Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk (1) meningkatkan motivasi siswa SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong dalam belajar bahasa Inggris secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan; (2) metode pembelajaran Scaffolding self-assessment saat proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris; (3) memberikan variasi aktivitas pembelajaran agar tidak selalu berfokus kepada guru. SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong mengharapkan para siswa untuk bisa belajar secara mandiri, dikarenakan sangat terbatasnya waktu bagi guru untuk menjelaskan secara mendalam setiap mata pelajaran, apalagi selama masa pandemic, pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring, sehingga hasilnya belum bisa seperti yang diharapkan. Guru mengalami kesulitan dalam memantau tingkat pemahaman pada setiap siswa dalam memahami mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris dikarenakan terbatasnya instruksi yang bisa diberikan kepada siswa melalui daring. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris karena inti dari metode scaffolding self assessment adalah mengajak siswa untuk bisa belajar lebih mandiri tidak bergantung kepada guru sehingga dapat dijadikan salah satu referensi untuk siapa saja yang akan memberikan variasi baru untuk pelatihan bahasa Inggris dalam pembeljaran bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris; Self Assessment; Scaffolding

Abstract

SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Tangerang Selatan menuntut guru- guru untuk selalu dapat mengikuti pelatihanpengajaran agar para guru senantiasa dapat mengembangkan kemampuan masing-masing individu dalammenyampikan mata pelajaran. Keterbatasan waktu dan jarangnya ada pelatihan guru yang dapat merekajangkau dengan mudah membuat mereka jarang mengikuti pelatihan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahantersebut maka kami tim dosen Universitas Pamulang dalam rangka melakukan tri dharma perguruantinggi yaitu salah satunya adalah Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat, menawarkan diri untuk hadirmemberikan wawasan yang berbeda tentang Cooperative Learning. Kegiatan pengabdian kepadamasyarakat berupa Pelatihan Cooperative Learning untuk Guru – Guru SMK Muhammadiyah 2Tangerang Selatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan dalam pengembanganpembelajaran guru. Kemampuan mengembangkan pembelajaran diharapkan dapat meningkatkan motivasisiswa untuk belajar terutama dalam bekerja kelompok dan saling bertukar pikiran untuk memecahkanmasalah bersama. Khalayak sasaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah guru-guruSMK Muhammadiyah 2 Tangerang Selatan yang berjumlah 31 orang. Pelatihan Cooperative Learninguntuk Guru-Guru SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Tangerang Selatan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah,demonstrasi dan latihan yang disertai tanya jawab. Metode ceramah digunakan untuk menjelaskan konseppengantar dan teori media pembelajaran. Metode demonstrasi digunakan untuk menunujukkan tahapanpembelajaran menggunakan model Cooperative Learning. Sedangkan metode latihan digunakan untukmempraktikkan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model Cooperative Learning. Dan tanya jawabdilakukan untuk memberi kesempatan peserta pelatihan berkonsultasi dalam mengatasi kendala yangdihadapi dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran tersebut.

Abstract

During COVID-19, teaching and learning activities were carried out in online learning. One of the learning media used by a number of schools in these activities is application of video conference, Google Classroom. The use of this media is certainly very helpful for teachers in carrying out learning and it is easier for students to gain knowledge. This study aims to determine the planning of online English learning by using the Google Classroom application, the effectiveness of implementing online English learning by using the Google Classroom application and knowing the problems faced and how to solve them in online English learning by using the Google Classroom application in SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong, South Tangerang. This research was conducted through several stages, such as analyzing, compiling materials, collecting and processing data, and reporting research results. Google Classroom usage in online learning English  at SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong obtained quite effective results. The results of this study were produced from the average of data of the questionnaire given to the students of SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong.

Abstract

In education, students’ English skill are indispensable in learning process. The teacher as facilitator will provide the best teaching and learning process for students. English is a subject that develops communication skill both orally and writing, understands and expresses some information. This subject is no longer that limited grammar but it can also develop students’ skill in communicating. For this reason, creative methods are needed that can make students more active and interesting in learning English. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, English learning activities are now offline. Even though learning is done online, teachers must be able to provide knowledge in an interesting and creative way. One of the methods used in online learning is by using the Google Meet Video Conference application, where teachers and students can still meet face to face, even though virtually. The purpose of this study was to (1) determine the online English learning plan using the Google Meet Video Conference application at SD Negeri Ciledug Barat, Pamulang, South Tangerang. (2) Knowing the implementation of online English learning by using the Google Meet Video Conference application at SD Negeri Ciledug Barat, Pamulang, South Tangerang. (3) Determine the evaluation of online English learning by using the Google Meet Video Conference application at SD Negeri Ciledug Barat, Pamulang, South Tangerang. (4) Knowing the obstacles faced and how to overcome them in learning English online by using the Google Meet Video Conference application at SD Negeri Ciledug Barat, Pamulang, South Tangerang. This research begins with conducting field studies, identifying and formulating problems, then proceeding with determining goals and collecting data and processing data. In the end, this research will produce scientific papers that are presented in seminars on the use of the Google Meet video conference application in online English learning for students at SD Negeri Ciledug Barat, Pamulang, South Tangerang.
