Abstract

Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr., or known as Kedongdong Pagar in Indonesia, family Anacardiaceae, Kedongdong Pagar leaves that has been proved by some villagers of Samakurok, Tanah Jambo Aye district, Northen Aceh, NAD, who consume boiled water of kedongdong pagar leaves to lower blood glucose levels. This study was to determine the class of chemical compounds contained in simplicia and ethanol extracts of the kedongdong pagar leaves from phytochemical screening results. The results of phytochemical screening showed that chemical compounds contained in simplicia and extracts of kedongdong pagar leaves were flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, tannins and steroids/triterpenoids. Based on the studies that have been carried out, Kedongdong Pagar leaves have great potential to be researched and further developed to become one of the sources of medicinal plants in Indonesia.

Abstract

Bingkat Village is one of the villages located in Pegajahan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province, with an area of 5.95 km2 or 595.96 hectares divided into 10 hamlets. Most of the land area in Bingkat Village is used as rice fields, which is 60.740% of the total land area and is used as fields and plantations of 26.830% of the total land area, so that the majority of heads of families in Bingkat Village are farmers. Healthy food is food that contains balanced nutrition, contains fiber and substances needed by the body for the child's growth and development process. Balanced nutrition can be useful as an energy substance, a regulator, and a building substance. Food also greatly affects children's digestion, so parents must be able to provide healthy food that can maintain children's digestion. So that it does not interfere with children's growth. Healthy food for digestion should be rich in nutritional elements such as carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins, and a little unsaturated fat, or more precisely abbreviated as the 4 healthy 5 perfect menu. Through this program by conveying about consuming Good and Healthy Nutritional and Nutritious Food. So that the community will avoid mistakes in choosing food and the negative impacts that may arise. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research on survey methods through interviews.. Based on the results of research that has been conducted in Bingkat Village with a total of 19 respondents, 72% know about choosing nutritious and nutritious food and 28% know about food additives (BTM), then the level of community knowledge about nutritious and nutritious food is higher compared to the level of community knowledge about food additives (BTM).

Abstract

Poor oral health is often caused by inadequate oral hygiene, leading to conditions such as bad breath and periodontal disease. Bingkat Village, located in Pegajahan Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency, is predominantly inhabited by farmers, with many housewives lacking productive activities to support their families’ income. This community service program aimed to provide training for PKK (Family Welfare Movement) women on producing mouthwash using natural ingredients, particularly torch ginger extract, which is known to contain antibacterial compounds. The implementation methods included educational sessions, hands-on training, and assistance with product formulation, packaging, and marketing. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in producing herbal mouthwash, as well as the emergence of economic opportunities through the development of local products.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the community’s knowledge and skills in making natural-ingredient massage oils as both an alternative health product and a business opportunity. The program was implemented in Bingkat Village, Pegajahan Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency, with the primary target being housewives who are members of the PKK group. The main challenges faced by the community partners include high reliance on chemicalbased products, limited understanding of the use of medicinal plants, and a lack of productive activities that support family economies. Implementation methods included outreach sessions, training, hands-on practice, and guidance in making massage oil using natural ingredients such as lemongrass oil and nutmeg seed oil. In addition, participants were also provided with training in packaging, business management, and basic marketing. The results of the activities showed an increase in the community’s knowledge and skills in processing natural ingredients into massage oil products that are safe, effective, and economically valuable. This program is expected to promote community selfreliance and increase family income through the development of businesses based on local potential.
