Abstract

Identity is a social construction. The Moluccan people are evident of this structure, especially regarding the policy of the obligation to wear cele (Moluccan traditional garment). This has become a process of identity construction involving culture and ethnicity for Moluccans. This paper discusses how Moluccan scholars who studied in Java understand their position wearing cele in the local context in Maluku. In addition, this paper also discusses the scholars’ views on how the process of identity negotiation between localism and nationalism is represented through cele and batik. Information for this study was gathered using a qualitative method with a cultural studies approach. The data were collected using several techniques including interviews, observation, and literature studies to answer research questions and problems. This paper shows that in response to the Moluccan government policy which requires the people to wear cele once a week, most scholars prefer to wear batik instead. One justification is related to cultural and religious aspects, noting cele is more familiar and originates from within the Christian community, while the Islamic community does not recognize cele in their culture. They consider that such policy leads to the construction of cultural identity based on false consciousness.

Abstract

This study aims to deconstruct patriarchal culture by using the film Perempuan Berkalung Sorban, through the binary opposition of patriarchal culture built, by reversing the binary opposition. Film content in the world of pesantrem is very thick with patriarchal cunlture that fences it, and the deconstruction of this culture is done both by the main characters namely Anisa, Khudori (Anisa husband), Anisa’s mother, and some female students who in many ways oppose culture that places women as inferior, weak, and dependent to men. Anisa’s deperate efforts despite having to return to “prison” became never ending struggle because there will still many who opposed what she did. Abstract

Education is something that is planned and planned from an educational person to his students, so that the goals of education can be achieved. Likewise, the education carried out at UKTS as a private campus in Surakarta includes lectures in the SPARK program which carries the concept of Smart, Proactive, Innovative, Collaborative, Christian Values which is expected to bring progress in the field of education. One way to realize student discipline and motivation to learn is to hold morning and afternoon assembly activities with a semi-military "like" model with the hope that students will increase their discipline and motivation to study. The aim of this research is to see whether the discipline and motivation to learn in students can be formed through semi-military education as seen from the literature study of John Dewey's thoughts. The results of the research revealed that students' learning motivation and discipline tend to be low, because students come to study only because they get a scholarship and students also study with compulsion because of the disciplinary process implemented by the campus, which is a mismatch with John Dewey's thinking which emphasizes that education must prepare students to live in society. ABSTRAKPendidikan adalah sesuatu yang terencana dan direncanakan dari seorang pendidikan kepada siswanya, sehingga tujuan dari pendidikan dapat tercapai. Demikian pula pendidikan yang dilakukan di UKTS sebagai kampus swasta di Surakarta mengadalam perkuliahan dalam program SPARK yang mengusung konsep Smart, Proacktive, Innovative, Collaborative, Christian Values diharapkan akan membawa kemajuan di bidang pendidikan. Salah satu cara untuk mewujudkan kedispilinan dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa maka diadakan kegiatan apel pagi dan sore dengan model “mirip” semi militer dengan harapan bahwa mahasiswa meningkat kedisiplinan dan motivasi belajarnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah untuk membentuk kediplinan dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa melalui pendidikan semi militer dilihat dari studi literatur pemikiran John Dewey. Hasil penelitian terungkap bahwa motivasi belajar dan kedisiplinan mahasiswa cenderung rendah, karena mahasiswa datang untuk belajar hanya karena mereka mendapatkan beasiswa dan mahasiswa belajar juga dengan keterpaksaan karena proses pendisiplinan yang diterapkan oleh pihak kampus, dimana adanya ketidaksesuaian dengan pemikiran John Dewey yang menekankan bahwa pendidikan harus mempersiapkan siswa untuk hidup di masyarakat.

Abstract

Era industri 4.0 merupakan fase revolusi teknologi, hal ini memberikan perubahan dalam hal beraktivitas. Perubahan yang terjadi salah satunya memudahkan manusia dalam aktivitas yang dilakukan. Selain memberikan kemudahan dalam beraktivitas, perlu disadari adanya dampak buruk dalam era digitalisasi ini. Dampak buruk tersebut paling rentang pada satuan sosial masyarakat, yaitu komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak menjadi semakin berkurang. Setiap anggota keluarga akan sibuk dengan gawai masing-masing, sekalipun berada dalam satu rumah. Fungsionalitas gawai yang lengkap maka anak dan remaja sering mengganggap bahwa gawailah hidup mereka, sehingga akan memberikan dampak pada pendidikan, kesehatan, sosial dan juga ekonomi. Perilaku sosial masyarakat ketika dibawa ke dalam ranah pelayanan dan kehidupan berjemaat, ditemukan perilaku kontradiktif antara apa yang diajarkan dalam lingkungan berjemaat dan kenyataan sosial yang terjadi. Masalah lain yang perlu diperhatikan dengan serius adalah adanya anggota jemaat yang masih percaya akan okultisme. Masalah dinamika sosial lainnya yaitu ditemukan ketidaksopanan berbahasa antara orang tua dan anak. Ketidaksopanan berbahasa dan interaksi sosial seperti ini tidak hanya dilakukan dalam dunia nyata, tetapi juga dalam dunia media sosial. Oleh sebab itu, perlu adanya layanan edukatif untuk memberikan penyadaran bahasa dan bagaimana berinteraksi sosial yang seharusnya bagi umat dan pelayan.
