Abstract

Abstract: Most of the children who are in the Aisyiah Orphanage in Bukittinggi City do not yet have reliable skills, so if they leave the institution it is feared that they cannot be independent. For that they are fostered by providing various types of skills as a provision of life, so that after leaving the institution they can work and even create new jobs. Unfortunately the skills provided at this orphanage are very limited and less varied. The factors causing the variety of types of skills provided or implemented in this orphanage are; 1) lack of expertise from various types of skills and 2) lack of funds for its implementation, although there is assistance from the government and the community but it is not sufficient. The types of skills that are often provided especially for men are sewing and carpentry sewing. While the types of skills related to art have never been given. Whereas most of the children's homes (62.1%) have artistic talent. For this reason, the head of the orphanage expects training in screen printing skills for their foster children. The solution offered to overcome this problem is to conduct practical skills training, namely screen printing. The provisional result of this activity was that in general (84.65%) the children of the Aisyiah orphanage, Bukittinggi City son, had the ability to print well with green printing techniques.

Abstract

Mata pelajaran Prakarya di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) terdiri dari materi pembelajaran kerajinan, pengolahan, rakayasa dan budi daya. Semua SMP di Kabupaten Agam khususnya SMP Agam Timur menetapkan materi kerajinan mendapat porsi yang lebih banyak untuk diberikan dibandingkan dengan materi-materi lainnya, karena sesuai dengan kondisi daerah yang dekat dengan sentra-sentra kerajinan. Masalahnya adalah guru-guru yang mengajar prakarya tersebut umumnya (83,7%) tidak berlatar belakang pendidikan seni rupa dan kerajinan. Bagi guru yang berlatar belakang pendidikan seni rupa/kerajinan akan mudah mengajarkan kerajinan, tetapi bagi guru yang tidak berlatar belakang pendidikan seni rupa dan kerajinan mengalami masalah dalam pelaksanaan materi kerajinan, karena mereka tidak menguasai materi kerajinan. Akhirnya pelaksanaan pembelajaran prakarya khususnya materi kerajinan tidak berjalan dengan baik. Berdasarkan permasalahan di atas disepakati dengan Ketua MGMP Prakarya dan Kepala SMPN mitra, bahwa bahwa permasalahan prioritas yang akan diselesaikan adalah menyangkut penguasaan materi pembelajaran kerajinan, Permasalahan prioritas tersebut adalah rendahnya kemampuan guru prakarya SMP Agam Timur dalam menguasai materi kerajinan Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk memecahkan permasalahan prioritas di atas adalah memberdayakan guru-guru prakarya dengan program penerapan ipteks yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan; 1) rancang bangun, 2) penyuluhan dengan menyajikan materi pelatihan, 3) pelatihan berkarya kerajinan, 4) pendampingan/ pembimbingan oleh instruktur. Target luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah 1) publikasi pada jurnal ilmiah nasional ber ISSN, 2) Meningkatnya kemampuan guru-guru seni budaya dalam menguasai materi kerajinan. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa PKM ini adalah pada umumnya (88,89%) guru-guru sudah menguasai materi kerajinan khususnya materi kerajinan serat yakni makrame.

Abstract

The Illustration Book of Traditional Culinary Introduction to Nasi Kapau is a book designed to introduce one of Minangkabau culinary dish, Nasi Kapau. This book aims to provide information about Nasi Kapau including its regional origin, the characteristics of the seller, the way the side dishes are arranged, the various side dishes, the historical area where they first appeared, and the differences from Nasi Padang. Currently there are still many people who cannot identify Nasi Kapau even though they are spread across various provinces in Indonesia. With the design of this book, it is hoped that Nasi Kapau will become more well-known and there will be no misunderstandings. The illustration that will be used in this design uses a semi-realist illustration style and takes the original color of the original object. The design method used is the glass box method with data collection methods through observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation. The data was then analyzed using the 5W=1H method. The design of this Kapau Nasi Kapau Traditional Culinary Illustration Book Design will use the title "Wow Nasi Kapau" with supporting media including e-books, x-banners, posters, Instagram, totebags, note books, and hand fans.

Abstract

The purpose of creating this work is as a social criticism and conveying a message regarding the abandonment of the railroad tracks in Batipuh. It is feared that the abandonment of the railway tracks will have a negative impact on the assets of the railways, the people who live on the edge of the railway tracks which will change the use of the station buildings and railway tracks. In order to prevent this from happening, the author was inspired to visualize the negative impact of abandoned railway tracks which were converted into use by the community which was outlined in graphic art works. The creation of the work used the art consortium method with five stages, namely, the preparation stage (observing and exploring), the elaboration stage ( searching for and collecting references), the synthesis stage (application of the idea/main idea), concept realization (creating the work), and the completion stage (in the form of a report and exhibition of the final work). So that the author created ten works with the theme of the impact of abandoned railroad tracks. The resulting works were 10 works with a size of 60 x 40 cm with titles including: Food, Garage, Landfill, Steel Park, Short Road, Buried Asphalt, Distribution, Cloud Top Grass, Toothed Rail, Kadai Katupek.

Abstract

The illustrated story book The Legend of Harau Valley is a book designed by bringing folklore from Harau. This comic book was created to preserve local folklore and become a medium for introducing folklore to the younger generation. Currently, the younger generation's interest in culture is decreasing, so many people don't know the story about this legend. With this design, it is hoped that the Legend of Harau Valley will be increasingly recognized by the wider community so that it becomes a regional identity and its sustainability is maintained. The illustrations in this design use a semi-realist and full color illustration style to make it more easily accepted and liked by the younger generation. The method used in designing this picture book is the glass box method based on data obtained through observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation of the folklore The Legend of Harau Valley. In the problem solving process, 5W+1H analysis is used. This design resulted in a main media in the form of a picture story book entitled "The Legend of the Creation of the Harau Valley". Supporting media options used are bookmarks, e-books, x-banners, hand fans, mini notebooks, posters and tote bags.

Abstract

Surah Al-Waqi’ah is one of the surahs in the Koran. This surah is in the 27th Juz. And is the 56th surah in the Al-Quran. Surah Al-Waqi’ah consists of 96 verses. Surah Al-Waqi’ah has still not been detected being introduced to children. In fact, studying surah Al-Waqi’ah has many functions. One of them is started in the hadith of Al-Baihaqi. This surah contains many lessons and wisdom that readers can take. Therefore, surah Al-Waqi’ah is deemed suitable to be introduced to children with an illustrated book. With the help of illustrations, children can better understand the contents of the reading in surah Al-Waqi’ah. This design uses the Glass Box method with several stages, like stage of preparation, incubation, illumination and verification.

Abstract

One of the provinces in Indonesia that has a variety of traditional cuisine is West Sumatra. Introducing traditional cuisine to the next generation is one way to maintain culture so that it is not forgotten. This traditional introduction still tends to be passed down through oral traditions from previous generations to the cuisine of their predecessors, usually through communication and people's living habits so that it is less than optimal in the long term. The best way to introduce traditional cuisine to children in the long term is to use reading media. Therefore, a cultural introduction was designed for children aged between 9-12 years in illustration-based book media. The design uses the ADDIE approach (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluate). The aim of this book is to broaden children's understanding of traditional West Sumatran cuisine.

Abstract

The rise of Anxiety among adolescents to adults greatly affects their daily activities. Anxiety is a natural emotional response to pressure or situations that are perceived as threatening. This work aims to visualize the condition of anxiety as a form of mental illness that is often ignored, especially among teenagers and adults. Using stencil print graphic art technique, this work tries to express the symptoms of anxiety through visual symbols, such as facial expressions and objects that support the impression. The process of creating this work involves in-depth observation and literature review to enrich the understanding of the concept of anxiety. The author hopes that through this work, people can better understand the complexity and impact of anxiety, and the importance of maintaining mental health. This work is also expected to be a learning tool for the public in understanding mental issues.

Abstract

This project is proposed as a solution to the lack of illustrated books and education about loneliness. The character of the 52 Hertz whale is featured in this book and represents a depiction of the reality of human life experiencing loneliness. The main goal of this illustrated picture book design is to educate, help people express themselves, prove that those who experiencing loneliness are not alone in facing their problems, and make this book a safe space for them to learn how to manage emotional responses and reduce the risk of depression and loneliness-induced mortality. The method used in this project is the 4D development method, divided into 4 stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature, and the internet. The data analysis technique used is the 5W + 1H method. In addition to the illustrated picture book, the supporting media produced from this design include postcards, bookmarks, A2 posters, x-banner, hangtag, tote bags, A6 notebook, and cloth banners.
