Abstract

Pepper is one of Indonesia's leading agricultural products. However, post-harvest handling of pepper, such as the threshing process, is still done traditionally. Efforts to overcome these problems done by developing a mechanical threshing process, including by designing and construction a mesh thresher cylinder type of pepper threshing. Test results show, this pepper thresher has a weakness, namely low threshing efficiency so that it needs to developed. Based on these conditions, research is needed that aims to develop, modify and done performance tests on the pepper thresher. The modification was made by making the contact angle between the thresher cylinder and the threshing net is 60o and resulted length of the threshing contact field of about 5.23 cm. The independent variable was the thresher cylinder rotational speed varied into 540, 471, 451 and 352 rpm. The dependent variables were capacity, threshing efficiency and percentage pepper of damage. The results of the analysis showed that the rotational speed of the threshing mechanism had a very significant effect on the capacity, threshing efficiency and the percentage pepper of damage. Increasing the speed of the thresher cylinder can increase the capacity and percentage of damaged pepper, but reduce threshing efficiency. The threshing efficiency increase of the pepper thresher before and after modification was from 35.8% to 95.93% on the approaching treatment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of solar panel circuits on current, voltage and power. This research is a true experiment. Dependent variables were current, voltage, and power. Independent variables were a series circuit of solar panels and a parallel circuit of solar panels. The sample numbers of studies were 12 for each group of independent variables. The data were analyzed using the t-test at the 5% signification level. The results showed that the electrical power produced by a series circuit of solar panels was, P = 4.81 watt, Sd = 0.24. The electrical power produced by a parallel circuit of solar panels was P = 4.69 watts, Sd = 0.13. The t-test showed that there was no difference in electrical power produced by the series circuit of solar panels and parallel circuit of solar panels, with to = 1.525 < tα/2, v =2,074. The form of a circuit (series or parallel) has no significant effect on power but differs only in current and voltage. In series circuit, I1 = I2 = IΣ and V1 +V2 = VΣ. In parallel circuits V1 = V2 = VΣ and I1 + I2 = IΣ. This can be adjusted to our purpose of using solar panels circuit. If it requires a large current, the solar panels must assemble in a parallel circuit. But if it requires a large voltage, the solar panels must assemble in a series circuit.Keywords: current, parallel, power, series, voltage

Abstract

The increasing number of vehicles every year provides opportunities to vehicles service. Vehicle components that often serviced or overhaul is the valve mechanism. How to remove the valve from the cylinder head generally use a manual valve remove tool. The time required to remove the valve using the tools need a long time. Effort to overcome these problems is to modify the existing valve remove mechanism. The purpose of this research is to design and test the performance of valve remove using lever mechanism. Performance test was conducted to determine the press force value to remove the valve, the percentage increase performance and time to remove the valve. The main components of the valve remove tool using the lever mechanism is frame, table, pole support, locking, hand grips, hydraulic, lever pusher and shaft sled. Testing using the valve mechanism is contained in the cylinder head Toyota Kijang 4K. The valve remove tool design has a simple form, easy to make, cheap, but has very good performance. The smallest of the press force to remove the valve is 129 N obtained at a distance of lock and poles support as far as 22 cm. The valve remove tool using the lever mechanism was design can remove the valve from the cylinder head in time 26,17 seconds/valve or 418,67 seconds to remove 16 valves on the cylinder head. This tool is able to improve the performance of manual valve remove tool screw type by 76,28%, and can improve the performance valve remove tool the pneumatic system by 65,79%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian komposit adalah memperkuat serat Bundung (Scirpus Grossus) untuk mengetahui sifat mekanik komposit terhadap kekuatan tarik. Metode yang dilakukan pada serat Bundung diberi perlakuan dengan perendaman 5% NaOH selama 2 jam, kemudian dipanaskan dengan temperatur 70°C selama 4 jam. Penyusunan serat Bundung  dengan gabungan orientasi sudut 0° dan 90° dengan resin polyester type 157 BTQN dengan variasi fraksi volume serat 20%, 30%, dan 40%. Hardener yang digunakan adalah MEKPO  berkonsentrasi 1%. Komposit dibuat dengan metode hand lay up. Spesimen dan prosedur pengujian tarik mengacu pada standart ASTM D638-03. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan  terjadi peningkatan kekuatan tarik pada penambahan fraksi volume sebesar 40% serat dengan perlakuan perendaman 5% NaOH selama 2 jam dengan pemanasan 70°C selama 4 jam. Kekuatan tarik tertinggi komposit serat bundung pada perlakuan perendaman 5% NaOH selama 2 jam dengan pemanasan 70°C selama 4 jam sebesar 67,56 N/mm2 dibandingkan dengan kekuatan tarik pada perlakuan perendaman 5% NaOH selama 2 jam tanpa pemanasan yaitu sebesar 54,25 N/mm2.

Abstract

The threshing process is one of the problems because currently is still mostly done manually. The development of a mechanical pepper threshing system has been carried out by making a pepper threshing machine. Further development is carried out by analyzing the mechanism of pepper threshing. Based on these problems, a research was conducted to analyze the length of the threshing contact area on the pepper threshing mechanism. The independent variable of the research is the length of the threshing contact area. The dependent variables were threshing capacity, threshing efficiency and damage percentage of pepper. The length of the threshing contact area was varied namely 2, 4, 6 and 8 cm. The threshing mechanism rotational speed used is 360 rpm. The tensile strength of the spring on the threshing net is 0,22 kg/cm. The amount of pepper processed in 1 test is 0,4 kg. Based on the test result, the length of the threshing contact area is inversely proportional to the threshing capacity, and directly proportional to the treshing efficiency and the percentage of damage. The highest capacity and the smallest damage percentage were obtained at a contact area length of 2 cm, respectively 109,09 kg/hour and 10,85%. The highest threshing efficiency was obtained at a contact area length of 8 cm is 95,09%.

Abstract

Sumpit adalah senjata tradisional secara umum berbentuk lurus memanjang. Faktor yang sangat mempengaruhi ketepatan sasaran menembak menggunakan sumpit adalah peralatan yang digunakan seperti peluru sumpit. Ekor peluru sumpit selama ini dibuat oleh pengrajin dengan cara tradisional. Ekor peluru yang dihasilkan dengan cara tradisional kurang baik dan tidak seragam. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, diperlukan teknologi berupa mesin yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat ekor peluru sumpit dengan bentuk, ukuran, dan berat yang seragam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan uji kinerja mesin pembentuk peluru sumpit. Data yang dianalsis dalam penelitian adalah kapasitas produksi mesin, pengukuran keseragaman ukuran dan berat. Kecepatan putar mesin yang digunakan untuk membentuk peluru sumpit adalah 720 rpm. Ukuran ekor peluru sumpit dibedakan menjadi kaliber 11, 13 dan 14. Ekor peluru sumpit terbuat dari bahan EVA dan pengamatan dilakukan menggunakan 10 sampel uji setiap pengujian. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, rerata kapasitas produksi mesin pembentuk peluru sumpit adalah 19,62 butir/jam. Nilai rerata tingkat keseragaman kaliber 11, 13 dan 14 pada bagian A adalah 98,96%, B 99,00%, C 95,96% dan D 91,55%. Tingkat keseragaman bobot ekor peluru sumpit kaliber 11 adalah 87,64%, kaliber 13 90,06% dan kaliber 14 adalah 86,72%.

Abstract

The partner in this program is the At Taqwa Farm group, Sekura Village. The focus of the At Taqwa Farm group is agriculture and animal husbandry. This group has been established since 2020, and has 55 goat farming. The main problem faced by partners is in the feeding process. So far, partners have provided food by taking grass or leaves with a scythe, then simply giving it to livestock. Based on the partner's problems, the service implementation team provided a solution in the form of applying technology using an animal feed chopper machine to the partners. The stages of service activities include chopping machine design, chopping machine manufacturing, chopping machine performance testing, training on operation and maintenance of chopping machines, as well as handing over chopping machines to partners. The grass chopper machine handed over to the partner can function well in chopping grass for animal feed. This really helps partners increase their grass chopping capacity, making the feed preparation process easier for partners.

Abstract

Permasalahan limbah sekam padi selama ini adalah tidak dimanfaatkan dengan optimal dan hanya dibiarkan menumpuk. Upaya penanganan masalah tersebut dapat dilakukan melalui pengembangan teknologi penghalusan limbah sekam padi agar dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pakan ternak. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan merancang bangun mesin penghalus limbah sekam padi dan mengetahui hasil pengujian berupa kapasitas penghalusan limbah sekam padi. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pembuatan rangka, hopper, poros, mata pisau, saringan dan finishing. Spesifikasi mesin yang dihasilkan memiliki dimensi 670 x 250 x 1100 mm, hopper memiliki tinggi 160 mm dan lebar 160 mm, poros memiliki diameter 25 mm, mata pisau silinder berjumlah 3 buah, mata pisau tetap berjumlah 2 buah, sabuk-v tipe A No. 49 berjumlah 1 buah. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas penghalusan limbah sekam padi meningkat seiring dengan naiknya kecepatan putar mesin. Pada kecepatan 700 rpm, rata-rata kapasitasnya hanya 2,59 kg/jam, namun meningkat secara signifikan hingga mencapai rata-rata 4,88 kg/jam pada kecepatan 1.400 rpm. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa kecepatan penghalusan yang lebih tinggi dapat mempercepat proses penghalusan dan meningkatkan volume bahan yang dapat diolah dalam satuan waktu.

Abstract

The partner was a business unit engaged in processing instant bubur pedas with the SuperBurdas trademark. This business started in 2022 until now it has grown rapidly. The problem experienced by partners was in the process of preparing raw materials. The process of preparing raw materials, especially for vegetables, was done traditionally using human labor. This process was quite time-consuming, labor-intensive and very impractical. Based on these conditions, the implementation team offered a solution in the form of applying fern leaf weeder machine technology to partners. This service activity includes making a fern weeder machine, machine functional testing, operation and maintenance training, asset handover and activity evaluation. This activity has an impact on increasing partner knowledge and skills and increasing work capacity in the instant bubur pedas production process. The fern leaf weeder machine is able to increase the capacity of manual weeding of ferns by 0.9 kg / hour to 3.15 kg / hour when using a machine.
