Abstract

This study aims to examine the competitiveness of tobacco cultivation in Sumenep Regency, the impact of government policies, and the sensitivity of changes in input and product prices to the competitiveness of the industry. This research utilized multistage random sampling as its sampling technique, involving 40 farmers as its total sample. The Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) method was used for data analysis and hypothesis testing. Sensitivity analysis was performed to quantify changes in input and output costs in the tobacco farming sector. The results showed that tobacco farming in Sumenep Regency had a comparative advantage with a Domestic resource cost ratio (DRCR) < 1 of 0.32 and a competitive advantage with a Private cost ratio (PCR) value <1, which was 0.43. The Effective Protection Coefficient (EPC) value of 0.75, this indicated that the policy was not operated efficiently, revealed that government policies on the competitiveness of tobacco production in Sumenep Regency had not had a positive impact on farmers. A decreasing trend in producer surplus was also revealed by the Net Transfer (NT) value of -Rp 18,046,000, the Profitability Coefficient (PC) value of 0.62, which proved that farmers' profits were diminished in the merely existence of a policy, and the Subsidy Ratio to Producer (SRP) value of -0.226, which forces farmers to pay more than their offset production costs. The outcomes of the most thorough sensitivity research also indicated that tobacco farming currently has competitive and comparative advantages.  Key words: comparative advantage, competitive advantage, tobacco farming

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of group dynamics and group performance on the achievement of independence within the Kosaghra Lestari farmer group in Surabaya City, as a representation of urban agriculture. A quantitative approach was employed, using total sampling of 42 group members. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach, assisted by SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that both group dynamics and group performance have a positive and significant effect on group independence, with path coefficients of 0.437 and 0.536, respectively. The R² value of 0.893 suggests that the combination of both variables explains 89.3% of the variance in group independence. Group performance exerts a more dominant influence, particularly in terms of task effectiveness, punctuality, and structured division of responsibilities. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening internal group capacity in fostering sustainable independence, particularly in the context of developing farmer groups in urban settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze raw material inventory control using the Material Requirements Planning method as raw material inventory control and to forecast inventory in 2024. The data analysis method is qualitative quantitative descriptive analysis. This analysis was carried out at CV Kopi Citarasa Persada. Efficiency data processing uses Minitab 21 and Excel. The problem in this study is related to frequent running out of raw materials due to late ordering by the company. The results of the study show that the availability of raw materials for coffee beans, packaging and stickers has a Lead Time of 4 days with the application of the Lot Sizing method, Part Period Balancing technique and the Wagner Within Algorithm which are the most efficient in obtaining minimum ordering costs in this study. Robusta ground coffee demand data for a year in 2023 produces forecast data for January and February 2024 by comparing the Moving Average and Single Exponential Smoothing techniques. The comparison results show that the Moving Average technique is suitable for forecasting raw material inventory because it has a smaller MAD value, the smaller the forecast value obtained, the more accurate it is in determining the size of the data as it was originally.   Keywords: Forecasting, Lot Sizing, Material Requirements Planning.

Abstract

Sugarcane raw material stocks in sugar factories need to be maintained at an optimal level to avoid either shortage or excess situations that ensuring smooth production. This study aims to analyze the procurement mechanism and inventory control of sugarcane raw materials, analyze the trend of sugarcane raw material procurement, and to analyze the inventory control of sugarcane raw materials. Research was conducted at PT PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo. Data was analyzed using descriptive analysis, trend analysis, and Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) analysis. Results of this study showed the procurement mechanism and inventory control of sugarcane raw materials by PT PG Candi Baru. The trend of sugarcane raw materials had decreased every period caused by several factors. The number of economical sugarcane orders in the last year 2023 was 1,491,545,174 tons. The amount of safety stock that must be owned by PT PG Candi Baru Sidoarjo was 234,044.8 tons. The number of reorder (Reorder Point) was 505,761 tons. The optimal total cost of sugarcane raw material inventory was IDR 20,885,934,920.14, while the company policy was IDR 20,998,060,000. It can be concluded that the EOQ method obtained more efficient results with a financial difference value of IDR 112,125,079.86.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food for Indonesia and should be available at an affordable price. This study aims to analyze the factors causing fluctuations in rice prices, and analyze the effect of changing prices on the livelihoods of rice farmers. The farmers’ welfare was calculated using Farmer Exchange Rate (FER). The analysis was conducted using a simultaneous equation model, utilizing time series data from 2009 to 2023. This study employed Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) and Multiple Linear Regression techniques. The findings reveal that rice production is significantly influenced by the previous year’s rice prices and the size of the harvested area. Meanwhile, the factors affecting consumption are the rice price variable and income levels, as well as the factors influencing rice prices, which include the price of unmilled dry grain, rice production, and the highest retail price. Meanwhile, regarding the welfare of rice farmers measured by the FER, it is known that the FER in East Java has fluctuated from 2009 to 2023. The highest contributor to the rice FER occurred in 2023, reaching 115.64%, with an average FER for East Java from 2009 to 2023 of 102.86%. This indicates that the Rice FER is in a surplus state, suggesting that rice farmers are prosperous.
