Abstract

Green tea leaves contain high antioxidants and are suitable in case they are developed as a Lip Cream formula. Besides, the antioxidant content is expected to increase lipcream stability. The purpose of this study was to formulate the lipcream extract of green tea leaf (Camelia sinensis L) with the best stability. Green tea leaf extraction (Camelia sinensis L) was made by the maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. Tea leaf extraction resulted in extract rendament of 12.36%, and the formulations were arranged in 3 formulas with the concentration of tea leaf extract of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Also, evaluation was carried out on all formulae, including stability, homogeneity, organoleptic, and hedonic tests. Evaluation results showed that all three formulas have excellent stability. However, the 5% formula is the most preferred in the hedonic analysis.Keywords: Lipcream, Green Tea Leaf (Camelia sinensis L) Extract.Daun teh hijau mengandung antioksidan yang tinggi dan cocok bila dikembangkan sebagai formula Lip Cream selain itu kandungan antioksidan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kestabilan lipcream. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi lipcream ekstrak daun teh hijau (camelia sinensis L) yang memilki stabilitas terbaik. ekstraksi daun teh hijau (camelia sinensis L) dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%, hasil ekstraksi daun teh menghasilkan rendamen ekstrak sebanyak 12,36%. Formulasi disusun sebanyak 3 formula dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun teh 5%, 10%, dan 15%. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap semua formula meliputi uji stabilitas, uji homogenitas, uji organoleptis, dan uji hedonik. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan ketiga formula memiliki stabilitas yang baik, Formula yang paling banyak disenangi pada uji hedonik adalah formula 5%.Kata Kunci: Lipcream, ekstrak daun teh hijau (Camelia sinensis L).

Abstract

Human lifestyle is currently experiencing many changes that lead to unhealthy lifestyles. An instant lifestyle can trigger degenerative diseases, which are initiated by excessive oxidation reactions in the body, which can cause the formation of free radicals. Lemon juice, derived from the Citrus limon plant, is considered a functional beverage due to its antioxidant properties, which have the potential to counteract the harmful effects of free radicals. This study aimed to measure the antioxidant activity of lemon juice beverage based on the IC50 value. The present study adopted a descriptive laboratory approach, utilizing lemon juice beverages from three distinct brands as representative samples. The antioxidant activity test was carried out by adding DPPH and measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. The antioxidant levels obtained were 1,091.17 µg/mL for sample A, 1,114.50 µg/mL for sample B, and 527,261 µg/mL for sample C. All samples exhibited antioxidant activity values that fell within the "very weak" classification, as shown by IC50 values above 200 µg/mL.
