Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the strengthening of character education through teachers and parents role model at school and at home. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected through survey and interview by using purposive sampling. The data is analyzed using qualitative data analysis technique. Character education is important in shapping students into individuals who have noble character and good manner. Schools as formal educational institutions are responsible for instilling the values of character education toward their students. Teachers must be the best role models for students in strengthening character education in schools. The parents’ role also determines the success of character education at home. Based on the results of research at MI Ma'arif NU Karanggedang 2 Purbalingga, the values of character education exemplified by teachers and parents are religious character, honesty, tolerance, discipline, social care, creative, independent, care for the environment, love to read, love peace , friendly/ communicative, appreciate achievements, love the homeland, democratic, and responsibility.

Abstract

Teachers must be able to make various innovations in learning. One of the innovations that can be made is in learning media in order to foster student learning motivation. Learning media is an important component in improving the quality of interaction between teachers and students and between students and their learning environment. Teachers must have good skills in choosing and using learning media. This study aims to describe and analyze audio, visual, and audio-visual media innovations in learning the Indonesian language and literature to improve student learning creativity at MI Ma'arif NU 1 Sokanegara Purbalingga. To obtain the data, the researcher used observation, interview, and questionnaire techniques. Data analysis was done qualitatively. The results showed that teachers at MI Ma'arif NU 1 Sokanegara Purbalingga had already innovated in learning media. The media used can function well in the learning process and can stimulate students' imagining and thinking so that students are able to issue new ideas according to the learning theme. The media most often used by teachers in learning is audio-visual media. This medium is able to increase students' creativity because of its convenience, transparency, objectivity, and flexibility.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach into Indonesian language learning at MI Maarif 02 Bajing Kulon. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research examines how STEAM-based learning affects students' language skills, creativity, and 21st-century competencies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, classroom observations, and document analysis. The study found that project-based and inquiry-based learning models, which combined various STEAM disciplines, effectively enhanced students’ Indonesian language proficiency. For example, students engaged in activities such as designing water filtration systems and creating persuasive posters, which required them to apply language skills in real-world contexts. This interdisciplinary approach not only improved vocabulary and sentence structure but also fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. However, the study also identified challenges, including resource limitations and the need for teacher training in STEAM pedagogy. Despite these obstacles, teachers demonstrated creativity and adaptability, using available resources and peer collaboration to implement STEAM effectively. The findings suggest that integrating STEAM into language education can transform learning by promoting active engagement, enhancing language development, and preparing students for future challenges. The study concludes that STEAM-based language education holds significant potential for reforming teaching practices in MI Maarif 02 Bajing Kulon, contributing to the holistic development of students by fostering linguistic, cognitive, and social skills essential for the modern world. Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of argumentative literacy among elementary school students, as indicated by their inability to construct claims, provide evidence, and develop logical reasoning. This study aimed to analyze the improvement of students’ argumentative literacy through deep learning-based Indonesian language instruction at SDN 3 Kemawi. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest model. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and N-gain calculation. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ argumentative literacy skills, with the mean score increasing from 51.25 in the pretest to 75.75 in the posttest, and an N-gain value of 0.50, which falls into the moderate category. In addition, there was a noticeable change in students’ learning behavior, as they became more active, critical, and collaborative during the learning process. These findings indicate that deep learning-based instruction is effective in developing higher-order thinking skills and students’ argumentative literacy. This study implies that the implementation of student-centered learning with a meaningful learning approach can serve as a strategic alternative to improve the quality of Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the implementation of local wisdom-based digital storytelling in elementary school learning and its contribution to students’ literacy development. The background of this study is based on the importance of integrating technology and local culture to enhance the quality of contextual and meaningful learning. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by analyzing scientific articles indexed in Google Scholar based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis process is conducted through identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of data from various relevant studies. The results indicate that local wisdom-based digital storytelling is effective in improving reading and writing literacy, digital literacy, as well as cultural and civic literacy among students. In addition, this approach is also able to enhance learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and critical thinking skills. Therefore, the integration of digital storytelling and local wisdom becomes an innovative and relevant strategy to support 21st-century learning in elementary schools.
