Abstract

Forty Kacang doe (average initial BW, 10.2 kg) were used in 4x2 factorial arrangement to determine carcass characteristics. Dose of the testosterone as first factor were assigned to four levels, i.e.: control (T0), 1 dose of testosterone propionate (T1),  2 doses of TP (T2), and 3 doses of TP (T3). The age of animals as the second factor, i.e.: 7-8 months of age (U1) and  9-12 months of age (U2), referred to chevon method. The treatment combinations were replicated 5 times, respectively, so that there were 40 heads of doe. Animals were injected with 0.77 mg of TP/kg BW/d weekly for first dose and  the goats were fed for 90 days.  The diet were assigned to met or exceed 50 g ADG. The variables included slaughter weight, carcass weight, pelt weight, and Kidney Pelvic Heart (KPH) fat weight. There were significant interaction (P<0.01), except on KPH weight. The best carcass characteristics were significantly resulted from injection of 49 mg TP head-1 week-1 treated on 9 kg of Kacang doe. Key Words: Testosterone, Age, Carcass Characteristic, Kacang Doe

Abstract

Body weight of cattle would be lose about 10-30% during transportation because of stress. The condition affected on cattle business. Vitamin C could reduce stress, so it’s assumed that vitamin C treatment could reduce weight lost during transportation. An operation research was done on May up to August, 2014 to evaluate the effect of  vitamin C treatment on weight lost of during transportation from Lampung Province to Bengkulu Province.. Two group of cattle were observed in this research, 60 heads of the first group got 500 mg vitamin C treatment and 60 heads as control. Varibale observed were body weight of cattle before and after transportation. Quarrel between body weight before and after transportation were weight lost. Weight lost of cattle of the treatment group and the control group were analysed by t tests. This research indicated that weight lost of  treatment group were not different with control group (P>0,05).It could be concluded that 500 mg vitamin C had not reduced yet stress condition of cattle during transportation. It was suggested to increase dose of vitamin C in the next research. Keywords : Vitamin C, transportation, and weight lost.

Abstract

Ketersediaan pakan ternak merupakan hal yang vital bagi keberlanjutan suatu usaha peternakan  karena biaya pakan adalah komponen tertinggi (60−70%) dari seluruh biaya produksi ternak. Oleh karena itu ketersediaan bahan pakan secara kontinyu sangat penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan proses produksi sapi potong. Salah satu caranya melalui penggunaan limbah pertanian dan limbah industri pertanian. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kawasan Pengembangan Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SPR) Kecamatan Ngadiluwih, Kabupaten Kediri selama 3 bulan dimulai pada bulan Mei sampai Juli 2019. Tujuan dari penelitian ialah mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan Limbah Pertanian Terhadap Performa Produksi Sapi Potong di Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SPR) Kabupaten Kediri. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa 4 jenis dengan sapi jantan berjumlah  28 ekor bobot badan awal sapi kirasan 300 - 400 kg. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah  pemberian  pakan berbasis bahan pakan lokal pada 28 sapi jantan menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dengan 7 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati meliputi: (1) konsumsi pakan; (2) pertambahan bobot badan  harian (PBBH); (3) konversi pakan dan (4). Hasil penelitian bahwa pengaruh pemanfaatan Limbah Pertanian Terhadap Performa Produksi Sapi Potong di Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SPR) Kabupaten Kediri menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan dan menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap PBBH, konversi pakan dan efisiensi pakan. Konsumsi pakan tertinggi sampai yang terendah berturut – turut ialah perlakuan P3 (10,20±0,43 g/ekor/hari), P2 (9,16±0,86 g/ekor/hari), P1 (9,10±3,62 g/ekor/hari), dan P4 (8,55±3,50 g/ekor/hari). Disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan P3 terbaik untuk meningkatkan konsumsi pakan  sapi potong. Namun berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap pertambahan bobot badan harian, konversi pakan dan efisiensi pakan. Berdasarkan data di atas dapat disarankan perlu diadakan penelitian lebih lanjut tentang pemanfaatan limbah pertanian terhadap performa ternak lain.

Abstract

The operation research were held to elevated effect of vitamin C dosages on cattle body weight lost and determined correlation and regression of temperature, humidity, and length of journey to cattle body weight lost during transportation from Lampung to Palembang.  Research used Completely Randomized Design. The treatments are Control (P0); 1,000 mg vitamin C (P1); 1,500 mg vitamin C (P2); 40 heads respectively.  Research was held on September – November 2015 following cattle transportation from Karang Endah, Central Lampung, Lampung to Tanjung Raja, Indralaya, South Sumatera.  The data were analysed using Analysis of Variance 5% and 1% to know the effect of vitamin C dosage on cattle body weight lost, continued with Least Significance Different 5% and 1%.  Correlation and regression of body weight lost to temperature, humidity, and length of journey were analyzed using correlation and regression analysis.  The results showed vitamin C treatment had highly significant result (P<0,01) on cattle body weight lost during transportation at 9,53% on 1.000 mg vitamin C (P1); and 9,26%  on 1.500 mg vitamin C (P2).  The best results were given by 1.500 mg of vitamin C treatment. The correlation between body weight lost to temperature, humidity, and length of journey were 0,36, 0,054, and 0,17 on P0; 0,26, 0,26, and 0,0003 on P1; 0,24, 0,24, and 0,14 on P2. Abstract

Weight loss due stres during transportation had become economic defect on livestock business. According to this situation, an operational research using 136 cattle were held to evaluated effect of vitamin C treatment since the capability of vitamin C to reduced stres. There are 68 heads which is oral treated using 500 mg vitamin C and 68 control,  respectively. Observation were done on May-August 2014, during cattle transportation from Karang Endah Sub district, Lampung Tengah Municipal, Lampung Province to Palembang, Sumatera Selatan Province. Transportation repeated 6 times using trucks consist of half treated, which has odd tag, and control cattle. Cattle weighing were done before and after transportation, while data analyzed using t-test. Observation showed that the weight lost difference between treated (10,15%)  and control (9,74%) is 0,41% (P<0,05). Result also showed that vitamin C could saving of Rp.647.595,00/truck/ transportation.

Abstract

Breeding Value is an evaluation of the quality of animal genetics for a certain character which isgiven relatively based on its position in population. This study aimed to determine the value ofheritability and repeatability of weaning weight of Kacang goats, to determine the weaning weightand the breeding value of each individual mather do, and to determine the individual mather dowhich had the highest breeding value of weaning weight. This study used survey method to obtainthe subject matters, which comprised 30 female parentstock which had recording of litter age,pedigree of males, and kids of female samples which had recording of birth weight, type of birth,type of maintenance, and weaning weight of the first and the second birth.The result of this study showed that the average of corrected weaning weight was 9,574±0,97 kg;the heritability value of weaning weight was 0,011±0,000; the repeatability of weaning weight was0,061; the average of breeding value of weaning weight was 9,613±0,02. Based on the result ofthis study, it was known that 19 (51%) of 30 female parentstock of Kacang goats had breedingvalue over the average, and 5 female parentstock with the highest breeding value of weaningweight were prioritized, they were female parentstock with codes D1 with breeding value was9,673; N1 was 9,633; H1 was 9,629; I1 was 9,629; S1 was 9,628 in the study location.

Abstract

Performa reproduksi merupakan hal penting dalam produktivitas ternak sapi potong. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh bangsa terhadap parameter performa reproduksi sapi betina di Kecamatan Bringin, Kabupaten Ngawi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Bringin, Dampit, Dero, Gandong, Kenongorejo, Krompol, Legowetan, Mojo, Sumberbening, dan Desa Suruh. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 01 November 2021 sampai 01 Februari 2022. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey, wawancara, dan observasi kepada peternak. Analisa dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan ulangan tidak sama. Parameter yang diamati meliputi lama estrus, siklus estrus, jarak estrus, perkawinan, dan non return rate. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan tabel analisa sidik ragam, menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan bangsa sapi potong tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap siklus estrus 1 dan 2, dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap lama estrus dan jarak estrus ke IB. Uji HSD menunjukkan bahwa lama estrus pada P1 berbeda nyata dengan lainnya, dan pada jarak estrus ke IB pada P2 berbeda nyata dengan lainnya. Rata-rata siklus estrus pada P1, P2, P3, dan P4 adalah 29,25; 32,00; 44,00; 27,13 hari. Rata-rata lama estrus pada P1, P2, P3, dan P4 adalah 13,15; 16,12; 16,29; 16,08 jam. Rata-rata jarak estrus ke IB pada P1, P2, P3, dan P4 adalah 3,93; 2,74; 4,66; 4,77 jam. Data deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa prosentase NRR pada P1, P2, P3, dan P4 berturut-turut yaitu 88,57%; 91,03%; 91,43%; 89,33%, dan prosentase IB ulang pada P1, P2, P3, dan P4 berturut-turut yaitu 11,43%; 8,97%; 8,57%; 10,67%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan bangsa hanya berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap parameter performa reproduksi sapi betina pada variabel lama estrus dan jarak estrus ke IB.
