Abstract

Roughly half of the production originates from Indonesia, where the expansion of the crop has been criticized from an environmental perspective. Reducing the environmental impact of plantations through better waste management practices is critical to achieve cleaner production. In this context, our study was focused on composting, a practice increasingly adopted among agro-industries. Our trial was designed to test co-composting of the main palm oil mill by-products – empty fruit bunches (EFB) and palm oil mill effluent (POME) – under different POME/EFB ratios and turning frequencies. After 60 days the compost was still in a mesophilic phase and could not be considered as mature compost due to high C/N ratio and temperature. High weight and volume reduction were achieved (40% and 60% respectively), as well as significant water evaporation from the POME and EFB (60%). We found that a POME to EFB ratio of 1 to 1.5 m3/ton was optimal for moisture (65-70%), free air space (>50%) and nutrient recovery, showing that in our experimental conditions the composting process could not use all the POME produced by the mill (3m3/ton of EFB). The nutrient recovery rate was close to 100% for phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. For nitrogen we observed 30-35% of losses. Composting on a concrete platform with a roof, not over-spraying the piles and recycling all the leachates are critical points to achieve high nutrient recovery efficiency and to control final compost quality.[Keywords:composting, empty fruit bunch, nutrient recovery, oil palm, palm oil mill effluent, sustainability]

Abstract

The decision-making taken by the school leadership must be participatory, meaning that all components of the school community must be involved in the decision-making process carried out by the leader, but if you look at the various phenomena that appear in the field, it turns out that there are still many principals in making decisions centrally. With the existence of centralized decision-making, the execution of the results of the decision could not go well because the school community felt that they were not involved in the decision-making. To obtain good decision results and can be implemented by those with good interests, of course, there needs to be a more in-depth study of how to make participatory decisions by exploring knowledge about authority, power, and leadership influence. The three scientific study activities focused on the basic education level by taking a case study at SDN 198 Mekarjaya, Bandung. From the scientific study of the three components, several research problems were formulated to seek answers about the relationship between authority, power, and leadership influence. Education-based on religious, philosophical, psychological, and sociological reviews. The research method uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study in one of the basic education institutions at SDN 198 Mekarjaya, Bandung City. The results of the research on the authority, power, and influence of leadership at SDN 198 Mekarjaya based on a religious review show that the education leadership, in this case, the principal, always acts on a religious basis. Judging from the philosophical basis that the principle always applies the values of ethical idealism in each of his main tasks. Judging from the psychological basis, the principal in making decisions or policies is very careful and always considers input from various parties. Judging from the social basis, the principal in carrying out school management is quite mastered. Recommendations from the results of the study, that the principal of both kindergarten, elementary, high school / vocational school, is better in carrying out educational leadership in schools always positioning himself as a democratic leader and manager, prioritizing deliberation, and being able to make participatory decisions so that school residents feel involved directly so that an attitude arises to carry out the decision voluntarily. Forced decisions are usually not good. Principals in using authority, power, and influence in schools should apply wisely so that educational goals can be achieved properly without any negative excesses.

Abstract

Education in the 21st century begins to integrate skills, knowledge, skills and attitudes, as well as mastery of information and communication technology. Innovative learning models and teaching materials such as multimedia-based learning systems play a very important role in the development of children's education. In accordance with these needs, this study aims to design a learning media about animal grouping for students in elementary schools that is interactive as well as a display that can attract students so that it can increase students' enthusiasm for learning and understanding efficiently. Provide learning media about the introduction of animal groupings with animation and animal cartoon characters making it easier for children to learn natural sciences, especially the introduction of various types of animals. This study uses a multimedia development methodology. The multimedia method according to Luther & Sutopo consists of several stages, the first stage is the concept, this stage determines the learning objectives, user identification, application concepts and devices used. The second stage is design, this stage is carried out by designing pages, storyboards and navigation structures. The third stage is collecting material, this stage collects the materials needed in making the program. The fourth stage is assembly, in that stage the application begins to be made according to the design in the second stage and combines it with the materials that have been collected in the third stage. The fifth stage is testing, at this stage testing is carried out by application makers and users. The sixth stage is distribution, the last stage the application is saved to the storage media. The application of learning media for the introduction of animal grouping is made as attractive as possible by prioritizing visual uniqueness with animation and the addition of video features. The application of learning media for the introduction of animal grouping is made with materials that are in accordance with the competencies and learning materials

Abstract

This study aimed to examine of changes model on turnover intention on the effect of job stress and organizational climate through job satisfaction in oil palm plantation companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis was conducted using 120 respondents comprising field and office employees identified in strategic positions as respondents. Data were collected using online questionnaires and tested for normality using Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis with SmartPLS 3.2.7. The results showed that all the p-value indicators of the latent variable < 0.05 and this implies they are all valid and reliable to be used in the construct. The direct effects of X1 (JobStress) and X2 (Organizational Climate) on Y (Job Satisfaction), and X1 (Job Stress) on Z (Turnover Intention) were found to be significant while the other direct effects were insignificant. Moreover, all indirect effects were not significant but the effects of Total X1 (Job Stress) and X2 (Organizational Climate) on Y (Job Satisfaction) and the effect of X1 (Job Stress) on Z (Turnover Intention) were significant while the other total effects were insignificant. A strong indicator was discovered to be often thinking about leaving and actively looking for other job opportunities. This indicates that managers need to maintain work stress through the implementation of better policies related to work conditions. This is important because it was observed to affect job satisfaction, thereby, leading to turnover intention, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

In "Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional 2015-2019," which is regarded as a vital monetary sector, one of Indonesia's national development goals is the agricultural sector. One indicator of the success of agricultural development is the degree of farmer welfare, typically determined by the Nilai Tukar Petani (NTP). By comparing the quantity of NTP in each subsector and the implementation of the farming engagement activities, this article compares the level of farmer welfare in two farming sub-sectors, specifically estate crops and horticultural crops. The secondary data from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) from 2015 to 2021 were divided into two periods before and during pandemic COVID 19 (2015–2019 and 2020–2021), and the descriptive data on the farmer involvement activities with the sample point at Belitung Island. The data were analyzed with SPSS version 25 through Eta correlation analysis. The investigation revealed that horticultural crops and the NTP estate changed, with the NTP of horticultural plants being the most stable. Meanwhile, the horticulture and NTP estate crops tended to decrease and become less stable during pandemic COVID 19. We concluded that the agriculture industry was sustainable, particularly SME horticultural and estate crops. For a sustainable farming option, we advise employing marginal land for short crops using organic compost and reusing agriculture waste for bioorganic fertilizer.
