Abstract

At the end of 2021, the East Java labor alliance flocked to carry out demonstrations at several important points, such as the Grahadi Building in Surabaya and district or city offices from each region. This demonstration was attended by workers from various regencies or cities in East Java, such as Gresik, Surabaya, Malang, Kediri, and so on. This action was carried out with the aim of demanding an increase in labor wages by 2022. Unlike the previous year, the demonstration was carried out in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Departing from this reality, the author was prompted to analyze the existence of awareness and struggle of East Java workers in demanding wages during the Covid-19 pandemic which was analyzed using Karl Marx's theory of Awareness and Class Struggle. This research utilizes a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The source of this research comes from secondary data, namely online news, books, and journals. The results of this study show that even in the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia and in the pouring rain, all East Java labor alliances still take action to take to the streets in rejecting cheap wage increases in 2022, as predicted by Karl Marx.

Abstract

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused various problems because the closure of all public facilities has hampered community activities. However, the pandemic did not stop the enthusiasm of young people particularly university students. Demonstration in the midst of the  pandemic still took place.  Students have an important role in voicing the aspirations of the oppressed people. The injustice towards the lower classes is marked with Ciptaker (Job Creation) Law, procedures of disbursement of JHT (Old Age Security), and the effort to prolong presidential term. The writers described the data descriptively with qualitative method. The goal is to reveal the reasons, motives, and factors surrounding the actions taken by students. The writers conducted literature study and corpus study to obtain the data. Then, the writers applied the theory of social movement and social protest. As a result, it was found that the desire for change and expressing the identity of the nation's youth, and the common goal of students in demonstrating in the midst of a pandemic  were the factors of the demonstration.

Abstract

Penguatan literasi Pancasila terutama pada nilai-nilai toleransi dan kepedulian sosial melalui penelitian dan keterlibatan dunia pendidikan tinggi merupakan hal yang penting dalam penguatan kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara. Indonesia sebagai bangsa yang multietnik memiliki tantangan untuk berhadapan dengan konflik etno-religius di samping persoalan struktural lainnya. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dari Universitas Negeri Surabaya dalam lingkup Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi ini bertujuan untuk penguatan literasi Pancasila bagi masyarakat di Desa Bareng, Kecamatan Sugihwaras, Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode pendidikan masyarakat berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan dan penelitian untuk memperkuat pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat tentang ke-Pancasila-an, terutama pada aspek gotong royong dan kepedulian sosial. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September hingga Desember 2022. Pendekatan sosial yang dilakukan dengan melibatkan pakar sejarah di bidang politik dan Pancasila menghasilkan dampak yang positif kepada masyarakat desa dalam memahami Pancasila secara konsep dan konteks. Kegiatan ini penting sebagai sarana pendidikan kebangsaan dan karakter di tengah tantangan menjadi bangsa yang heterogen dan pluralis di masa kini dan masa mendatang.

Abstract

Cases of sexual violence are still relatively high in Indonesia, even based on the Annual Records (Catahu) of the National Commission on Violence Against Women (KOMNAS Perempuan) for 2023, that there has been an increase in cases of sexual violence in Indonesia. However, since 2021, the Government has made a number of regulations to address this problem, one of which is Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence (TPKS Law). In the TPKS Law, it is explained that the active role of society is needed in overcoming the problem of sexual violence in Indonesia. By using a qualitative method, this study took the research object, namely the civil society organization Suar Asa Khatulistiwa (SAKA) to see the role of civil society in preventing sexual violence, especially in Pontianak City. The results of this study show that SAKA has played an active role in preventing sexual violence in Pontianak City. However, the Pontianak City Government still needs seriousness to be able to reduce the number of sexual violence in Pontianak City.
