Abstract

Background. Foot ulcer is one of the most common complications in diabetes mellitus patients. This condition prolongs hospital length of stay (LOS) and increases hospitalization cost. This study aims to assess factors that affect the LOS in patients with the mentioned condition. Methods. This is a retrospective cohort study of diabetes mellitus patients with foot ulcer who were hospitalized in Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital from January 2015 to April 2016. There were 120 patients recruited and then divided into two groups according to their hospitalization duration, which was short and long. Univariate analysis was conducted in predicted factors including gender, ankle-brachial index, ulcer size, ulcer depth, leukocyte count, treatment, cardiovascular comorbidity, blood pressure, smoking history, septicemia, ketoacidosis, hypoalbuminemia, and upper respiratory tract infection. Chi-Square tests were performed to analyze the association of those factors with LOS. The odds ratio of each variable was evaluated using logistic regression analysis. Result. In this study, the mean of LOS was 26 days (2 – 87 days). Factors that significantly correlated with LOS were ankle-brachial index (p 0.041, OR 2.275, CI 95 % 1.025 – 5.041), ulcer size (p 0.044, OR 3.038, CI 95 % 1.032 – 9.942), smoking history (p 0.022, OR 2.434, CI 95 % 1.125 – 5.265), sepsis (p < 0.001, OR 4.240, CI 95 % 1.908 – 9.423), and ketoacidosis (p < 0.001, OR 8.611, CI 95 % 3.396 – 21.835) In multivariate analysis, the most significant factor was ketoacidosis (p < 0.001, OR 8.360, CI 95 % 3.209 – 21.780). Conclusion. Ketoacidosis is the most significant factor that prolonged hospital stays in a patient with diabetic foot ulcer. Keywords: Diabetic foot ulcer, Length of stay

Abstract

The rapid development of the times today is a challenge in building the character of students. The challenges faced by all nations related to the nature of citizenship have become national issues that require a comprehensive study to take strategic steps to overcome the problem. The application of control cards is one of the flagship programs owned by SMA Negeri Bernas Binsus Provinsi Riau, in building the character of its students. This study aims to explore and analyze the role of control cards in shaping the civic disposition of students at SMA Negeri Bernas Binsus Provinsi Riau. This research uses qualitative design with case study method. Data research techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study show that, with the control card plays a role in forming civic disposition including (1) discipline, obeying applicable rules, and orderly, (2) responsibility is shown from the facts found by researchers that they must be ready and accept sanctions or punishments for actions they violate, (3) honesty, very instrumental in educating and accustoming students to always tell the truth,  They are required to always be mandated to school rules.

Abstract

The ability to read the Koran well, correctly (tajwid) and beautifully (qiro'ah) is very important for every Muslim. This research was carried out by involving KKN students who collaborated with this institution to organize interactive and interesting learning programs. The method used is Participation Action Research (PAR). The research results show that this activity not only improves Al-Qur'an reading skills, but also builds children's interest and motivation to learn. In addition, this program has succeeded in involving parents and the community in supporting children's religious education, creating a positive learning environment. Thus, the role of KKN students has proven to be significant in the development of religious education in the community and a significant increase in certain aspects, such as recitation, recitation and interest in reading the Al-Qur'an. This research recommends increasing collaboration between educational institutions and the community for the sustainability of Al-Qur'an-based education programs in the future.

Abstract

Correlation of geochemical of soil and chemical properties of oil palm fiber from the trunk, empty fruit bunches and fronds has been investigated. Frond samples come from dryland and wetland to have more significant results. The chemical properties of topsoil and lignocellulosic fiber were investigated by FT-IR. The geology of soil was investigated by 1D Geoelectric. Measuring of the content of cellulose and lignin according to SNI 14-0444-1989 and SNI 0492-1989-A. Base on research, the geochemical properties of soil are correlated with the chemical properties of the lignocellulosic fiber of the oil palm trees. The cellulose content of wetlands fiber has the lowest than other fibers. This is caused by soil nutrients which are composed of carbonyl and phenolic compounds. Alkalization treatment on the fiber has increased the cellulose content of each fiber. The alkalization treatment increases the adhesive properties. Based on the geology and chemical properties of soil, the land of oil palm trees is composed of clay minerals composed of Si-O-Si, carbonyl, phenol bonds and others.
