Abstract

Judging from its origin, there is an opinion that Sufism originates from Islam. Some say that Sufism is influenced by the practices of other religions, such as the practices of Christian priesthood and of other religions. This article aims to examine the comparison between the concepts of zuhud (asceticism / detachment) and wahdat al-wujud (the unity of existence) in Islam and the concepts of asceticism and hypostatic union in Christianity. In Christianity there is a clerical structure, but Islam does not recognize or implement it. Islamic Sufis did not transform Sufism from Christianity or other religions because Sufism is related to human instincts. Additionally, the human soul is the same despite different societies and nations. The similarities of the practice of asceticism cannot be sufficiently used as the reason that it stems from Christian asceticism. There are in fact similarities between the concept of wahdat al-wujud and hypostatic union in Christianity. The differences between the two lies in the esoteric and exoteric dimensions. However, according to al-Junaid and al-Ghazali, mahabbat and ma'rifat are the limitations of the maqam of Sufism, a level of maqam where man is still in a state of understanding of his own existence. So, between man and God, there is still distance. In this modern era, there is a need for a re-interpretation of Sufism in which Sufism is not only oriented to be purely transient to be in union with God, but it is a form of fulfilling our obligations as God's caliphs who should improve things for fellow humans and other living beings. In other words, Sufism not only contains a theophanic dimension of transience, but also a profane dimension in which there are of fellow human interests worldwide.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tentang pola dakwah dan komunikasi yang digunakan oleh Tarekat Haq Naqsyabandiyah (THN) dalam rangka membendung arus radikalisme di sosial media, yang belakangan ini banyak diperbincangkan di masyarakat, terutama masyarakat terdidik. Masalah dalam penelitian ini difokuskan pada apa yang dilakukan oleh Tarekat Haq Naqsyabandiyah dalam menyikapi maraknya content-content radikal di sosial media. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa langkah yang ditempuh oleh Tarekat Haq Naqsyabandiyah untuk mengatasi persoalan ini, antara lain: 1) Menguatkan Halaqah Zikir; 2) Menguatkan pemahaman jama’ah terhadap ilmu ketarekatan melalui pembinaan keilmuan dan praktik ketarekatan; 3) Meperkuat dakwah face to face kepada jama’ah, pengurus Yayasan dan masyarakat umum.

Abstract

Indonesian society, especially in Java, which is predominantly Muslim, has not yet been able to leave local traditions and culture. The acculturation of Islam and local culture produces a variety of religiosity that is unique and different from Muslim religiosity in other places. This tradition and culture are highly respected by the Javanese people, one of which is the Larung Laut tradition which is held by the fishing community as a form of gratitude and a request for safety to the rulers of the sea. The purpose of this article was to examine the tradition of Larung Laut from Sufi and Mutakallimin perspectives, using a phenomenological approach, descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study were: The Sufi perspective, a form of expressing gratitude for the abundance of blessings from God and being patient for sacrificial offerings displayed through the Larung Laut ceremony is one of the signs of Zuhud's nature. In addition, it also implied the values of Khauf (fear of Allah by having feelings of worry about the punishment of Allah that will be bestowed upon us), as well as the values of Raja' (expecting pleasure, mercy and help from Allah). Meanwhile, the perspective of Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah found that: Elements in the Javanese Larung Laut tradition that have polytheistic values must be removed; Larung Laut which has been internalized with Islamic values is an Islamic act, and is allowed, there is no element of shirk, superstition, and superstition; as well as the symbols contained in the Larung Laut tradition which are required for meaning and philosophy are part of the richness of Javanese culture that needs to be preserved, because it is the way of the previous elders in educating the next generations to be better and civilized

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat berbasis Karya Ilmiah (PKM-KI) yang diselenggarakan oleh Pascasarjana IAIN Pontianak dalam bentuk Workshop Literasi Berbasis Moderasi Beragama. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga dilatarbelakangi pentingnya menumbuhkan kepekaan dan kesadaran masyarakat terutama pada mahasiswa di lingkungan STIT Darul Ulum Kubu Raya terhadap munculnya dinamika faktual di tengah masyarakat multikultural terkait moderasi beragama. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam kegiatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh peneliti berasal dari instrumen penelitian berupa: wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi. Data yang telah dikumpulkan tersebut kemudian direduksi, untuk selanjutnya dilakukan proses penyajian (display data) serta dilakukan verifikasi berupa simpulan hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat berbasis Karya Ilmiah (PKM-KI) dalam bentuk Workshop Literasi Berbasis Moderasi Beragama dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan para peserta pelatihan mengenai isu-isu terkait moderasi beragama serta turut berkontribusi dalam menambah pengetahuan mereka terhadap program literasi serta penulisan karya tulis ilmiah.

Abstract

Amid a dynamic social change in modern times, religious leaders still carry out several critical societal roles and functions. The emergence of this situation is mainly due to the absence of new social institutions that can completely replace them. This study, therefore, aims to explain Labai's role as a religious and community figure in the Malay-Sambas community in West Kalimantan Province. This study uses Weber's concept of charisma to analyze the role and function of Labai in the Malay-Sambas society. A qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was applied to analyze the data collected through in-depth interviews with some Labai. The results of this study indicate that the charisma authority of Labai was built with the legitimacy of the Malay-Sambas community who positioned Labai as a public figure who not only played a role as a religious figure in charge of providing religious understanding or religious doctrine to the community but also as a community figure who is always stand-by when its members needed help. In this case, Labai plays a vital role in maintaining local wisdom that has been preserved for generations in the Malay-Sambas community in West Kalimantan.
