Abstract

Cholesterol, is one of the energy sources that provides the highest calories. In addition, cholesterol excess can cause disease.One of a plant that can reduce cholesterol levels is the combination of bitter melon and red ginger which contains flavonoids to lower cholesterol levels. This study aimed was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of red ginger rhizome extract with bitter melon in lowering cholesterol levels, and to determine the most effective dose of combination of red ginger rhizome extract with bitter melon in lowering cholesterol levels. Extraction was carried out by percolation using 96% ethanol solvent, then made into capsules, cholesterol testing was carried out using an experimental method using 35 male white rats induced with duck egg yolk and divided into 7 groups.Each group of 5 animals were given  1% CMC Na, simvastatin, ethanol extract of bitter melon fruit 100mg/Kgbb, ethanol extract of red ginger rhizome 100mg/Kgbb, ethanol extract of fruit bitter melon and red ginger each 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg.The results of cholesterol testing in each the treatment group, the best reduction in cholesterol levels was combination doses of 150 mg/kgBW of bitter melon and 150 mg/kgBW of red ginger. Based the results of this study. The best reduction in cholesterol levels was the combination group with a dose of 150 mg/kgBW of bitter melon and 150 mg/kgBW of red ginger which was comparable to the simvastatin in reducing cholesterol levels.Kolesterolmerupakan salah satu sumber energi yang memberikan kalori paling tinggi. Jika dalam jumlah berlebih dapat menyebabkan penyakit. Tanaman yang dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol adalah buah pare dan jahe merah yang memiliki kandungan flavonoid untuk menurunkan kadar kolesterol.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas serta dosis yang paling efektif kombinasi ekstrak rimpang jahe merah dengan buah pare dalam menurunkan  kadar kolesterol. Ekstraksi dilakukan secara perkolasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%, lalu dibuat dalam sediaan kapsul, uji kolesterol dilakukan menggunakan metode eksperimental menggunakan 35 ekor tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi dengan kuning telur bebek dan dibagi menjadi 7 kelompok. Tiap kelompok sebanyak 5 ekor diberikan CMC Na 1%, simvastatin, ekstrak etanol buah pare 100mg/Kgbb, ekstrak etanol rimpang jahe merah 100mg/Kgbb, ekstrak etanol buah pare dan jahe merah masing-masing 50mg/Kgbb, 100 mg/Kgbb, 150 mg/Kgbb. Dari hasil penelitian ini hasil evaluasi sediaan kapsul memenuhi syarat. Hasil pengujian kolesterol dari kelompok perlakuan, penurunan kadar kolesterol yang paling baik dosis 150 mg/kgBB buah pare dan 150 mg/kgBB jahe merah. Penurunan kadar kolestrol yang paling baik adalah kelompok kombinasi masing-masing dosis 150 mg/kgbb yang sebanding dengan simvastatin.

Abstract

The main obstacle to consuming traditional medicine is the compounding process which is considered troublesome so that it often causes discomfort to consume it. For the purpose of efficiency, easy and practical in use, need to be made in dosage forms such as capsules. Capsules are solid preparations consisting of a drug in a soluble hard or soft shell. Titanus leaf (Leea aequata L.) is a medicinal plant that is used by the people of the Tanah Karo area, North Sumatra Province as an antitetanus drug. Tetanus is an acute and often fatal disease caused by an exotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium tetani. Tetanus often begins with a mild spasm of the jaw muscles which is often referred to as trismus. Sometimes the spasm affects the muscles that help with breathing, which can cause breathing problems. The aim of this study was to formulate EEDT capsules and to test its anticonvulsant activity on the smooth muscle of the guinea pig trachea in vitro. The relaxation effect was tested after the guinea pig's trachea was contracted with acetylcholine (EC80 = 1,0454 x 10-3 M), then the cumulative concentration of EEDT capsules was 0.5-4 mg/mL and atropine sulfate concentration of 6.95 x 10-6 - 2.08 x 10-2 mg/mL. The results of the relaxation effect test showed that EEDT granules could reduce acetylcholine-induced guinea pig trachea smooth muscle contraction. EEDT granules at a concentration of 3.5 mg/mL (102,8817 ± 0,1316) had the same ability as atropine sulfate 6.95 x 10-3 mg/mL (102,7748 ± 0,3231) in reducing guinea pig trachea smooth muscle contraction induced by acetylcholine 1,0454 x 10-3 M (p>0.005). EEDT capsules with a concentration of 3.5 mg and 4 mg had the same effectiveness, that is 102,8817 ± 0,1316. From this study, it can be concluded that the EEDT capsule preparation has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscle of the isolated guinea pig trachea with an ability that is not much different from atropine sulfate.

Abstract

Background: Inflammation is a protective response of the body from the injury of the cell. Edema is one of the inflammation symptoms. Drumstick (Moringa oleifera L.) contains flavonoid a major of a bioactive constituent. Flavonoids inhibit COX-2 in inflammatory in mice. Objective: This study aims to investigate and to determine the anti-inflammatory activity and its effective dose extract. Method: Experimental. The extract was prepared by maceration method using ethanol 80%. An anti-inflammatory activity test was performed in five different groups. Each group consisted of 5 rats. The 1st group (negative control) was given 0,5% CMC-Na suspension, the 2nd group (positive control) was given diclofenac sodium 2,25 mg/kg BW, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th groups were successively given the drumstick leaf extract as much as 100, 150, and 200 mg/kg BW. Each rat was then induced by 1% carrageenan and tested using the subplantar method. The inflamed paw volume was measured using plestymometer. The measurements were done for 3 hours long with intervals of 30 minutes. The data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Results: The results showed that the negative control had a significant difference with the other treatment groups which did not show any anti-inflammatory effect. Conclusion: Extract of a drumstick at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW has a better anti-inflammatory effect than ethanolic of a drumstick at dose of 100, 150 mg/kg BW, but still under sodium diclofenac.

Abstract

Depression is a mood disorder that is characterized by profound and sustained sadness and sadness until the loss of life passion. Lemongrass which contains eugenol is thought to have the potential as an antidepressant that works by inhibiting the Mono Amine Oxidase enzyme. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of antidepressant citronella extract (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle) on male white mice. This study used 5 treatment groups namely CMC Na 0.5%, amitriptilyn, lemongrass extract dose 1.5 mg/kgBB, 15 mg/kgBB and 150 mg/kgBB. Antidepressant testing was determined based on immobility time using the forsed swim test method. Data analysis using statistics was tested for normality and continued with the One Way Anova method with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the most effective treatment group as an antidepressant was amitriptilyn followed by lemongrass extract dose 150 mg/kgBB. The conclusion of this study is that lemongrass extract dose 150 mg/kgBB has the effectiveness as an antidepressant but is no more effective than the comparison of amitrip

Abstract

African Leaf and palm leaf crops have a secondary metabolite content such as alkaloids and flavonoids that are efficacious as diuretics. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of diuretics from the combination African leaf ethanol extract and palm leaf ethanol extract. Methods used Eksperiemental. The test of diuretic activity is conducted divided into 6 treatment groups. Each group consists of 3 tails of white rats. Group 1 (positive control) administered Furosemide 3.6 mg/kgBB, Group 2 (negative control) was given suspension Na-CMC 0.5%, group 3 without treatment as well as groups of 4.5, and 6 in a row administered a combination of African leaf extract doses and extracts Oil palm leaf ethanol in a row of "50 mg/kgBB + 67, 5mg/kgBB"; "100mg/kgBB + 135 mg/kgBB"; and "200 mg/kgBB + 270 mg/kgBB". Each mouse is then given a 20ml NaCl/kgBB as an oral loading dose. Measured urine volume is recorded every hour for 6 hours after it continues to measure urine volume. The results showed that the combination of African leaf ethanol extract dosage and palm leaf ethanol extract had a diuretic effect if it was compared with negative control. The conclusion of the study was the results of the study showed that the combination of African leaf extract dosage and palm leaf extract is the most effective dose of Group 6 (African leaf extract 200 mg/kgBB + palm leaves 270 mg/kgBB ). Because it produces the highest urine volume of 23.01 ml.

Abstract

Background: Leaf suji (Dracaena angustifolia) is a native plant of Indonesia that is used as a natural food coloring. However, ethnobotany and pharmacologicalreviews reveaed that this plant had potential as amedicinal ingredient one of them is for anti-inflamatory because it contains saponins that can reduce swelling. Methods: The objective of thE study to determine the gel from suji leaf extract works effectively as an anti-inflmatory against the feet of white male rays and to determine at what concentration the gel preparation from suji leaf ekstract is good as an anti-inflamatory. The method of the study used experimental. The results of the study: The gel preparation of suji leaf extract works effectively as an anti- inflamatory because it can inhibit inflamation in the feet of male white wistar rats well and the concentration of carrageenan induction, which is at a concentration of 20%. Abstract

The wound is a physical injury that results in tears and damage to skin tissue. One type of wound is excision wound, excision wound is of the a wound that is caused by cutting tissue by sharp object scratches. The main goal in wound management is to achieve rapid healing with optimal function and good results. That can be achieved by preventing further infection and trauma with the availability of an environment that can optimize the healing of the wound. One plant that has the potential to heal wounds is the paper petal plant. The purpose of thes study is to find out the effectiveness of giving paper petal extract to the healing of excision wounds in male rats. The study conducted in the Laboratory Health Institute of the Deli Husada Deli Tua. The extracts formulated into ointment preparations with concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 20% then conducted evaluation of ointment preparations, namely organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, ph tests, visicosity tests, hedonic tests and spread power tests. The results of organoleptic tests and irritant tests of paper petal ethanol extract ointment preparations, all concentrations were declared good while in the most preferred hedonic test was a concentration of 10%. From the results of the spread test is a concentration of 15% with a static test value on the 21st day which is 6.3000 where this value is equal to the value of povidone iodine, while in the pH test on the 21st day the concentration that sees the best statistic test value is 10% concentration with a value of 6.4467 which is close to the value of povidone iodine which is 7.3133. The results of the study is each treatment group experienced a decrease in the diameter of the cut wound. Of the 5 treatment groups, the best reduction in the diameter of the cut wound was the positive control group (povidone iodine) and the 20% concentration where the statistic test value on the 15th day was 0.0000 where this value was equal to the value of povidone iodine.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with chronic characteristics of hyperglycemia with metabolic disorders of carb, fats, and proteins. Therapies using synthetic drugs require a substantial amount of money and are having these side effects that encourage people to begin shifting into the traditional treatment of bandotan leaves. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of bandotan leaf ethanol extract can reduce blood sugar levels compared to glibenclamide drugs. Method: The method used is the experimental method. The sample was extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol sailor. Testing for antidiabetic effects was carried out on 15 male white rats divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the first group negative control (CMC Na 0.5%), the second group positive control (glibenclamide), the third group dose 126 mg / BB Kg, 4th group dose 252 mg / Kg BB, and group 5 dose 378 mg / Kg BB. The results were tested using the ANOVA method. Result: Based on this study, the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves at a dose of 126 mg / Kg BB, 252 mg / Kg, and 378 mg / Kg BB gave a decrease in blood sugar levels. the administration of bandotan leaf extract with a dose of 378 mg / Kg BB gave the same effective results as the glibenclamide drug while the negative control group (CMC Na 0.5%) was not effective in lowering blood sugar levels. Conclusion: Bandotan leaf ethanol extract has the effect of decreasing blood sugar levels which are almost the same as glibenclamide drugs in male white mice induced with alloxan.

Abstract

Counseling on the efficacy of the bark of salam which aims to provide benefits about healing diarrhea at the Patumbak Public Health Center in one of the Deli Serdang districts aimed at children aged 6-17 years, by applying promotive and preventive nature through planning, mobilization, implementation, monitoring , control and appraisal. Counseling on the efficacy of the bark of salam at the Public Health Center of Patumbak, Deli Serdang Regency is aimed at increasing understanding to children aged 6-17 years, as well as parents who accompany their children, so that they can identify the symptoms of diarrhea, so that it can prevent or treat it, and malaise. - children and their parents can know the importance of monitoring their children's diet, which is healthy, which parents must take care of. Counseling will be carried out in a lecture style with conditions with discussion and brain storming that stimulates the counseling atmosphere. The evaluation of the activities was assessed from the support of the Patumbak Health Center, the timeliness of implementation, the facilities used, the number of participants who attended the counseling and the participation of the participants. Counseling participants were invited to express opinions, especially the problems faced at the Patumbak Health Center regarding anti-diarrhea so that solutions could be sought together. The results obtained from children and their parents after receiving counseling can understand well the benefits of counseling from the Patumbak Public Health Center regarding the use of the benefits of bay bark for healing. knowledge of the importance of health for their children, Families are willing to provide education and enthusiasm about the importance of the benefits of using bay bark, Parents of children and children aged 6-17 years after receiving counseling can understand well the benefits of counseling from the Patumbak Public Health Center regarding the utilization of the efficacy of the bark of salam for antidiarrheal disease in children aged 6-17 years, which has been described in their minds as just eating delicious food but not necessarily healthy for the body for all children. However, after following the counseling, children – children aged 6-17 years d can understand more fully the benefits of counseling. Community Health Center cadres, who have been providing services to children only in moderation, can change well by providing innovative promotions.
