Abstract

Metacognitive is the ability to control cognitive aspects, while critical thinking is the ability to think rationally and clearly in understanding the logical connections between various ideas. Both are necessary in 21st -century education. This study aims to analyze students' metacognitive and their critical thinking skills in thermochemistry material and the correlation of metacognitive with critical thinking. The population was the third-grade private high school students consisted of four schools. Each school was randomly selected by one class as a sample, with a total sample of 150 students. Metacognitive skills instrument is an integrated essay test of metacognitive skills and critical thinking. The results showed that most of the students' metacognitive skills in the developing category (51.67%), most of the students' critical thinking skills in the sufficient category (65.33%), the students' metacognitive and critical thinking skill are positively correlated. The contribution of metacognitive abilities to critical thinking is at 72.0%. The results indicate that students' metacognitive and critical thinking skills need to be empowered to improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

Motivation has an important role in improving learning quality. Scrapbook media can be an alternative learning media because it can be equipped with stimulus images that can attract interest and stimulate learning motivation. This research was a research development by adapting the ADDIE model. Scrapbook validity is measured from the results of expert and empirical validation. Expert validation includes media experts and material experts, while empirical validation by teacher and student. Product quality is the result of the implementation and the responses by students and teachers. Scrapbook effectiveness is seen from the increase in students' learning motivation when learning to use scrapbook. The instruments used were: teacher and student interview guidelines, material and media expert validation, field validation for teachers and students, and student motivation. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the quality of the scrapbook media was stated to be very valid with an average rating was 3.725 expert validators and the empirical validator was 3.45 with a valid category. The results of the implementation of the scrapbook media on total student learning motivation also increased by 24.80%, and the highest increase was in the aspect of initiative in learning which amounted to 33.40%.Keywords: Learning motivation, learning media, scrapbook

Abstract

Student learning outcomes are influenced by several factors. One of them is learning motivation. This research is a descriptive and correlation study that aims to describe and analyze students' learning motivation based on gender and academic ability. The sample of this study was grade 10th students of senior high school in Kupang City, namely: SMAN 5, SMAN 4, and SMAN 1. The determination of school samples and class samples is done by random sampling. The research instrument used the MSLQ motivation questionnaire that was developed and validated by Duncan and McKeachie (2005), while the data of learning outcomes obtained from summative test scores . The results obtained that the average motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic) of students: 1) women are higher than male students, and 2) academic ability is higher than students with lower academic ability, and 3) Extrinsic motivation has a very significant correlation with intrinsic motivation and results learning, for gender and academic ability.The results of this study indicate that an appropriate learning strategy is needed in order to minimize gender differences and academic ability to foster student learning motivation which ultimately impacts on learning outcomes. Abstract

A student worksheet is one of the learning resources containing work intended for students to be more active in learning. A student worksheet is designed based - inquiry so that learning is more meaningful and student-centered. Investigation optimally involves all students' ability to search and investigate systematically, critically, logically, analytically, so that they can formulate their findings confidently. This study aims to produce student worksheet based - Inquiry with profiles and qualities that are feasible to use in classroom learning, developed by adapting the ADDIE model. The validity of the worksheet development results is measured from the result of validation by the expert validator, the quality, and practicality of the worksheet seen from the responses given by students and teachers. The data of the development results were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the worksheet based-Inquiry had fulfilled the three requirements for proper worksheet preparation that is didactic, constructive, and technical requirements. Student worksheet based-Inquiry declared very valid with an average value of 3.70 and is feasible to use. A student worksheet is also in a first category based on the responses of students and teachers with scores of 82.92% and 83.50%, respectively, so it is concluded feasible to be used in learning.

Abstract

Chili is one of the plants that are needed by the community so that proper cultivation techniques are needed, in this case related to fertilization by utilizing organic animal waste.This study aims to determine the response of the growth and production of red chili (Capsicum annum L.) to chicken and cow manure dose combination. The method used is an experimental method with a factorial completely randomized design which consists of two factors, namely the first factor is the type of animal manure which consists of two levels, namely cow dung and chicken manure, the second factor is the dose of fertilizer there are three levels, namely 200 grams, 300 grams and 400 grams. The total combination of treatments was 9 treatments and 3 replications so that in total there were 27 units. The parameters observed were chili growth (height and number of branches) and chili production (number of fruits and fruit weight). The data were analyzed of variance with 5% and 1% levels, followed by Duncan's 5% further test. The results of the analysis showed that the combination of treatments had a very significant effect on plant height and fruit number (12.77 and 5.00), significantly affected the number of fruits (3.55), but did not affect the wet weight of fruit (2.46).Further test results showed that the best treatment for the parameters of plant height, number of branches, and number of fruit was a combination of 300 grams of chicken manure and 200 grams of cow manure. Keywords: dose, chicken manure, cow manure, growth, production

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk organik cair limbah rumah tangga terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman tomat serta mengetahui volume efektif dari pupuk organik cair yang memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman tomat. Penelitian adalah penelitian eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan volume pupuk per polybag yaitu 0 (kontrol), 50, 100, dan 150 mL. Tiap perlakuan diulang 5 kali. Variabel yang diukur adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah buah, dan berat basah buah. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis varians dan diuji lanjut Tukey dengan menggunakan program SPSS Ver.18. Hasil analisis varians diperoleh bahwa perlakuan pupuk organik cair limbah rumah tangga berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap variabel tinggi tanaman, jumlah buah, dan berat basah buah, dimana masing-masing variabel menunjukkan nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0.01. Hasil uji lanjut diperoleh bahwa perlakuan yang paling baik adalah perlakuan dengan volume 150 mL/polybag untuk variabel tinggi tanaman, jumlah buah, dan berat basah buah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas ekstrak daun bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides) sebagai pembasmi hama nabati pada ulat buah (Helicoverpa armigera). Pengujian efektivitas ekstrak daun bandotan menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang meliputi lima perlakuan konsentrasi yaitu: 5, 10, 15, 20, dan 25%, masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari tiga ulangan. Tiap perlakuan terdapat 10 ekor ulat buah sehingga total yang digunakan 150 ekor. Data mortalitas dianalisis varians (ANAVA) dan diuji lanjut dengan uji Tuckey menggunakan program SPSS Ver.18. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa konsentrasi ekstrak bandotan yang efektif untuk membunuh hama ulat buah adalah konsentrasi 25% dengan mortalitas hama 100%. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa tanaman bandotan dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif bahan pembasmi hama secara alami.

Abstract

Pengembangan kewirausahaan dapat ditumbuhkan dengan berbagai aktivitas yang dapat memancing kreativitas mahasiswa yang bernilai ilmiah dengan penerapan IPTEKS, agar terasah dalam menciptakan suatu produk baru yang berasal dari kegiatan mereka sendiri, di sisi lain juga dapat memperluas bidang usaha ke arah pemanfaatan produk dalam hal ini adalah pengembangan bisnis tanaman hias dengan memanfaatkan pupuk organik yang mereka ciptakan sendiri. Pengelolaan limbah organik rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik cair merupakan salah satu upaya mengurangi penumpukan limbah yang akan berdampak negatif pada lingkungan dan meningkatkan nilai jual limbah organik, serta memberi dampak positif kelestarian lingkungan ketika pupuk organik digunakan sebagai pengganti pupuk kimia. Pelaksanaan pembuatan pupuk organik cair melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu pengumpulan limbah organik dari lingkungan, proses pengolahan dan fermentasi limbah rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik cair, pengemasan produk, dan pemasaran. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan ini adalah: 1) Pelatihan, dan 2) demonstrasi.  Hasil dari kegiatan pelatihan diperoleh luaran berupa produk pupuk organik cair dalam beberapa kemasan botol yaitu, 250 ml, 500 ml, dan 1000 ml. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pelatihan dan demonstrasi pembuatan pupuk organik cair terbukti efektif untuk mengembangkan dan menumbuhkan jiwa kewirausahaan mahasiswa terlihat dari antusiasme mereka dalam kegiatan pendampingan saat pelatihan dan banyaknya pertanyaan yang diajukan karena rasa keingintahuan yang tinggi.

Abstract

The quality of teachers is a problem faced in the world of education. Quality teachers can be achieved when teacher professionalism is formed. Professional teachers are teachers who have a number of competencies, namely: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional competencies. One way to improve teacher quality is to ensure that teachers reflect and make continuous improvement through classroom action research training. This service aims to deepen the knowledge and appreciation of prospective teachers about how to think and work collaboratively in solving problems in the classroom and to train skills in conducting classroom action research. Activities are carried out using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) and Community Empowerment (CE) approaches using extension methods (lectures and discussions), practice, and mentoring. The results of the service implementation activities showed a very enthusiastic response for prospective teacher alumni where they wanted this kind of activity to be carried out regularly and if possible in a larger scope. From the results of the analysis of the results of the pre-test, it was revealed that the knowledge of the Alumni about CAR was not complete and still mixed with the type of quasi-experimental research. On the other hand, it was also revealed that knowledge about the instruments and observers in CAR was still minimal. After being given a detailed explanation by 5 presenters, they understood it, where almost 100% of the participants had correctly answered questions about CAR.
