Abstract

This paper aims at describing the student’s listening skill and their learning difficulties in listening comprehension. The method used was a descriptive method. The instruments were pre-TOEFL test and questionnaire. The population was the second year students of State University of Makassar. The results of this research are: the students have poor score in their listening comprehension and the students' learning difficulties in listening comprehension are: problem in interpretation, the lack of vocabulary, difficulty to concentrate, problem with lecturer's accent, confusion in similar phonemes, the speed of the speech problem in accent, problem in reduction and there are no repetitions and in learning media, the noise from students themselves, unclear sound, air conditioner problems and seat position. Based on the result, the writer concludes that the students' ability in listening comprehension is still poor, the teacher should motivate them to develop the habit of writing daily listening so that they can improve their skill.

Abstract

The partner of this Community Partnership Program (PKM) was SMP Negeri 29 Makassar. The problems are: (1) the lack of vocabulary mastery, (2) the lack of English speaking skills, (3) lack of student confidence in speaking English, and (4) lack of fluency in speaking in English . External targets are English vocabularies and their meanings in accordance with student learning outcomes. The method used is: lectures, demonstrations, discussions, questions and answers, and counterpart partners. The results achieved are (1) partners have knowledge about vocabulary in English, (2) partners have English speaking skills, (3) partners have confidence in learning and developing English speaking skills.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan profesional guru. Dengan PTK diharapkan guru dapat melakukan observasi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai saran, teori, yang dapat membantu peserta didik dalam belajar. Selain itu, PTK dapat membantu lebih meningkatkan kualitas hasil pembelajaran. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini diselenggarakan di SMAN 1 Tammerodo Desa Seppong Kec.Tammerodo Sendana Kab. Majene Prov. Sulawesi Barat. Kegiatan PkM ini bertujuan melatih para guru untuk menyelesaikan PTK. Pada awalnya guru yang mengikuti pelatihan tersebut tidak begitu memahami langkah-langkah untuk menyelesaikan PTK, namun setelah pelatihan mereka paham. Selama 32 jam yang terbagi dalam beberapa sesi, para guru memahami langkah-langkah melakukan PTK. Pendampingan diselenggarakan sebagai metode pelatihan untuk menjelaskan dan membimbing para guru tersebut dalam melaksanakan PTK. Kata Kunci: Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, Guru Profesional,  Sulawesi Barat

Abstract

Abstrak. Keterampilan belajar dan inovasi semakin diakui sebagai keterampilan yang memisahkan siswa yang dipersiapkan untuk kehidupan dan lingkungan kerja. Fokus pada kreativitas, pemikiran kritis, komunikasi, dan kolaborasi diperlukan untuk mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi masa depan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengukur keterampilan 4C siswa secara umum, mengidentifikasi keterampilan siswa dalam komunikasi lisan dan tertulis , dan mengidentifikasi keterampilan menggunakan teknologi dalam belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif adalah metode yang berlandaskan postpositivisme. Penelitian ini akan mendeskripsikan hasil dari penerapan 4C dalam mengembangkan HOTS siswa kelas 7 SMPN 27 Makassar. Hal ini dilakukan melalui wawancara guru SMPN 27 Makassar tanpa adanya rekayasa. Penggunaan metode penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan penerapan 4C dalam mengembangkan HOTS yang disajikan dalam bentuk deksripsi. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan bahwa 4C mampu meningkatkan HOTS siswa.Kata Kunci: penerapan, 4C (communication, collaboration, creaitvity, critical thinking), higher order thinking skill

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between students’ WTC and teacher immediacy behaviors, to reveal what kind of immediacy behaviors are used in English classrooms, and to understand how students perceive teacher immediacy that affects students’ WTC. The researcher employed a QUAL-quan model or exploratory mixed methods design. The data was collected through observation, questionnaire, and interview to achieve the research objective. The sample of this study was 30 students in second grade in MAN Pangkep. The questionnaire analysis using Pearson Product Moment found that students’ WTC and TI have a positive correlation of 0.7013. And observation results showed that the teacher used various immediacy, including verbal and non-verbal behaviors. And students have a positive viewpoint on teacher immediacy affects their willingness to communicate.

Abstract

The problem in this study is how effective the use of character-based animated film media is on students' short story writing abilities so that this study aims to examine the ability to write short stories for class XI SMA Negeri 5 Barru Regency without using character-based animated film media, using character-based animated film media , and found the effectiveness of using character-based animated film media on the ability to write short stories for class XI students of SMA Negeri 5 Barru Regency. This research is an experimental research. The population of this study was all students of class XI SMA Negeri 5 Barru Regency, totaling 343 people. The sample of this research was students of class XI-1 (experimental class) and class XI-3 (control class), each consisting of 30 students. The data collection technique used is the test analysis technique. The entire data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and inferential statistical techniques. The results of the study showed (1) the ability to write short stories of students without using character-based animated film media increased but not too significant, (2) the ability to write short stories of students using character-based animated film media experienced a significant increase, and (3) animated film media Character-based has proven to be effective in learning to write short stories for students, this is in accordance with the results of the t-test conducted.

Abstract

This study aims to discover students' group work learning performance in offline learning. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive qualitative method in collecting data which aims to explore the students' performance in group work during offline learning. The participants of this study were the students in grade XI MIPA 2 and one English teacher of SMAN 1 Pangkep. The instrument used in this study was an observation, with an observation checklist as the tool. The research found that based on the observation tool, the observation checklist, most of the students fulfilled the criteria, making their group work perform properly. There were six items with which most of the groups met with them. However, several items were not in group six’s performance. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the students had an adequate performance in group work based on the criteria of the observation. The students of SMAN 1 Pangkep are enthusiastic when working together to complete their tasks. They shared their roles and responsibilities with group members and encouraged each other to improve their communication skills and confidence.

Abstract

Young students should start receiving English instruction at a young age. Parental involvement in their children's English education is crucial. By using a variety of learning approaches, parents can help their kids learn English from a young age. This study attempts to examine the methods employed by parents to start and expose their young learners to the language. Research tools in the form of interviews with 7 parents served as the data gathering strategy for this qualitative study. Several parenting strategies for teaching their kids English are categorized in this study. By using research tools in the form of interviews with 7 parents as a method of data collecting, research was carried out qualitatively. Several parenting strategies for teaching their kids English are categorized in this study. The findings indicated that parents exposed their kids to English in a variety of ways, including vocabulary introduction, the use of a vocabulary memorizing system, engaging learning techniques, and the use of learning resourcesKeywords: English fo Young Learners; Parents’Technique.
