Abstract

Autism is one delay in child development. It is the result of complex and varied brain development disorders, one of them is disturbance in sensory system (sensory integration) in children. The disturbance causes the children to be unable to adapt optimally, thus, it affects behavioral and psychological responses of children with autism in their environment. The number of children with autism increases from year to year, including in Surakarta. A rehabilitation centre is therefore needed in this city. This rehabilitation centre for children with autism is uses a functional recovery for behavior, occupation, and nervous system (neurons), and sensory systems of children who experienced the disorder to regenerate its form or function. This rehabilitation centre will accommodate medical, therapeutic, and educational activities by using  special environmental designs planned according to the sensory needs and specific stimuli needs for each different autistic child. The design concept of this rehabilitation centre focuses on the sensory needs of children with aurism. It will be applied through building physical elements in the form of inside and outside spatial elements. Both elements will be designed with various considerations of the choice of attributes or architectural elements, such as: design principles, shapes, scales, colors, building materials. These considerations will create specific effects for each individual with different levels of sensory perception disorder. This rehabilitation favility will provide 5 special zones for autistic children which are categorized  based on the level of disturbance and condition of the children. The categorization is expected to play a major role in accelerating the process of healing and development of children physically, psychologically, intellectually, and socially. Consequently, it can  establish a child with autism into an independent, creative, exist, and skilled human as other normal children.

Abstract

The number of autism sufferers worldwide is increasing, but not yet followed by optimal handling. The cost of autism therapy is unaffordable by the general public because of the need for a specific and expensive container. Need to improve the quality of handling, especially in space for activities that contribute to the process of autism therapy. In this study, an evaluation of the autism school in Surakarta and surrounding areas and made recommendations for solutions to the existing problems. The method used is qualitative rationalistic with post-occupancy indicative evaluation. Data obtained from field observation of research object, interview with related parties, and literature study. The data obtained is processed by emphasizing the meaning of empiri, understanding and intellectual ability to argue logically with supported empirical data and relevant theory. From the results of these evaluations, prepared spatial planning recommendations based on design criteria that are positively oriented towards increasing autism independence. From the results of the study known that the existing space can be used quite well, although technically inadequate, need improvement in order to function more optimally. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference for autism school planning in the future.

Abstract

The railway station at Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang is a work of architecture discipline. The goal is to get the design of the airport train station in Semarang. With the railway station at Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang is to facilitate passengers who want to continue their journey, either from plane to train or vice versa. It is also expected that with this railway station can reduce congestion that occurred in Semarang, people outside Semarang who want to pick up his family at the airport do not have to come all the way to Ahmad Yani airport, because passengers domiciled outside the Semarang can Use a train to get to their respective areas. By using the accessibility method, it is expected that this station can facilitate the passengers who want to use rail transportation modes or who want to change the mode of transportation. Of course, the selection of the site has also been through several analyzes. The chosen site is also very precise because it is on the south side of the Ahmad Yani airport and is on the railway line. And also on the east side of the tread is the main road to get to the airport. So, on the highway is access to the station. The shape, layout and location of the station building also prioritizes the accessibility of its users. The facilities provided are also designed to facilitate passengers such as the addition of escalators, travellators, ramps, guiding blocks, bridges, etc. The concept used indirectly can provide convenience and comfortable of the passengers who want to change the mode of transportation. Keywords: railway station, airport station, intermodal transportation integration, accessibility
