Abstract

Teachers’ professional identity is created in the dynamic process of interpersonal interaction. This research aims to investigate how teachers negotiate their interpersonal role identities across physical and digital student-teacher interactions. By employing a descriptive qualitative design, this research used the ethnographic method. An interview guide was designed to seek an in-depth understanding of this phenomenon by gaining insights from ten high school teachers from Metro Manila. After collecting the data, an inductive approach is used to analyse the data. The research reveals that the teachers’ interpersonal identity standards and their appraisal of their interaction with their students on Facebook and their network logic align and are congruent with one another. The teachers’ interaction with their students online and offline is always guided by their perceived roles and responsibilities and their limitations and boundaries as teachers.

Abstract

Most organisations in the world are facing great challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They must struggle to sustain their business operation. Through a qualitative study, this study investigates how employees make sense of the COVID-19 pandemic, driving them to take actions of humanitarian solidarity to keep their organisation sustainable. Through a semi-structured interview, eight employees from various organisations were interviewed. The data were coded and analysed inductively. The findings reveal that employees’ sensemaking towards the pandemic encourages them to take actions on humanitarian solidarity to their organisation by working together, helping and supporting each other, promoting a feeling of unity, and being productive, motivated, and enthusiastic to maintain the sustainability of the organisation. Moreover, internalization of organic organisational values to employees promotes their humanitarian solidarity behaviours due to the pandemic by collecting information, processing information, reducing ambiguous and clearing complex information, building simple information, and supporting organisation.

Abstract

Family relationship changes occur due to economic and social disruption. The community service aims to empower ex-migrant families in Resapombo Village, Blitar. Resilient families are characterized by strong family bonds, harmonious relationships, and effective communication patterns. Meanwhile, the ex-migrant families have experienced long separations, difficult communication, and financial problems that eventually influenced the family harmony, that included the husband, wife and children, and economic stability. Programs implemented were a family harmony workshop on communication and resilience, a school seminar at SMKN 1 Doko on sexuality and reproduction, and training for cadres. The result of the workshops was creating a cadre team of eleven people by selecting and guiding candidates to assist families in conflict resolution and support. The seminar at school was such a success that the next programs were organized in the future.
