Abstract

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is a multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Brentford, London, England. GSK has a Quality Control (QC) department which is responsible for ensuring the quality of raw materials, packaging materials and finished products. In its operational activities, QC requires a reagent solution. The use of the reagent solution which is not suitable causes the test results to be doubtful, so the suitability of the components, especially the expiration date, needs to be considered. The effort made to prevent the use of expired reagent solutions in the testing process carried out by the QC department at GSK is to implement one of the tools of lean manufacturing, namely Poka Yoke. The approach model used is the Poka Yoke control. Control is done by adding a colored dot sticker to the label of the reagent solution based on the month it expires.

Abstract

Based on the record owned by the cadre, there are currently 97 babies and toddlers. However, the attendance rate of mothers and toddlers at the Mawar Indah Posyandu (integrated health service post) averages only 35% each month. This low attendance rate attracted researchers to initiate a community counseling program with goals to increase awareness and participation among mothers of infants and toddlers in the area. The approach to community empowerment adopted in this study is centered on a public health education campaign, highlighting the critical role of Posyandu in supporting the growth and development of infants and toddlers. The initiative included key steps starting with presenting the benefits of Posyandu for children's growth and developments, engaging participants in a discussion session, and providing door prizes as incentives. The result of the outreach program is attended by 28 mothers along with their children. However, at this level of attendance achieved an average at 28.8%, falling short of the defined success indicators and lower than the previous rate. This outcome was influenced by several factors as outlined in H.L. Bloom’s theory, including environmental factors, individual behavior, healthcare services, and genetic predispositions. The findings indicate that despite efforts to increase awareness and participation, the involvement of mothers with infants and toddlers in the area remains insufficient. Contributing factors include environmental, behavioral, and healthcare service factors. To achieve more optimal results, improvements in these aspects are essential to increase maternal participation in Posyandu programs.

Abstract

Degenerative diseases such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus are increasingly prevalent among both productive-age and elderly populations, including industrial workers. This community service activity aimed to conduct early detection and provide health education related to hypertension and diabetes among workers at Pabrik Wajan Matahari, Cikoneng Subdistrict, Ciamis Regency. The methods included physical examinations (blood pressure and blood glucose) and personalized counseling based on the examination results. The activity involved 30 active worker participants. Results revealed that 66.7% had a history of hypertension and 96.7% had a history of diabetes mellitus. These findings indicate a high prevalence of degenerative diseases among workers and underscore the importance of continuous promotive-preventive interventions in the workplace. Follow-up efforts should include routine screenings, healthy lifestyle education, and cross-sector collaboration to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases among industrial workers.
