Abstract

This research intended to determine the effect of using fermented and ammoniated of cassava peel on body weight gain and feed convertion in male sheep. This research was conducted in June until August 2019 in a cage unit located in the Animal Husbandry Department, Agriculture Faculty, Lampung University. The research used Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. Experimental unit of this experiment were nine sheeps. The treatment used were P0 (Ration + 15% cassava peel without processing), P1 (Ration + fermented cassava peel), and P2 (Ration + ammoniated cassava peel). Variable in this study were feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The data obtained were analyzed for variance with significance level 5%. The results showed that the use of fermented and amoniated of cassava peel was not significant (P>0,05) on feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion. Conclusion of this research is that fermented and ammoniated of cassava peel use in ration did not significantly increase body weight of sheep. Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the performance of Saburai goats reared by farmer in Gisting Atas Village, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency. These research was conducted in June until August 2019 in Saburai goat breeding group at Gisting Atas Village, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. The research used 14 farmers as respondents and their Saburai goats with various age levels, namely at kid, young goat, and dam. The research method used was direct interviews and observations in the field which include collecting farmer profile data, while livestock performance data was observed using data recording of the animal. The data was analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that 100% of farmers motivation was to increase their income. Each farmer had 10 tail of goat in average. The average performance of goats were kidding intervals of 310.43±49.70 days, litter size of 1.88±0.40 tails, postpartum oestrus of 61.58±9.72 days, postpartum mating of 149.11±51,19 days, birth weight of 2.83±0.11 kg, weaning weight of 11.28 ±1.36 kg, and yearling weight of 25.98±2.93 kg. The Conclusion of this research was that the performance of Saburai goats that are kept by farmers has decreased if compared with performance of many years before current research. Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ukuran-ukuran tubuh sapi Krui jantan dan betina di Kabupaten Pesisir Barat provinsi Lampung.  Penelitian ini dilakukan pada November-Desember 2016.  Sampel yang diamati sebanyak 55 ekor sapi jantan dan 71 ekor sapi betina.  Metode survey digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dan sampel tersebut ditentukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling.  Data dianalisis dengan uji t.  Peubah yang diamati meliputi bobot badan, lingkar dada, panjang badan, dan tinggi pundak.  Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa rata-rata bobot badan sapi Krui jantan dan betina poel 0 (125,4±117 kg), poel 1 (148,6±136,2 kg), poel 2 (189,6±176,1 kg), poel 3 (234,5±208,4 kg), lingkar dada poel 0 (118±110 cm), poel 1 (132,9±128,3 cm), poel 2 (134,5±129,5 cm), poel 3 (137±130,3 cm), panjang badan poel 0 (103±97,2 cm), poel 1 (110,3±104,1 cm), poel 2 (124,6±109,8 cm) poel 3 (133,6±127,4 cm), sedangkan rata-rata tinggi pundak poel 0 (91,3±86,7 cm), poel 1 (102,5±97,8 cm), poel 2 (105,1±101,1 cm), poel 3 (113±104,7 cm).  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bobot badan, lingkar dada, panjang badan, dan tinggi pundak sapi Krui jantan dan betina pada kelompok umur yang sama menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05).  Kata Kunci : Sapi Krui, Sifat kuantitatif, Bobot badan, Lingkar dada, Panjang badan, Tinggi pundak.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberdayakan masyarakat tani dan peternak di Desa Sidosari Kecamatan Natar Kabupaten Lampung Selatan melalui penerapan teknologi pembuatan pupuk organik plus yang berkualitas dan memiliki kandungan hara tinggi dengan cara meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat mengenai penerapan teknologi pembuatan pupuk dengan menambahkan mikroba pengikat nitrogen (N-fixer), pelarut fosfat (P-solubilizer), dan mikroba pengurai (decomposer) untuk meningkatkan kandungan hara dan kualitas pupuk organik yang dihasilkan. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi/penyuluhan, demonstrasi pembuatan pupuk organik plus dan percontohan pengujian pupuk di lapang melalui demplot. Khalayak sasaran kegiatan ini adalah anggota kelompok peternak dan kelompok wanita tani di Desa Sidosari Kecamatan Natar Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Materi yang disampaikan merupakan teknologi tepat guna pembuatan pupuk organik plus. Setiap anggota kelompok ikut berpartisipasi dalam pelaksanaan dan penerapan kegiatan ini. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini mendapat perhatian yang serius dari masyarakat khalayak dan dapat dikatakan sangat berhasil dengan meningkatnya pengetahuan petani sebesar 87,9%. Keberhasilan dari pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik plus yang diperkaya dengan mikroba untuk meningkatkan kandungan hara pupuk yang dihasilkan ditunjukkan dengan selesainya proses pembuatan pupuk dan dihasilkannya pupuk organik sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Pengujian melalui demplot juga menunjukkan perbedaan antara perlakuan pupuk yang diberikan pada tanaman sayuran.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to measure the effects of watering frequency using sprinkler on the physiological response and production of simmental grade cattle. Experiment was conducted during 45 days starting on December 2014 to January 2015 in Gunung Madu Plantation Cooperative farms, Gunung Batin district, Central Lampung regency. Feed analysis was carried out in the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experimental design used in this study was performed by using a Completely Randomized Design with treatment of control (P0), frequency of watering 1 time (P1) and frequency of watering 2 times (P2). Based on the results of research, we concluded that watering frequency treatment significantly (P<0.01) effected on the physiological response of Simmental grade cattle. However, treatment have not significantly effecting on consumption and growth of Simmental grade cattle.(Key words: Physiological response, Production, Sprinkler)

Abstract

Anak ayam yang berumur satu hari sampai empat belas hari (masa brooding) dalam pemeliharaannya memerlukan temperatur berkisar antara "34°-39°C" . Untuk menjaga temperatur tersebut digunakan pemanas ruangan berbahan bakar LPG. Untuk memanaskan kandang dengan kapasitas 12.000 ekor selama 14 hari diperlukan LPG seberat 12 kg sebanyak 21 tabung. Ketersedian LPG dan mahalnya harga LPG tersebut melatarbelakangi kajian ini. Pemanfaatan oli bekas sebagai alternatif pemanas ruangan didasarkan pada pertimbangan harga yang lebih terjangkau, panas yang dihasilkan lebih stabil, temperatur yang dapat disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan, dan pengolahan limbah yang lebih tepat guna. Pemanfaatan oli bekas juga sebagai wujud implementasi target Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ke-7 yakni pada tahun 2030, meningkatkan secara substansial pangsa energi terbarukan dalam bauran energi global. Kajian diawali dengan pembuatan alat pemanas berbahan bakar oli bekas dan analisis biayanya. Penulisan karya tulis ini digunakan tiga metode penelitian yaitu uji coba, observasi dan studi pustaka, serta digunakan metode sintesis dengan pendekatan teoritik atau telaah pustaka untuk memperoleh data dan informasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa oli bekas dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar dan memberikan penghematan biaya sebesar 47,68% dibandingkan dengan penggunaan pemanas dengan berbahan bakar LPG.

Abstract

The aim of this research was: 1) to determine the water content of the meat in Bandar Lapung abattoirs; 2) to determine the microbial quality of the meat in Bandar Lampung abattoirs. The research was conducted at March 2014 continously from Bandar Lampung abattoirs. The analysis of the water content was conducted in Laboratorium Nutrisi Ternak, Jurusan Peternakan while the analysis of the microbial quality conducted in Laboratorium Penguji Balai Veteriner Lampung. The method of research was survey. The obtain data was analyzed by using the descriptive quantitative analysis.The analysis shows that water content of the meat in Mrs. Mul’s abattoir were 71,92% and 71,55%. The total microbial count were 0,67 x105 CFU/g and 1,2 x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in H. Bustomi’s abattoir were 74,84% and 74,43%. The total microbial count were 0,46x105 CFU/g and 5,9 x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in H. Udin’s abattoir were 74,24% and 73,14%. The total microbial count were 4,9x 105 CFU/g and 0,088x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in Mr. Ampan’s abattoir were 72,22% dan 72,65%. The total microbial count were 4,4x105 CFU/g and 0,075x105 CFU/g. Based on the result, it was concluded that the meat from Bandar Lampung abattoirs were still proper for consumption.

Abstract

The research was conducted in April 2014 in slaughterhouses in Bandar Lampung. This studyaims to determine the physical quality of the beef that is in Bandar Lampung by pH, water holdingcapacity and cooking loss. The meat is taken from the back of the thigh meat obtained fromslaughterhouses in Bandar Lampung. This study uses survey were analyzed descriptively.The results showed that the physical quality of the beef that is in Bandar Lampung is stillwithin the normal range. Average pH of 6.0, while the average value of 30.14 water holding capacity,and the average value of 42.53 cooking shrinkage. Based on these results it can be concluded that(1)the physical quality of the beef slaughtering place is normal and (2)good to eat.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the microbial content contained in meat sold in traditional markets in Bandar Lampung. Survey method used in this study.  Data collecting technique in this study were purposive sampling method and questionnaire method.  Sampling was conducted on purpose in accordance with the requirements specified were: 1) the amount of meat sale > 25 kg / day, 2) one's own / work remains, 3) long to sell a minimum of 2 years.  The amount of meat samples were taken as 200 grams from each trader.  The number of trader which meat taken were 17 traders fro 8 markets. Sampling was conducted at 06.00 pm.  The meat samples tested by bacteriological examination of Total Plate Count (TPC), the coliform and Salmonella sp.  Research was conducted in the laboratory of Hall Veterinary Bandar Lampung.  The result showed that 17, 65% of beef traders in traditional markets Bandar Lampung contained Total Plate Count (TPC) exceeds the standard, 58.82% of beef contains traders coliform above the standard and 35.29% beef trader in traditional markets in Bandar Lampung contained Salmonella sp. above the standard based SNI: 7388: 2009.

Abstract

The operation research were held to elevated effect of vitamin C dosages on cattle body weight lost and determined correlation and regression of temperature, humidity, and length of journey to cattle body weight lost during transportation from Lampung to Palembang.  Research used Completely Randomized Design. The treatments are Control (P0); 1,000 mg vitamin C (P1); 1,500 mg vitamin C (P2); 40 heads respectively.  Research was held on September – November 2015 following cattle transportation from Karang Endah, Central Lampung, Lampung to Tanjung Raja, Indralaya, South Sumatera.  The data were analysed using Analysis of Variance 5% and 1% to know the effect of vitamin C dosage on cattle body weight lost, continued with Least Significance Different 5% and 1%.  Correlation and regression of body weight lost to temperature, humidity, and length of journey were analyzed using correlation and regression analysis.  The results showed vitamin C treatment had highly significant result (P<0,01) on cattle body weight lost during transportation at 9,53% on 1.000 mg vitamin C (P1); and 9,26%  on 1.500 mg vitamin C (P2).  The best results were given by 1.500 mg of vitamin C treatment. The correlation between body weight lost to temperature, humidity, and length of journey were 0,36, 0,054, and 0,17 on P0; 0,26, 0,26, and 0,0003 on P1; 0,24, 0,24, and 0,14 on P2.
