Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the hypothesis that there appears a systematic order of the acquisition of past tenses. It is claimed that irregular past tense verbs are acquired earlier than regular past tense verbs. In comparison to the acquisition of irregular and regular past verbs, the acquisition of the past copula be forms `was` and `were` is believed to take place much earlier. To test this hypothesis, the data were collected from forty-six students who were asked to write an essay with a minimum of 250 words to get data of the use of past tenses. The findings reveal partial support for the hypothesis, suggesting that the universal order of morpheme acquisition may not be a stable phenomenon.

The essays and interview were used to take data on student’s grammatical errors and his preferable types of feedback in his writing revision process. The result showed that the negative transfer from mother tongue does have negative influence to student’s ESL writing. In addition, the student prefers direct feedback better than indirect feedback in correcting their errors. Direct feedback is considered more beneficial because he can directly focus on the error and do immediate correction.

Abstract

This study aimed at finding out the technology-based teaching strategies implemented by English teachers in teaching English before and during COVID-19. This study applied a qualitative design with a case study approach. The participants were two English teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Galesong Utara. The data were collected by using interview and documentation, and they were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s theory consisting of three steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion/ verifying.  Furthermore, it was revealed from the study that before COVID-19, the teachers applied discovery learning, inquiry strategy, problem based learning teaching, contextual teaching strategies and interactive teaching in which they applied some technologies such as Internet, wireless speaker Bluetooth, PPT, and LCD in offline class. Meanwhile during COVID-19, the teachers implemented the lecture model through virtual classes, and monitored students and videos of discussions related to the material through WhatsApp, video conference, and by using self-made videos in which the teachers used technologies such as internet, smartphones, laptops, Zoom, Google Classroom, WhatsApp, Online Dictionary, and YouTube. The inhibited factors encountered by teachers before COVID-19 were intake or the reasoning ability, students thinking power which were still lacking, and extended time space for English lessons in class. While during COVID-19, the subdued factor was that students have difficulty in focusing and concentrating during teaching process, difficulty in accessing applications, smartphones and laptops that suddenly went error due to unstable signals. It is suggested that technology-based teaching strategies applied by the teachers should be adjusted with the conditions of the students, and it is pivotal to strengthen teachers’ mastery in technology to attract the students in ELT process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of MSME fund disbursement and non-performing financing (NPF) on Indonesia's economic growth in the 2015-2022 period. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The data used comes from secondary data sources, such as the financial statements of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results showed that partially, the distribution of MSME funds had a positive and significant effect on Indonesia's economic growth. This shows that financial support provided to MSMEs through the distribution of funds makes an important contribution in encouraging better economic growth. However, partially, non-performing financing (NPF) has an insignificant negative effect on economic growth. Although the NPF problem may affect the financial sector, the results of this research show that its impact on overall economic growth is not significant. Simultaneously, MSME disbursement and NPF have a positive and significant influence on Indonesia's economic growth. This result confirms the importance of good management of MSME disbursement and NPF control in supporting sustainable economic growth. The implication of this research is that proper allocation of funds to MSMEs can improve business efficiency and development. In addition, effective handling of the NPF problem can minimize its negative impact on economic growth. Thus, policies that support good disbursement of MSME funds and effective NPF control can contribute to stronger and more sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.
