Abstract

The mobility of labor in informal sector is considerably high, that causes the labor force becoming easy to get into the sector so it is expected to be a platform between job opportunity and the unemployment. That phenomenon can be seen through the job opportunity that widely open as formal sector labor in Denpasar, especially which operates in traded sector. Most of the traders in informal sector run their business by building the “warung tenda”, and also by using the “gerobak dorong”. Location usually becomes a consideration in operating their business. The location which is a center of public activity becomes their main option, because the chance to earn money is greater. This study generally aims to determine the characteristic of food trader “gerobak dorong” in 4 (four) subdistricts in Denpasar. This study also aims to determine whether the income disparity exists in food trader “gerobak dorong” among the subdistricts in Denpasar. The result is expected to be a reference in informal sector making policy in Denpasar. In total of 100 respondents, most of food traders “gerobak dorong” are in range of age 35 to 44 years old (35 percent). In amount of 68 percent of the traders are from East Java, and 33 percent new respondents have been operating the business less than 5 years. The result of the analisys which is conducted by using Kruskall-Wallis method suggests that the average of income disparity of food trader “gerobak dorong” in four subdistricts in Denpasar is different. It is in line with the statement of this research background that says different location results in different income. Location determines their success in trading. The location which is a center of public activity becomes their main option, because the chance to earn money is greater.

Abstract

The challenge regarding the quality of the workforce in Indonesia is still a major problem because the majority of the workforce are only elementary school graduates. The quality of human resources in Bali is still low compared to foreign workers working in Bali. Tanah Lot will be the most visited place by domestic tourists in 2024. Tanah Lot, which is located in Beraban Village, Kediri, Tabanan, makes Beraban Village the village most involved in tourism management including the provision of tourism support facilities. This condition requires Beraban Village to have a qualified and highly competitive workforce. This study aims to analyze the effect of parental income, father's education, mother's education, parental dependents, job opportunities, and scholarships simultaneously and partially, and to determine the variables that have the most dominant influence on the level of education of the workforce in Beraban Village. The sample used was 120 people with a simple random sampling method. The analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and multiple linear analysis. The results of this study indicate that parental income, father's education, mother's education, parental dependents, job opportunities, and scholarships simultaneously affect the level of education of the workforce. Father's education, mother's education, and job opportunities partially have a positive and significant effect on the level of education of the workforce. While the variables of parental income, parental dependents, and scholarships partially do not have a significant effect on the level of education of the workforce. Mother's education has the most dominant influence on the level of education of the workforce. Parents who have higher education can provide a better understanding of education and can encourage them to continue their education to a higher level.

Abstract

The development of the industrial sector is significantly influenced by various factors aimed at optimising resource utilisation. One notable product of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bali is traditional handwoven fabric. This study aims to examine both the joint and individual effects of capital, working hours, raw materials, and business duration on the production level of the weaving craft industry in Jembrana Regency. A quantitative approach with an associative research method was employed. Data were collected from 94 weaving artisans, selected from a total population of 234 using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, classical assumption tests, F-tests, and t-tests to assess the relationships among variables. The findings reveal that capital, working hours, raw materials, and business duration collectively have a significant effect on weaving production. However, partially, only capital and raw materials have a positive and significant impact, while working hours and business duration do not show significant effects. Therefore, weaving industry players in Jembrana are advised to better optimise the use of capital and raw materials in their production processes.

Abstract

Dowry is a tradition that has existed for a long time and exists in many cultures around the world, including in Indonesia. Although dowry has symbolic and cultural significance, this tradition can cause several problems, especially related to gender equality. The purpose of this study is to compare the practice of dowry that applies in several countries and to examine the relationship between dowry practices and gender equality issues. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation of various relevant literature, with descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the practice of dowry in several countries has differences where there are countries that practice dowry or dowry given from the woman's to the man's side, or the man's to the woman's side. In addition, there are countries that practice dowry given by the man or woman individually, which is used for the business capital of a new family that is formed. The results of the study also show that the practice of dowry in several countries reflects gender inequality that is still deeply rooted in patriarchal culture. This reduces women's autonomy and strengthens the power imbalance in marital relationships. Despite international efforts such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women that seek to address this discrimination. Therefore, it is important to eliminate the practice of dowry that is not in accordance with the principle of gender equality in order to promote a fairer and healthier marriage relationship.

Whereby people migrate to obtain employment due to high wages and job opportunities in the destination area. This research analyzes the factors influencing the population's decision to engage in circular migration to Badung Regency. The analytical tool used is logistic regression analysis, specifically Binary Logistic Regression. The sample consists of 123 respondents. The research results indicate that variables such as wage levels, number of family dependents, gender, activities in the area of origin, distance, age, and squared age collectively and significantly influence the decision of the population to engage in circular migration to Badung Regency.  Partially, the research results show that the number of family dependents, gender, activities in the area of origin, and age significantly positively affect the decision of the population to engage in circular migration to Badung Regency.
