Abstract

Abstract. The use of turmeric is restricted by its low solubility in water, therefore it has low bioavailability. This obstacle can be solved by the development of nanoparticle technology to improve drug delivery profile. This study aimed to develop nanoparticle formulation using turmeric extract and industrial chitosan as the matrix and sodium-tripolyphosphate as cross linker, to study its ability to improve feed digestibility. Method used in the formulation of nanoparticle in this study was by ionic gelation followed by oven drying at 50°C. Method used to evaluate the digestibility  was total collection. One hundred and twenty broiler chickens with an average body weight of 900 g, were randomly divided into 20 treatments (one treatment was fasted and 19 were treated with the ration plus feed additive), and six replicates were performed on each test. Chickens were fasted one day before and after they were treated with rations. Nutrient levels and the amount of feed consumed and excreta released were weighed to calculate the digestibility of the ration. It was found that the basal ration had dry matter digestibility of 70.48% significantly lower compared to the basal ration plus nanocapsule turmeric extract: NP level at 0.4% for in EE and EA were 73.11 and 75.90%. The results of this study concluded that formulation of nanocapsule using turmeric extract and industrial chitosan as the matrix and sodium tripolyphosphate as cross linker was potential to increase nutrient digestibility, therefore, it can be an alternative for feed additive in broiler chicken diet. Key words: Digestibility, nanocapsule, turmeric extract, broiler chicken Abstrak. Penggunaan kunyit/kurkumin terbatas karena kelarutannya yang rendah dalam air sehingga bioavailabilitasnya juga rendah. Masalah ini dapat diatasi dengan teknologi nano yang dikembangkan sebagai alternatif penghantaran obat bagi bahan kimia yang mempunyai bioavailabilitas rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan formulasi nanokapsul menggunakan ekstrak kunyit dan kitosan industri sebagai matrik atau polimer serta sodium tripolifosfat sebagai cross linker, untuk dipelajari kemampuannya dalam meningkatkan kecernaan ransum. Metode yang digunakan dalam formulasi nanokapsul adalah gelasi ionik dilanjutkan pengeringan dengan oven pada suhu 50°C. Sedangkan metode untuk mengevaluasi kecernaan menggunakan total koleksi. Seratus dua puluh ekor ayam broiler dengan bobot badan rata-rata 900 g, dibagi secara acak ke dalam 20 perlakuan (satu perlakuan dipuasakan dan 19 diberi ransum perlakuan dengan penambahan feed additive), masing-masing enam ulangan dan satu ekor untuk tiap ulangan. Ayam dipuasakan sehari pada sebelum dan sesudah ayam diperlakukan dengan ransum, kadar nutrien dan jumlah pakan yang dikonsumsi serta ekskreta yang dikeluarkan ditimbang beratnya untuk menghitung kecernaan ransum. Telah ditemukan bahwa kecernaan bahan kering ransum basal (70,48%) nyata lebih kecil dibanding ransum basal yang ditambah nanokapsul ekstrak kunyit: pada  NP level 0,4% sebesar 73,11% pada EE dan 75,90% pada EA. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa formulasi nanokapsul menggunakan ekstrak kunyit dan kitosan industri sebagai matrik dan sodiumtripolifosfat sebagai cross-linker berpotensi sebagai feed additive alternatif untuk meningkatkan kecernaan nutrien pada ransum ayam broiler. Kata kunci: Kecernaan, nanokapsul, ekstrak kunyit, ayam broiler

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of nanoencapsulation liquid turmeric extract (NLTE) supplementation as a phytobiotic on organoleptic quality of broiler chicken meat. The research was conducted with a directional pattern completely randomized design. Eighty-four broiler chickens were raised from day old (DOC) to 42 days old chick. From DOC to 14 days old, chicks were fed with commercial feed (ME 3,100 kcal/kg; CP 22%; Ca 1%; P 0.75%). During 15-21 days of age, chicks were given a mixture commercial feed and basalt feed (ME 3,201.77 kcal/kg; CP 20.21%; Ca 0.90%; and P 0.43%). At 22-42 days old, they were given treatments by basal feeding. Seven treatments were replicated 3 times consisted of 4 broiler chickens for each replication. The treatments were positive control (P1), negative control (P2), water + NLTE 2% (P3), water + NLTE 4% (P4), water + NLTE 6% (P5), water + NLTE 8% (P6), and water + NLTE 10% (P7). The results showed that supplementation NLTE significantly increased (P<0.05) the taste of broiler meat. However, it did not show a significant influence (P>0.05) on the texture, colour, tenderness, and preference of meat.

Abstract

The study was purposed to find out income and feasibility of beef cattle farmers by intensive and conventional systems. This evaluation was done May  – July 2005. The matter used in this evaluation was 70  beef cattle farmers in Sleman Regency, using survey method. The result showed that beef cattle farmer profit by intensive system was Rp 36,943,964/year or Rp 3,078,663.7/month while by conventional system Rp 3,732,135.56 /year or Rp 311,011.3/ month. Rentability of beef cattle farmer by intensive system 46,3 % and conventional system 29,9 %. The conclusion indicated that beef cattle farmer both system by intensive and conventional were feasible. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik organoleptik nugget dari daging itik jantan yang yang diberikan perlakuan curing nanokapsul jus kunyit konsentrasi 3% dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Daging itik yang digunakan terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu daging itik jantan kontrol dan daging itik fungsional (hasil pemeliharaan dengan ditambahkan 4% nanokapsul jus kunyit dalam pakan). Kedua jenis daging ini dibuat olahan nugget itik jantan dengan dua perlakuan : (P1) nugget itik jantan tanpa curing dan (P2) nugget itik jantan dengan perlakuan curring nanokapsul jus kunyit sebanyak 3%. Selanjutnya diuji organoleptik dengan menggunakan 25 orang panelis semi terlatih dengan parameter: rasa, aroma, tekstur, warna dan keseluruhan. Data yang diperoleh di uji dengan t-test menghasilkan perbedaan yang nyata (P < 0,05) pada variabel rasa , aroma, warna dan kesukaan keseluruhan nugget serta berbeda tidak nyata (P > 0,05) pada variabel tekstur. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan nanokapsul jus kunyit sebesar 3% sebagai bahan curing dalam pembuatan nugget itik dapat meningkatkan kualitas organoleptik meliputi rasa, aroma dan warna nugget itik.

Abstract

The study was purposed to find out income and feasibility of local and imported dairy cattle farmers member of warga mulya cooperation. This evaluate was done My 15-June 20 2005. The matter used is this evaluate were 27 local dairy cattle farmers and 6 import dairy cattle farmers member of warga mulya in Sleman regency. Using survey method. The result showed that Dairy cattle farmer was profit Rp. 565.394,26/AU/year, while import dairy cattle farmer was lose Rp. 84.585,81/AU/year. RCR for local was 1,11 and import 0,98. Rentability local Dairy cattle farmer = 0,77% and import -1,55%. The conclusion indicated that local Dairy cattle farmer was profit while import Dairy cattle farmer was loosely and the economics analysis of both was unfeasibility.

Abstract

Samben hamlet is one of 14 hamlets in Argomulyo village. Some of its residents are members of the “Antik_Mulya” food group which is the partner of this community service program. KUB- Chickens are livestock now widely developed by the community in Samben hamlet. Chicken-KUB production has weaknesses such as low meat content and more dominant bone composition, high-fat content, fishy smell, and tougher meat. The purpose of this activity is to increase the members’ knowledge to produce better quantity and quality of meat and also new skills regarding the diversification of processed KUB chicken. The problems experienced by partners include 1) Lack of knowledge and skills regarding diversification of processed KUB chickens, 2) Lack of knowledge and skills of farmers in making chicken feed 3) Lack of understanding of KUB chicken’s health management including sanitation and vaccination. The solutions to these problems are: 1) Training on functional soft bone KUB- chicken processing with turmeric nanocapsules curing treatment to increase the selling value of the product. 2) Training and counselling on the manufacture of animal feed with turmeric nanocapsules feed additives to produce animal feed from local and healthier ingredients and reduce the use of synthetic antibiotics. 3) Business management training and especially livestock health including sanitation and vaccination. Implementation methods include socialization, technology dissemination, evaluation, and monitoring. The result of this service is an increase in partner knowledge from 55% to 85%, from the skill aspect it has increased from 45% to 88%, and from the business management aspect, it has also increased from 50% to 78%. The technology provided is very easy to apply as evidenced by a high rating from the community of 75%.  ---  Dusun Samben salah satu dari 14 dusun di Argomulyo, sebagian warganya tergabung dalam kelompok Boga “Antik_Mulya” yang  menjadi khalayak mitra program pengabdian masyarakat ini. Ayam-KUB merupakan ternak yang sekarang banyak dikembangkan oleh masayarakat di dusun Samben. Produksi ayam-KUB memiliki kelemahan seperti rendahnya kandungan daging serta komposisi tulang yang lebih dominan, kandungan lemak yang tinggi, berbau amis serta daging lebih alot. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah agar mitra mampu menghasilkan kuantitas dan kualitas daging yang lebih baik serta memiliki keterampilan mengenai diversifikasi olahan ayam KUB agar dapat diterima oleh konsumen. Permasalahan yang dialami oleh mitra antara lain: 1) Kurangnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan mengenai diversifikasi olahan ayam-KUB, 2) Kurangnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan peternak dalam pembuatan pakan, serta 3) Masih rendahnya pemahaman mengenai manajemen kesehatan ternak ayam KUB meliputi sanitasi dan vaksinasi. Solusi yang diberikan  adalah: 1) Pelatihan pengolahan ayam_KUB tulang lunak yang fungsional dengan perlakuan curing nanokapsul kunyit untuk meningkatkan nilai jual produk. 2) Pelatihan dan penyuluhan pembuatan pakan ternak dengan aditif pakan nanokapsul kunyit untuk menghasilkan pakan ternak dari bahan lokal yang lebih sehat dan mengurangi penggunaan antibiotik sintetis.  3) Pelatihan manajemen usaha dan juga manajemen kesehatan ternak meliputi sanitasi dan vaksinasi. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan mitra tentang pengetahuan produksi pakan dan kesehatan ternak mitra meningkat dari 55% menjadi 80%, keterampilan mitra dalam memproduksi ayam KUB tulang lunak dengn metode curing juga meningkat dari 45% menjadi 88% serta menajeman usaha mitra juga mengalami peningkatan dari 50% menjadi 78%.  Selain itu tingkat kemudahan mengenai teknologi yang diberikan memperoleh penilaian yang tinggi dari mitra sebesar 75%.
