Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of freshwater fish farming as an effort to support the minapolitan area of the Banyumas Regency. The research was carried out in Karang Lewas District. Data collection was carried out proportionally by interviewing the fish farmers of each fish farming group. Data analysis on the feasibility of fish farming was performed using the B/C ratio, PP, and BEP (Break-Even Point) criteria. The analysis method of the business feasibility was an analysis of business costs and income. Results of the analysis of B/C ratio value in fish farming was 1.13 to 1.69, BEP calculation used data according to the respondents, while the Payback Period (PP) of the fish farming ranged between 1.00-1.49 meaning that the capital return in less than 5 years. Those values state that the activities of freshwater fish farming have a capital return of more or less over 1 - 1.5 years. It shows that the business of freshwater fish farming in both hatcheries and fish rearing is feasible to maintain.

Abstract

TRANSFER OF ARTEMIA SP HATCHING TECHNOLOGY FOR FISH LARVA FEED IN KARYA MULYA 2 FISH CULTIVATION GROUP, PASIR LOR VILLAGE, BANYUMAS REGENCY. This community service aims to improve skills and knowledge about hatching Artemia sp as fish larvae feed through technology transfer to the Karya Mulya 2 fish cultivation group. The method used is “Participatory Rural Appraisal” which is to increase community participation and increase community involvement which is carried out through counseling, direct demonstrations and technical guidance. Technical guidance training activities include the preparation of tools in the form of aerators, aerator hoses, buckets and mixing spoons. Preparation of materials in the form of water, salt and cysts of Artemia sp. Followed by the practice of incubating Artemia sp and Harvesting Artemia sp. The results of this community service can improve the skills and knowledge of the Karya Mulya 2 fish farming group to apply simple Artemia sp hatching technology as feed to increase the growth of fish larvae.

Abstract

A study entitled “Chilled Preservation of Spermatozoa Half-moon Strain Fighting Fish (Betta spendens) in Honey and Physiological NaCl”, was conducted to determine preserved spermatozoa motility and viability of Fighting Fish in honey and NaCl solutions, under chilling temperature (-250C). The study applied Completely Randomized Design (CRD) to examine three treatments, i.e aquadest, 0.09% NaCl and honey extenders, with quantuplicates. Data, being spermatozoa motility (%) and viability (time in second), were F-tested (ANOVA) and followed by LSD test (P<0.01). After storage of 7 days, the result showed that spermatozoa motility did not differ between treatments, however the viability of spermatozoa were significantly different (P<0.01). The highest viability was observed in sperm stored in extender Honey averaging 368.90±102.16 seconds, compared to the 0.09% NaCl extender (81.79±8.54 seconds), and aquadest (187.90±35.36 seconds). It was concluded that the Honey, NaCl 0.09% and aquadest as extenders could be used as preservation solution fighting fish spermatozoa. The best viability of spermatozoa was observed in honey extender.

Abstract

Abstract

Fighting fish (Betta splendens) is one of the fresh water ornamental fish with highly commercial value. This fish has a distinctive morphological shape which is aesthetic and is easy to maintain. Demand for this fish increased leading to opportunities for cultivation. Quality and quantity of fries were constantly needed, and this could be achieved by manipulating reproduction. Photoperiod regimes could play a role to do this. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of photoperiods on the testis development of halfmoon strains of fighting fish. A completely randomized design was run to test 3 treatments in quintuplicates. The fish were reared under treatment P1 (10 hours light L and 14 hours dark D), treatment P2 (14 hours L and 10 hours D) and treatment P0 (12 hours L and 12 hours D). The fish were maintained for 35-d, in Aquatic Resources Laboratory of FPIK Unsoed. The results showed that treatment P2 was significantly different (P<0.05), which the highest spermatogenesis stage (54.78 ± 16.64%) was obtained. The study concluded that male fighting fish under P2 photoperiod could accelerate testicular maturation.

Abstract

Research on the diversity of fish species in the middle part of the Klawing River, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java Province, dealt with exploring the diversity of fish species in the middle part of the Klawing River. A survey method was applied to collect primary data during April-June 2022. Direct fish sampling was carried out at 3 stations in the middle part of Klawing River. The stations were chosen based on fish farming activities, domestic areas and accessibility. Station 1, 2, and 3 were located in Onje Village of Mrebet District, in Slinga and Lamongan Villages of Kaligondang District, respectively. The results showed that a total of 707 individuals were sampled, consisting of 23 species and 12 familia. Cyprinids dominated total samples. Diversity indexes were 1.94 and 1.99, in station 2 and 3, respectively. Diversity index in station 1 was 1.61. Dominance indexes were 0.26, 0.18, and 0.198, in station 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Evenness indexes consisted of 0.73 and 0.76, in station 1 and 2, respectively. However, evenness index in station 3 was 0.68.
