Abstract

Graduation accuracy is one of the indicators used in assessing the suitability of undergraduate programs as a functional unit of higher education. Knowing the factors that influence student graduation time helps study programs and faculties make decisions to increase the number of students who graduate on time. The purpose of this research is to obtain an overview of the factors that influence students in the accuracy of completing the study time by using the Machine Learning algorithm, namely Decision Tree, which is expected to have high classification efficiency and good description so that it can increase the number of students graduating on time. The methods used to determine student dropout factors are Classification and Regression Tree (CART) and LightGBM. The data used is the data of undergraduate students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in 2019. The quality of classification can be read from the accuracy, sensitivity and specification values. The result using CART is 95.1% with the most influencing factors are GPA, faculty, lecture time and predicate while Lightgbm is 83% with the most influencing factors are GPA, gender, lecture time and faculty. Decision tree can be used to determine student dropout factors because of its high accuracy with GPA being the main factor.

Abstract

Modern agriculture requires innovative approaches in farm management to improve efficiency and security. This thesis aims to design a smart goat system in a goat pen equipped with an anti-theft security system will based on the IoT. This system uses a ultrasonic sensor to monitor the condition of the goat's drinking water needs. In addition, it is equipped with anti-theft technology that utilizes magnetic sensors on the cage door to detect people entering around the cage if the system is activated in real-time. The collected data is integrated into the blink server to allow remote monitoring by the farmer. A mobile application was also developed as a UI that makes it easier for farmers to manage and monitor the barn effectively. By combining aspects of smart cages and anti-theft systems, this research aims to provide a comprehensive solution that can enhance farm security and optimize productivity simultaneously. The tool used in this research is Nodemcu ESP8266

Abstract

This research aims to (1) find out how the process of official travel for employees of the Regional Revenue Agency of North Sumatra Province is, (2) design a decision support system for a website system in the process of implementing official travel for employees of the Regional Revenue Agency of North Sumatra Province. This research method uses quantitative research. Data analysis technique using the Entropy-Waspas Method. The sample used in the research consisted of 27 alternatives. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews and literature study. Next, a simulation of the Waspas entropy calculation was obtained by carrying out (1) determining alternatives and (2) determining criteria. The researchers obtained the results that (1) Using the Entropy Waspas Method in the support system for determining BAPENDA employees entitled to travel on business can make it easier for BAPENDA to select employees who have the right to travel on business and (2) the system calculation results show the same results between system calculations and manual calculations seen from the highest ranking value.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a significant infectious disease in tropical countries, with a major public health impact. This study aims to develop a predictive model to estimate the number of dengue cases in two cities, San Juan and Iquitos, using the Random Forest and XGBoost algorithms. The dataset used is DengAI: Predicting Disease Spread, which includes various environmental and weather features such as temperature, rainfall, humidity, and vegetation index, as well as the number of dengue cases reported. The research process begins with data pre-processing to ensure data quality and suitability. After that, the predictive model was built using Random Forest and XGBoost. The model performance evaluation was carried out using Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The results showed that the XGBoost model had a better performance in predicting the number of dengue cases than the Random Forest model, with a lower MAE for both cities. The resulting predictive model can assist health authorities in planning and implementing more effective preventive measures. This study confirms the potential use of machine learning techniques in infectious disease epidemiology and provides important insights into environmental factors that influence the spread of dengue.

Abstract

Di era digital ini, adopsi teknologi menjadi kunci keberhasilan dan keberlanjutan usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM). Namun, banyak UMKM di Kecamatan Medan Kota yang masih menghadapi tantangan dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam operasional mereka, termasuk penggunaan aplikasi Point of Sales (POS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi aplikasi POS pada Kelompok UMKM Karang Taruna Kecamatan Medan Kota sebagai upaya pemberdayaan ekonomi digital. Pada penerapan aplikasi point of sales akan menggunakan metode pengembangan perangkat lunak yaitu system development life cycle (SDLC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi aplikasi POS memberikan dampak positif terhadap efisiensi operasional UMKM hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil kuisioner yang menghasilkan nilai rata rata cukup baik dari sisi kinerja aplikasi, kemudahaan penggunaan, fitur yang tersedua dan kepuasaan secara keseluruha kemudian pelaku UMKM juga terbantu dalam hal pengelolaan transaksi, pengelolaan barang. Namun, penelitian ini juga menemukan beberapa hambatan, seperti keterbatasan literasi digital dan resistensi terhadap perubahan teknologi. Untuk mengatasi hambatan ini, disarankan adanya pelatihan intensif dan pendampingan yang berkelanjutan bagi UMKM. Penerapan aplikasi ini dapat meningkatkan daya saing UMKM dan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal melalui pemberdayaan digital. Dengan implementasi yang tepat, aplikasi POS dapat menjadi alat yang efektif dalam mempercepat transformasi digital UMKM, memperluas akses pasar, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan ekonomi.

Abstract

Keamanan adalah hal yang paling penting dalam kehidupan. Setiap orang membutuhkan lebih banyak keamanan di tempat tinggal mereka. Diharapkan bahwa sistem keamanan yang dirancang dengan baik akan memberikan rasa aman dan nyaman. Selain itu, tentunya sistem keamanan yang akan dibuat ini akan membantu mengurangi tingkat kriminalitas di masyarakat, terutama pencurian Keamanan pintu saat ini seperti menggunakan kunci konvensional. Jadi, kurang efisien untuk digunakan pada pintu karena terlalu banyak kunci yang harus dibawa, selain itu kunci konvensional mudah dibuka oleh pencuri. Pada penelitian ini, penulis membuat alat keamanan pintu untuk membantu masyarakat. Alat ini dibuat oleh penulis untuk memungkinkan masyarakat mengalami perkembangan seperti pintu dapat dikontrol melalui smartphone dan dimonitor secara otomatis menggunakan ESP32 CAM dan keamanan untuk membuka sebuah ruangan dengan berbasis teknologi Internet of Things (IOT) melalui media jaringan internet. Berdasarkan pengujian yang dilakukan, sistem ini mampu merespon dengan baik terhadap keamanan sebuah ruangan.

Abstract

Fire detectors with smoke and fire sensors integrated with Internet of Things (IoT)- based sprinkler systems are an important innovation in modern fire safety systems. The system combines sensor technology to detect smoke and fire in real-time, as well as an automatic mechanism to respond to danger by spraying water through sprinklers connected to the IoT network. By utilizing IoT, the system can send alerts to mobile devices and control centers directly when a fire is detected, enabling quick response and efficient coordination. This research discusses the design, implementation, and evaluation of this fire detector system, as well as its benefits in improving safety and reducing fire damage. Evaluations were conducted with simulated fires to test the detection accuracy and response effectiveness of the system, demonstrating significant potential in fire risk mitigation and property protection. Hardware design of fire monitoring equipment with water sprinklers based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using NodeMCU ESP8266, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Relay, and water sprinklers. The design of the hardware work stages can be seen in the following block diagram.

Abstract

Data security is a critical aspect of e-Campus services, which manage student information. However, the risks of data breaches and hacking pose significant challenges, undermining user trust. This study aims to optimize student data security by implementing multiple cryptographic methods that combine Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) algorithms. The research methods include analyzing current security vulnerabilities, developing a security model based on algorithm combinations, and testing its effectiveness through Avalanche Effect measurement, process time evaluation, and user satisfaction surveys. The results indicate that the AES and RSA combination provides stronger protection against security threats, achieving an Avalanche Effect value of 52,36% while ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and data authentication. This implementation also maintains process efficiency, making it suitabble for use in e-Campus environments. This study not only offers a practical solution to enhance data security but also provides implementation guidelines that can be adopted by other higher education institutions.

Abstract

Industrial waste management is a critical aspect of sustainable manufacturing, as improper handling can lead to severe environmental pollution and health hazards. Real-time monitoring of industrial waste parameters enables early detection of irregularities and supports informed decision-making for compliance with environmental regulations. This study presents the design of an IoT-based industrial waste monitoring system integrated with data visualization on a web application and enhanced by the supervised learning method for predictive analysis. The system utilizes IoT sensor nodes to measure key waste parameters such as pH level, temperature, turbidity, and chemical concentration. Sensor data is transmitted wirelessly to a cloud server, where it is stored, processed, and analyzed using supervised learning algorithms to classify waste quality and detect potential violations. The web application provides interactive dashboards, historical data tracking, and real-time alerts for stakeholders. Testing results demonstrate that the system achieves high accuracy in classifying waste conditions, offers user-friendly visual analytics, and enables proactive waste management. This research contributes to the development of intelligent environmental monitoring solutions, promoting efficiency, compliance, and sustainability in industrial operations.
