Abstract

The history of the Chinese diaspora to Indonesia is very interesting to discuss. The long process of the arrival of the Chinese community to Indonesia long before the arrival of westerners to Indonesia has formed a separate identity for the Chinese community who in the end had to accept the policy of 'assimilation'. This process is part of the representation of the Chinese community in Indonesia. The Chinese themselves feel that they are different from the natives in all respects, so the feeling of being a minority group is getting stronger. The Chinese increasingly showed their cultural identity after the construction of various facilities such as a special school for the Chinese, a Chinese cultural group, and a Chinese-language newspaper. In order to accommodate these interests and due to the pressure and atmosphere at that time, in 1954 the Indonesian Citizenship Consultative Body (BAPERKI) was formed. This study uses the historical method to explain the role of BAPERKI as a political identity and representation of the Chinese community in Indonesia. The stages that are passed are the heuristic stage (data collection), the critical stage, the interpretation stage and the historiography (historical writing). The increasing role of the Chinese community in Indonesia has caused them to form organizations that can protect their people, who indeed have a minority number. For that purpose, they formed BAPERKI. BAPERKI has a role as a socio-political organization of the Peranakan Chinese group in Indonesia. The issue of citizenship is the background behind the establishment of BAPERKI.

Abstract

The culture of the people of Tangerang Regency, starting from hat crafts to Tangerang batik crafts, is one part of local wisdom. To preserve it so that it doesn't become extinct or disappear, it is necessary to carry out an activity in the preservation and introduction of various Tangerang batik motifs to the public, especially students who are in Tangerang Regency. Thus, the problem of maintaining local wisdom values in the typical Tangerang batik motifs is an important matter for Tangerang Regency. Therefore, in introducing various Tangerang batik motifs, it is necessary to introduce them to schools. So, that schools in Tangerang Regency care about preserving their local wisdom. The research method used is a qualitative method, while the data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation. The research results are (1) there is a need for an introduction to local history based on the local wisdom values of Tangerang batik, because it will add local insight to students at SMAN 3 Kabupaten Tangerang; (2) the implementation of history learning on Tangerang batik craft material motivates students, because it is taught by history teachers who have prepared the learning process, both from lesson plans, materials, methods, and media specifically; and (3) the obstacles found in learning, namely the availability of material that is not widely available in the school library and the time allocation that is not sufficient to discuss broader material in learning local history.

Abstract

The study of writing has become an essential contributor to language learning research. Over the years, the existence of writing has led students to gain competence in learning a language. Throughout the process, students might have problems and experience errors that hinder them from producing the written product, especially an essay. Therefore, this study aims to critically identify and evaluate the students’ problems in writing essays, especially at Bina Sarana Informatika University. The research was conducted using a close-ended questionnaire with 37 questions regarding essay writing problems. Four significant problems: plagiarism, grammatical errors, lexical difficulties, and lack of planning became the focus of this study. Moreover, a lack of confidence also becames one of the problems in writing an essay. The finding of this research was that students agreed that lexical difficulties become the most common problem while writing an essay, with an average of 2,92. Interestingly, with an average of 2,3, the least common problem wass a grammatical error. By seeing the results from 21 respondents, it wass evident that the main thing that hinders students’ performance in writing an essay wass the difficulty in using the appropriate words and dictions based on context

Abstract

Pandemi covid-19 yang terjadi hampir di seluruh dunia, memengaruhi berbagai sektor kehidupan dan juga mengubah pola kehidupan masyarakat. Salah satu yang terkena dampaknya adalah sektor pendidikan yang berubah dari pembelajaran tatap muka ke pembelajaran secara virtual. Selain itu juga membuat media literasi yang digunakan semakin berkembang yang memaksa semua pihak harus mengikuti perkembangan tersebut supaya proses belajar mengajar tetap berjalan dengan lancar dan tujuan pendidikan tetap tercapai dengan efektif dan efisien. Perkembangan pendidikan yang dipengaruhi oleh situasi pula mengakibatkan segala sesuatu bisa dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran. Kemudian, dalam membangun sumber daya manusia dunia pendidikan dituntut untuk mampu mengikuti perkembangan aplikasi ilmu pengetahuan agar nantinya bisa menciptakan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi sesuai dengan kebutuhan pasar. Salah satu yang saat ini bisa diandalkan untuk menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran adalah internet. Internet menjadi sebuah sarana yang berperan penting dalam proses belajar mengajar, terutama pada situasi pandemi seperti sekarang. Pemanfaatan internet juga bisa dijadikan sebagai media belajar mengajar yang bisa dieksplorasi oleh para pengajar untuk mencari sumber bahan ajar, sehingga pembelajaran tidak monoton dan lebih menarik yang nantinya berimbas kepada motivasi dan prestasi peserta didik. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tim abdimas dari Universitas Indraprasta melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat, yaitu mengedukasi masyarakat yang terutama berkecimpung dalam dunia pendidikan, baik guru, peserta didik, maupun orang tua yang mendampingi peserta didik, mengenai pemanfaatan internet sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif. Jadi, internet dapat digunakan secara lebih positif.
