Abstract

Introduction: Female sex workers (FSWs) are high-risk group for exposure to STIs and HIV. FSWs are particularly vulnerable to STIs, HIV. Only about one in three FSWs receive adequate STIs, HIV prevention services and medical care. Objective: to analyze the relationship between knowledge, perceptions and support of community counselors on STIs prevention in FSWs. Method: Quantitative research with  analytic cross-sectional design. The population of this study is female sex workers in the Jingga Cipinang Community, East Jakarta. The sampling technique used was snowball sampling. Data were analyzed by chi square test and logistic regression risk model. Results: Perception variables, support from community counselors and support from health workers are associated with STIs prevention in FSWs. The results of the analysis showed that the most dominant variable was knowledge (p=0,0001) after being controlled by the information source variable, with the OR value of the knowledge variable 56.2. The multivariate model can explain that FSWs who have good knowledge will do 56 times better to prevent STIs than those whose knowledge is less after being controlled by the variable information sources. Conclusions: Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) should reflect two main topics, namely how to promote efforts to prevent and protect women from STIs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the "SMART" abdominal model as a clinical learning media in increasing student competence for assessing uterine fundal height in postpartum mothers. This research is a quasi-experimental research with The Posttest-only Control Group Design. The study was conducted in two groups, namely the treatment group and the control group. The population of this study was all students of the third semester of midwifery D III study program in two health polytechnic in Indonesia. The intervention group consisted of some students who were given assistance in using the "SMART" abdominal model to assess the height of the uterine fundus in postpartum mothers in simulated patients, while the control group consisted of some students without assistance in using the "SMART" abdominal model to assess height uterine fundus in postpartum women on a conventional abdominal model (Zoe's abdominal model). The total sample was 120 people, which were divided into 60 people from one Poltekkes as the control group and 60 people from another Poltekkes as the intervention group. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires, and observation. The type of data in this study is primary data. Data analysis uses Kai Square. The SMART abdominal model supports the achievement of learning competencies by 81.4%. There was no significant difference in competence when students used the SMART abdominal model on simulated patients or paired them with Zoe's abdominal model. For this reason, innovation and creativity of lecturers are needed in supporting the achievement of subject learning through the development of learning models and technology. In supporting the wider use of the model as a form of downstreaming research products that are integrated into the dharma of education, it is necessary to socialize and disseminate the SMART abdominal model and promote efforts through collaboration with industry and MSMEs.

Abstract

Breast models are one of the learning media used by simulated patients in midwifery care practicums. Simulated patients' perspective is a new understanding in the selection of learning media. It is hoped that the results of the reflection carried out by the simulation patient can be used for the procurement of laboratory equipment and the development of designing learning models that are lower cost but have good effectiveness. This study aims to obtain group reflections from simulation patients regarding breast models used by simulation patients for midwifery cares scenario. This research is conducted by descriptive-analytic research. The sample in this research is the total population of the simulated patients in one midwifery school in Jakarta (24 respondents). Data collection was carried out through questionnaires. There are 3 breast models. We coded these three models into A, B, and C. The research results show that based on model function indicators, model B has a better function with a mean of 4.00 compared to model A (mean 3.18) and model C (mean 3.93). Based on model design, model B is also considered to have the best design (mean 3.67) compared to models A and C. The results of this study show that the most recommended model to use is model B (91.6%), followed by model C (66.7%) and model A (50%). The simulation patient recommends that the use of breast models should meet several criteria such as ethical norms, the weight of the model, the flexible nature of the model, ease of use, and comfort, it can be combined with other learning models, and students are not afraid to use it without worrying about damaging it.
