Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Succession conflicts within Sufi brotherhoods in Senegal often expose tensions between competing forms of religious legitimacy, yet their implications for philanthropic governance and women’s participation remain underexplored. This study examines the Caliphate succession conflict within the Càntakun community following the death of Sheikh Béthio Thioune, focusing on how competing legitimacy claims reshape religious authority, philanthropic governance, and gender relations. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research draws on twenty semi-structured interviews, five focus group discussions, and eight participant observations conducted across nine localities in Senegal. The findings reveal that the succession dispute is not merely a theological contest but a struggle over control of philanthropic resources, including adiya, donations, land, and diaspora networks. Sokhna Aida Diallo’s claim to caliphal authority challenges patriarchal norms and expands women’s participation in Muslim philanthropy, while Saliou Thioune’s claim reinforces hereditary succession and institutional orthodoxy. The study argues that routinization of charismatic authority is a contested process shaped by gender dynamics, with significant implications for community participation and institutional continuity. These findings contribute to broader discussions on gender, religious authority, and philanthropic governance in Muslim societies.

Abstract

Bank Syariah Indonesia offers Mitraguna Financing, a multipurpose sharia-based financing product designed to meet the consumption needs of employees and retirees through transparent, fair, and interest-free mechanisms. In the increasingly competitive banking industry, an effective marketing strategy is required not only to increase financing distribution but also to strengthen public understanding of sharia financial products. This study aims to analyze the marketing strategy applied to the Mitraguna Financing product at Bank Syariah Indonesia KC Pekanbaru Harapan Raya and to identify its implementation in branch-level operational activities. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through direct observation during an internship program, informal interviews with employees involved in marketing and financing activities, and documentation studies of relevant company documents. The findings show that Mitraguna Financing's marketing strategy is implemented through the 7P marketing mix, comprising product, price, place, promotion, people, process, and physical evidence. Personal selling, transparent information delivery, customer relationship management, and the use of digital services such as BYOND support the effectiveness of the marketing process. However, challenges remain, including limited customer understanding of sharia financing, administrative constraints, and potential data input errors. This study implies that strengthening Sharia financial literacy, optimizing digital promotion, and improving human resource competence are necessary to enhance the effectiveness of Mitraguna Financing marketing.

Abstract

Introduction: In order to improve waqf institutions' sustainability, accountability, and openness, good corporate governance, or GCG, has become essential. Despite the increasing amount of research, the studies that have already been done are still dispersed and mainly concentrate on specific aspects of governance rather than offering an integrated framework that takes stakeholder viewpoints, digital transformation, and Islamic values into account. The objective of this study is to provide a thorough conceptual framework and conduct a methodical evaluation of the literature on GCG in waqf organizations. Methods: The PRISMA 2020 guidelines were followed in this study's Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, pertinent papers published between 2016 and 2026 were extracted from the Scopus database. To find governance themes and synthesize conceptual links, the chosen studies were examined using grounded theory methodologies that included open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Results: Governance Principles, Islamic Governance, Digital Governance, Stakeholder Governance, and Governance Outcomes are the five fundamental components of governance that were recognized by the review. The results show that while emerging themes like digital governance, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and maqasid al-shariah have grown in significance in boosting institutional performance and public trust, transparency and accountability continue to be the predominant governance principles. An Integrated Good Corporate Governance Framework for Sustainable Waqf Institutions, which blends traditional governance concepts with Islamic ethical values, digital innovation, stakeholder involvement, and sustainability, is the outcome of the synthesis. Conclusion and suggestion: The theory and practice of waqf governance are advanced by this study's comprehensive governance structure. Future studies should use quantitative or mixed-method approaches to experimentally validate the suggested framework in various institutional and national contexts.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing use of social media among Generation Z, which makes digital media an important source of information about financial and investment products. This study aims to determine the partial and simultaneous effects of Influencer and Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM) on the investment interest of Generation Z in the Pegadaian Gold Savings product at Regional Office II Pekanbaru. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative design was employed. The population consisted of Generation Z in Pekanbaru City who use social media and are aware of the Pegadaian Gold Savings product. A total of 102 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error and purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires using Google Forms and analyzed with SPSS version 25. The analysis included validity, reliability, classical assumption, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination tests. The results show that Influencer has a positive and significant effect on investment interest (t = 2.400; sig. = 0.018). E-WOM also has a positive and significant effect (t = 5.047; sig. = 0.000). Simultaneously, Influencer and E-WOM significantly affect investment interest (F = 68.669; sig. = 0.000). The R Square value of 0.581 indicates that the two independent variables explain 58.1% of the variation in investment interest, while the remaining 41.9% is explained by other factors outside the research model.
