Abstract

The spread of the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the government to close schools and encourage the implementation of distance learning. Various ways are used to ensure that learning activities continue, even though there are no face-to-face sessions. To support distance learning, there is a great need for media that is available online and delivered online. The purpose of this study is to describe the impact caused by the use of online teaching materials in distance learning in the Biology Learning Program Development (P3BIO) course which is being implemented in the fourth semester of the 2020/2021 academic year at the Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Mandalika University of Education. The research was carried out by providing research instruments in the form of teaching materials delivered online. The data analysis technique uses the N-Gain formula. The results of data analysis obtained an N-Gain value of 0.48, which when converted into the category of increasing student ability is included in the medium category, indicating an increase between initial knowledge and final knowledge. Thus, the conclusion that can be drawn is that the integration of P3BIO teaching materials is said to be effective, even though they are distributed online through Distance Learning (PJJ).

Abstract

This study aims: 1) to find out the increase in student learning outcomes; and 2) to find out students' responses after applying BoneLab learning media in class VIII at MTs. Nahdlatul Mujahidin NW Jempong. The research method uses Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of 2 cycles, each cycle containing the stages of preparation, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research instruments consisted of: 1) teacher observation sheet activity; 2) student observation sheet activity; 3) learning achievement test sheets; and 4) student questionnaire response sheets. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis with percentages. The results of the study stated that, the activities of teachers in the first cycle carried out "very well" with an average percentage of 86.48%. Whereas in the second cycle, it performed "very well" with an average percentage of 89.60%, an increase of 3.12%. Activities of students in the first cycle, the average percentage obtained was 89.30% with the category "very good". While in cycle II, the average percentage obtained was 91.5% with the category of "very good", an increase of 2.2%. The percentage of the number of students experiencing mastery learning outcomes of students in the first cycle was 46%, and in the second cycle was 66%. The percentage of students' responses to learning is 82.8%.

Abstract

Kopasanda (Chormolaena odorata) leaves are often used as traditional medicine and are proven to be used as natural antiseptics. We use this public belief as the basis for analyzing the antiseptic content in laboratory tests. The test results are then used as the basis for making the gel. The method we use is the maceration method to proceed to the phytochemical screening test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that, it is true that Kopasanda leaves (Choromolaena odorata) contain antiseptic compounds that can heal wounds.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how the effect of Problem Based Writing with Peer Review (PW-PR) on students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is quasi-experimental. The population in this study were students of class X SMAN 1 Praya Timur, Central Lombok Regency, with a total of 24 students. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, ie classes were taken based on a specific purpose. The data analysis technique used is the N-Gain index formula. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest data analysis showed that, there was a significant increase from the N-Gain index of 0.36 to the N-Gain index of 0.44. The standard N-Gain index is 0.7 smaller than the research N-Gain index (0.7 < 0.44). Because the N-Gain index of the research results is smaller than the standard N-Gain index and the results are positive so that it is categorized as moderate, it can be concluded that there is an effect of Problem Based Writing with Peer Review (PW-PR) on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mastery of concepts in solving misconceptions in biology subjects. The sample used is grade 12 students majoring in scienceĀ  and using purposive sampling as a sampling technique. The instrument used is in the form of open test questions containing misconceptions that have been validated by 2 experts and are considered valid because they come from a collection of misconceptions with ISBNs. Data analysis used in this study is the CRI technique. The results of the analysis of the research data can be concluded that the level of understanding of students through their CRI analysis is at a level > 2.5 with the category of misconceptions. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that grade 12 science students have very low mastery of concepts that trigger misconceptions so that it is necessary to review certain concepts that have been studied.

Abstract

Yogurt is one of the functional foods obtained from fermented milk with the help of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). Several innovations were made to improve the functional properties of yogurt by adding ingredients rich in fiber, one of which is pumpkin. The nutritional content of pumpkin is quite complete, and its utilization is still minimal, so this pumpkin has the potential to be developed as an alternative in making yogurt. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the proportion of pumpkin juice on the characteristics of yogurt that is suitable for consumption in terms of pH and organoleptic tests. The research design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) using 3 treatments, namely: the first treatment 1:1 (pumpkin: water); second treatment 1:2 (pumpkin: water); and the third treatment 1:3 (pumpkin: water) with 4 replications. The pH test used a pH meter and pH 7 buffer. Based on the results of laboratory tests, the highest pH value was 6.67 in the first treatment (P1), and the lowest pH was 5.62 in the second treatment (P2). For the organoleptic test, the color is yellow to orange, the taste of yogurt obtained is slightly sour to sour, the aroma of pumpkin yogurt is pungent, and the texture is watery to thick.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Experimental Park which is located at Jalan Segaranak Number 08 Ampenan, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara Province, from May 2022 to August 2022. This research has objectives, namely: 1) to determine the influence of the media planting on the growth and yield of leek (Allium porrum L.) when placed on growing media with different compositions; and 2) to evaluate the composition of the best planting medium used for leek (Allium porrum L.) growth. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely P0 = 100% soil, P1 = 50% soil: 50% organic fertilizer, P2 = 50% soil: 25% organic fertilizer: 25% charcoal husk, P3 = 50% soil: 25% organic fertilizer: 25% sawdust, P4 = 50% soil: 25% organic fertilizer: 25% coconut fiber, with 4 replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The results of this study were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test with a significance level of 0.05 for 4 parameters, namely: plant height, root length, number of leaves, and plant fresh weight. Data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test and then followed by using the BNT 0.05 test. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be seen that the planting media has a significantly different effect on Sig. <0.05 on plant height, plant root length, and fresh weight of leek (Allium poruum L.) plants. Meanwhile, on the parameter of many leaves, the planting medium did not have a significantly different effect on Sig. >0.05.
