Abstract

This study examines the issue of low reading interest among students, which can negatively affect their literacy skills and behavior. If left unaddressed, this issue could lead to a generation with poor literacy abilities and a lack of moderate attitudes. The purpose of this research is to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes, as well as the impact of the Literacy-Based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in the subject of Islamic Education (PAI) and Character Education on shaping students' moderate attitudes. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate several key points: (1) The planning process of PjBL in Islamic Education begins with setting objectives aligned with local contexts and religious values, analyzing student characteristics, adapting teaching strategies, preparing worksheets, and designing evaluation tools. (2) The implementation of PjBL in three junior high schools in Bandung involves teachers assigning project tasks, planning project steps, scheduling, and providing continuous monitoring and guidance throughout the project. (3) The evaluation of PjBL includes assessing students' ability to manage projects, the relevance of the projects to the local context, and the authenticity of the final products, which reflect the success of the PjBL implementation. (4) The literacy-based PjBL model demonstrates a significant impact on fostering students' moderate attitudes, particularly in terms of tolerance, national commitment, anti-violence, and accommodation of local culture, with varied results across the three schools. This study concludes that the Literacy-Based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Islamic Education (PAI) and Character Education effectively supports the development of moderate attitudes in religious practices among students at SMPN 18 Bandung

Abstract

This article discusses hadiths related to the nature of learning materials, characteristics, and types in the context of Islamic education. In Islamic education, the learning materials taught by the Prophet Muhammad SAW include spiritual, intellectual, and social dimensions, which aim to form a complete individual (al-insan al-kamil). Through an analysis of various hadiths, this paper identifies the characteristics of learning materials that are comprehensive, morally oriented, and tailored to the needs of students. In addition, this paper also categorizes various types of learning materials, including aqidah, morals, worship, the Qur'an, and fiqh, which have an important role in forming the character and morals of students. Thus, this study confirms that understanding and implementing hadith-based educational materials can be a guideline in developing an Islamic education curriculum that is relevant and adaptive to the challenges of the times. The results of the study are expected to contribute to the development of better and more meaningful Islamic education for society.

Abstract

IIslamic Religious Education (PAI) in elementary schools frequently relies on standardized and text-based teaching materials that inadequately reflect students’ socio-cultural contexts, thereby limiting the internalization of moral values. This study aims to develop and evaluate a PAI teaching module on moral education integrated with Sundanese local wisdom—Silih Asah, Silih Asih, and Silih Asuh—and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design, this study applied the ADDIE model comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The module was tested with Grade V students at an Islamic elementary school in West Java. Data were collected through expert validation instruments, student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The results indicate that the module achieved a high level of validity (90%), was categorized as very practical based on student responses (89.3%), and demonstrated high effectiveness in improving learning outcomes, with an average N-Gain score of 0.71 and a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that integrating local cultural wisdom into PAI instructional materials effectively enhances students’ moral understanding and character formation. The developed module is therefore feasible as a contextual learning resource aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile.
