Abstract

This study highlights the urgent need to empower the youth generation to actively engage in the international community in addressing sustainability challenges. Issues such as climate change, social inequality, and food security require innovative solutions driven by young people. This community service initiative was designed to enhance youth participation through education, collaboration, and digital engagement. The program was conducted virtually via Zoom and involved participants from Sriwijaya University, Indonesia; Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan; and ENS Lyon, France. The primary objective of this initiative was to equip youth with essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for contributing to sustainable development. The methodology employed included online workshops, interactive discussions, and collaborative projects focusing on sustainability practices. During the implementation phase, participants engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions, case study analyses, and social media campaigns to promote awareness and collective action. The results indicated that youth empowerment through targeted training and cross-border collaboration significantly enhances their capacity to address global issues effectively. The program demonstrated the role of digital technology and international networking in fostering sustainable practices among young individuals. Future initiatives should expand to include more diverse participants and incorporate hands-on community projects to further strengthen youth contributions to global sustainability efforts.

Abstract

With the rapid advancement of digital technology, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) face both challenges and opportunities, particularly in emerging and disadvantaged economies. This case study explores a community-driven initiative designed to enhance the entrepreneurial capacity of MSMEs located around the Final Disposal Site (FDS) II Karya Jaya in Palembang, Indonesia, by integrating digital skill development with market adaptability. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, thirty microenterprises—predominantly women-led—participated in a series of digital marketing workshops emphasizing problem-solving and co-design. Over twenty hours of training, participants developed entrepreneurial mindsets and competencies in social media and e-commerce, digital payment systems, branding, and packaging design. Observations indicated that 86.67% of participants demonstrated greater awareness of digital marketing tools, and 90% expressed increased confidence in their use. Follow-up monitoring with 22 participants revealed a 20% improvement in online visibility, engagement, and product identification. Beyond individual skill enhancement, the initiative strengthened social capital by fostering peer learning networks and cultivating local leadership, essential for sustainable community transformation. This initiative illustrates the transformative potential of digital empowerment practices to narrow the digital divide, enhance entrepreneurial resilience, and support inclusive and equitable economic growth. It aligns closely with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty) by improving livelihoods, SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) via skill-based entrepreneurship, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through digital inclusion, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by integrating marginalized groups into the digital economy. Collectively, these outcomes demonstrate how digital literacy and community collaboration can accelerate sustainable development in disadvantaged urban areas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence cash waqf in Palembang City. This research was conducted in Palembang City with an unknown population, so we used Lemeshow formula to decide the respondents who did a cash waqf and were obtained by distributing questionnaires. Multiple linear regression is used in this study. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that simultaneously all independent variables such as income, education, technology or media information, and religiosity have a positive and significant effect on cash waqf. Partially income, technology or media information, and religiosity have a positive and significant effect on cash waqf, while education has a positive but not significant effect. The results of this study are expected to encourage the potential of cash waqf to increase economic growth. Although cash waqf is not an obligation, special regulations in the form of cash waqf recommendations, especially for workers, are expected to encourage someone’s interest in doing cash waqf.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of investment, ZIS funds, and mudharabah financing towards Indonesia’s economic growth during the period 2011-2021. This study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis of monthly time series data. The results showed that investment realization has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, following Schumpeter’s theory which highlights the role of investment in encouraging economic activity. Meanwhile, the distribution of ZIS funds has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth with 0,7127 p-value, due to a lack of public trust in zakat amil institutions in Indonesia. Which caused a lack of ZIS funds to be distributed in encouraging economic growth. Mudharabah financing also has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth with 0,5224 p-value, due to a small value of financing and low public interest in applying for mudharabah financing. It is hoped that the results of this study can become a basis for strengthening the role of Islamic economics, especially ZIS and mudharabah towards economic growth in Indonesia and improving people’s welfare.
