Abstract

The fourth generation industrial revolution is marked by the emergence of advanced technology. Every human activity depends on technology. The challenge of education is to prepare human resources that are invincible with machines. One job that has not been replaced by a machine is the ability to analyze and criticize. The application of critical reading 3 Ter to students needs to be improved to support literacy skills.This research is a quasi experimental study. The data of this study are critical reading scores. Critical reading scores were obtained from tests in grades A1-15 and A2-15 Surabaya Pharmacy Academy.Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the implementation of the 3 Ter strategy had a significant effect on reading the criteria for classes A1-15 at a significance level of 0.05. The average critical reading score of the class that received 3 Ter treatment was 66.4286, while theaverage critical reading score for the class that did not get 3 Ter treatment was 62.8000. The success is seen in the final test results that have been carried out.. Keywords: Critical Reading, 3 Ter

Abstract

AbstractResearch on overcoming exposure to radical issues with critical thinking on critical reading learning is still rarely done. This research is important to be carried out in the reading of the story to avoid radical issues that have been entered in university by using the Asco method (Analyzing, Solving Problems, Comparing). This research approach uses the Quasi-Times Design Series with Control Group experiment. The research data collection, namely the initial test scores and final tests. The experimental group was B2-18 and the control group was B3-18. Data analysis of this study used the One Way Anova SPSS test for Windows with a significance level of <0.05. The results of this study, namely (1) A homogeneous group test of 0.049 which was declared valid because> 0.05 to test this relationship; (2) Anova test of the two groups of 0,000 was declared significant because <0.05. The results showed that there was a significant influence of Asco (Analyzing, Solving Problems, Comparing) on critical reading learning.  Keywords: Asco (Analyzing, Solving Problems, Comparing), Implementation, Critical   ReadingLearning

Abstract

The text in a narrative has hidden meanings. It is necessary to dismantle and reconstruct the new meanings using critical discourse analysis (CDA). Related to that, this study aims to explore leftist narratives in Indonesia as contained in two books published by Tempo through van Dijk’s perspective of critical discourse analysis (CDA). This study used a descriptive-interpretative method which refers to CDA. The results reveal: First, the structure of the topic’s discourse raises the subject that Tempo is on the leftist side through diction, which depicts them as religious, kind, diligent, intelligent, and having a strong sense of nationalism. Microstructurally, in terms of setting, the leftists are those who were close to Sukarno, often recited the Quran (Muslims), repeatedly discussed with the public, and defended them. While in terms of graphics, Tempo books tend to be printed in red, symbolizing communism. Second, social cognition reporting in Tempo tends to side with the PKI and criticize Suharto concerning the G30S/PKI Movement. The two books reveal the ideological conflict between communism (Russia and China) and capitalism/colonialism (the United States and its allies). Third, from the aspect of context, leftists are innocent people and are the only victims of the regime in power.
