Abstract

Music is part of mass communication products developing in the recording industry. Music industry is evolving along with technology and communication advancement. In Indonesia, music is part of the Creative Economy Agency's subsector and considered as one of the promising industries, as there are creative activities such as creation, production, distribution, and promotion. This phenomenon fosters the emergence of indie music industry which perform all activities independently, such as Elephant Kind music band. This study examines how Elephant Kind contributes to indie music sector in Indonesia with their communication strategy approach. By qualitative methods, in-depth interviews and observation, the result shows that Elephant Kind has developed their own strategies to achieve goals based on Pace, Peterson, and Burnett central goals such as 'to secure understanding, to establish acceptance, and to motivate action'. Future research is expected to measure the impact of the communication strategies through the public perceptions. Keywords: communication strategy, music, indie band, mass communication

Abstract

Dalam persiapan meningkatkan kompetensi dunia kerja, pengembangan kompetensi hard skill dan soft skill perlu dilakukan, misalnyamelalui suatu organisasi atau komunitas. Peran organisasi digunakan sebagai ajang pelatihan, seperti pengembangan kompetensi hard skill dan soft skill pada anggota PERHUMAS Muda Yogyakarta, yaitu organisasi generasi muda yang memiliki ketertarikan dalam ilmu-ilmu public relations dan sudah berdiri selama 6 tahun. PMY menjadi wadah persiapan generasi muda yang dipicu kemampuan hard skills dan soft skills setiap anggota. Dalam penelitian ini, hambatan peran anggota dalam mengembangkan kemampuan hard skills dan soft skills juga menjadi topik pembahasan utama. Menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, peneliti melakukan indepth interview dan menggabungkan dengan buku-buku yang relevan dengan topik ini. Dalam penelitian in, peneliti menemukan bahwa kompetensi soft skills PMY lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan hard skills. Peneliti simpulkan bahwa peran anggota PMY siap untuk berkompetensi di dunia kerja nanti. Hambatan serta solusi dalam PMY dapat diselesaikan lebih terarah,

Abstract

This research explores how university leaders employ transformational styles of Islamic leadership and migration ethics, and how such leaders in Islamic higher education navigate crisis. Using qualitative methods and a case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with four strategic leaders from private universities in the Greater Jakarta Area. The findings demonstrate the emergence of "Digital Maslahah", a conception in which technology is used (though not only for operational efficiency) to sustain the ummah. In theory, this study proposes a new communication leadership theory that seeks to resolve the paradox of high-tech "digital infrastructure" and high-touch "humanist touch". This study proposes that the ability to convert and actualize the spiritual dimension of a leader to Miranda's adaptive digital policies is the essential core of Islamic higher education.
