of 52.92%, while the lowest average value of index of proportion was found in the crustacean food of 2.12%. Tetengkek selar is the main food for long sharks, complementary foods are layur fish, squid, crustaceans and fishunidentifiedand additional foodare grouper, anchovies, selar kuning and baronang. The catch of long fish obtained a size structure that varies from small, medium and large. The eating habits of sharks include carnivore fish and eat pelagic and demersal fish.Tetengkek selar is the main food for long sharks, complementary foods are layur fish, squid, crustaceans and fishunidentified.Additional foodare grouper, anchovies, selar kuning and baronang.

Abstract

Fishing for yellowfin tuna has been carried out by fishermen for the last 10 (ten) years, where fishing for yellowfin tuna has been carried out continuously, which can cause fishing activities to be environmentally unfriendly and have an impact on reducing the production of fish catches. This research aim to determine the value and status of sustainability of yellowfin tuna fishing in talaud islands district, using an ecosystem approach to fisheries management social domain and economic domain. The research method is descriptive. The research sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The social domain is very good and economic domain is good.

Abstract

Tuna and skipjack tuna are capture fishery commodities that have a strategic role for the fisheries sector in Indonesia. The potential of skipjack tuna which is the target of fishing by fishermen in Nabire Regency has not been fully studied in detail so that data sources for the utilization of skipjack tuna are very limited and for the sake of sustainable utilization, a structured study is needed. The purpose of the study was to analyze the distribution of size and mature size of skipjack tuna gonads in Cenderawasih Bay. The research method applied survey methods and direct sample measurements in the field. The results showed that the size of skipjack tuna ranged from 25 - 52 cm. Male and female skipjack tuna were caught in mature gonad conditions and were caught a lot in TKG IV.
