Abstract

In this study, we evaluated the current condition of the environmental conditions of aquaculture on watershed Tondano River in terms of physical and chemical parameters. Determination of sampling points at each station is placed vertically at three predetermined points from the brigde toward the front of the aquaculture, the distance between one point to the next point was ± 50 m; whereas for the analysis of water quality parameters was done using an HORIBA water quality meters type U-536. Determination points were done by purposive sampling which refers to the physiographic location wherever possible in order to represent or describe these waters. The research was carried out for 3 weeks and was done in 3 stages, morning, afternoon and evening. For direct measurement (in situ) was performed once a week at the three points which included parameters pH, temperature, conductivity, DO, Oxidation reduction potential, turbidity, TDS, depth and GPS. Generally, the result of water quality analysis at the aquaculture still in the water quality standard PP No.82 of 2001. Keywords: Evaluation, water quality, water Lake Tondano, Aquaculture

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the growth of seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii cultivated with Eucheuma denticulatum with different composition. This research was carried out for six weeks, from March to April 2013, in the coastal waters of Sondaken village, Tatapaan District, South Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi. The experiment was designed according to completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The four tested treatments were the different composistion of tied seaweed in a long-line raft, where treatment A: 100% K. alvarezii, ; B: 50% K. alvarezii and 50% E. denticulatum, on each culture line, two types of algae were tied in sequence; C: 75% K. alvarezii and 25% E. denticulatum, in which in each line, every three bunch of K. alvarezii was followed by one bunch of E. denticulatum; D: 25% of K. alvarezii and 75% E. denticulatum, on each culture line, every three bunch of E. denticulatum was followed by one bunch of K. alvarezii. Each experimental unit was a 3m x 3,4m rectangular line raft containing four culture lines where the bunch of the tested seaweed were tied. Data collection was performed every two weeks by weighing the tested K alvarezii. The data were statistically analyzed (ANOVA) using JMP statistical program (SAS-institute). The results showed that absolut growth, relative growth and daily growth rate of K. alvarezii was not significantly affected by the tested treatments (Prob> F > 0.5). Thus, the occurence of E. denticulatum in whatever abundance in K. alvarezii cultivation area will not affect the growth of K. alvarezii. Keywords: Seaweed, K. alvarezii, E. denticulatum, growth

Abstract

This study aimed: (1) to analyze the physical and chemical parameters of water quality of the giant travelly fish (Caranx sp) culture area in floating net cages (KJA) in Tuntung Timur Village, Bolaang Mongondow Utara Regency, and (2) to analyze the feasibility of water quality of the giant travelly fish (Caranx sp) in east Tuntung Village, North Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The  physical and chemical parameters of water at the cultivation site of Caranx sp in floating net cages were measured in situ, including temperature, salinity, brightness, dissolved oxygen and pH. Chemical physics parameters in floating net cages, namely: temperature ranges from 28.6 oC - 33.3 oC, salinity 30 - 33 0/oo, pH 7.6 - 7.9, oxygen content 3, 9 - 4.3 mg / l and water transparency of 7.4 m - 9.9 m. The giant travelly fish aquaculture in KJA in east Tuntung village is an enlargement activity, the seeds were stocked from bagan and the surrounding waters, the size of the seeds ranged from 8-12 cm, and the stocking density was 500-600 fish. Maintenance was carried out for 5-6 months and harvested at sizes 300-4000 gr/individu. The water quality surrounding KJA was ideal for fish farming activities.
