Abstract

The mastitis in dairy cattle is caused by Staphylococcus aureus. The bacteria are multiresistantto antibiotic. Isolated of Aloe barbadensis Miller, that has antibacterial, saponin is needed to replacesynthetic antibiotic. The research has conducted to tested antibacterial activity of saponin for thegrowth of Staphylococcus aureus.Saponin was exstracted from gel of Aloe vera leafs by 95% ethanol, 50% ethanol and nbutanol.Isolated of saponin used to the Coulom Cromatography and Thin Layer Cromatography. Itneeds ?Liebermann-Burchad? reagent, acetic anhidryde and sulfuric acid (1:1:1:1) for identifyingof saponin. These saponin preparation were detected by short wave U.V lamp on silica gel G platesdeveloped with solvent of butanol-ethanol-water (2 : 4: 4). The saponin?s powder was produced bydrying process, amylum or dexstrin as kinds of filler. The ratio of saponin and dexstrin was 80% :20%. Six levels of saponin were used in experiment i.e : 1,5%; 3,0%; 6,2%; 12,5%; 25% and 50%.The parameters of the research were Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) and cakram disk.The result of experiment was analysed with descriptively, penicillin was used as positive control.The saponin?s powder give antibacterial activity that higher than saponin?s concentrated. Therewere similarity in antibacterial activity between the saponin?s powder was added dextrin withpenicillin.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the mengkudu meal as natural feed aditif for quality increase of layer ration especially is dry matter, organic matter and mineral; nitrogen balance and biologis digestibility of ration.             The material was used in this experiment five teen layer hens, in eighteen months old, devide into five groups treatment namely P0 (0%), P1 (0,5%), P2 (1,0%), P3 (1,5%) and P4 (2,0%) of mengkudu meal in ration. Individual cages and force feeding methods for used in this treatment. The quality of ration and nutrient in feces was analyzed by procsimat (AOAC, 1996).             The result of this research: mengkudu meal as natural feed aditif have effect not significan't for quality increase of layer ration. Based on value of each variable on quality ration, mengkudu meal give quality increase up to 1,5% added in ration; and it was decrease total price of ration.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh penambahan tepung buah mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) terhadap presentase lemak abdominal, kadar kolesterol dan lemak tidak jenuh dalam darah ayam pedaging. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa penambahan tepung buah mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) sebagai feed additiv tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap presentase lemak abdominal dan kolesterol darah, tetapi berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kadar lemak tak jenuh darah ayam pedaging.

Abstract

The saponin&rsquo;s powder was produced by drying process, amylum or dexstrinas kinds of filler. The ratio of saponin and amylum or dexstrin was 80% : 20%. Abstract

IDENTIFIKASI PENYAKIT PADA PEDET PERAH PRA-SAPIH DI PETERNAKAN RAKYAT DAN PERUSAHAAN PETERNAKANIdentification Of Pre-Weaning Calf Diseases On Smallholder And Industrial Dairy Farming Imbang Dwi RahayuJurusan Produksi Ternak, Fakultas Pertanian PeternakanUniversitas Muhammadiyah MalangEmail: imbangdwirahayu@yahoo.comABSTRACTCalf status health is a critical factor in dairy farming. Factors that could disturbed the health of pre-weaning calves are infectious caused by bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and parasites; and non infectious: poor management and environment factor. The most infectious were: diarheae, navel infection, bloat, wormy, and pneumonia. This research has conducted to: 1) identified diseases in pre weaning calf based on symptoms, 2) act of curing in pre-weaning calf, 3) act of preventing, 4) improving raising management. Research was done based on survey method in two steps, first, quisionair distribution to farmer to get morbidity and mortality rates. Then continued by secon steps was observation on dairy farming industry to identified kind of diseasses. Result showed that moratality rate was very high: 48 from 245 calves (19,59%). Kind of dominant diseases were (61,73%), pneumonia (25,61%), navel infection (4,22%), infection post-horn (4,22%), and limping of foot (4,22%). Besides diseases as mention before, abses, enteritis, conjungtivitis were also could identified. Antibiotics (ceftiofur), antihysthamine (diphenhydramin HCl), vitamine A, Cholecalciferol (Vit D3) and Vitamine E were the veterinary drug that usually used. For pneumonia and navel infection, dexamethazone was added. The act of prevention by disease is by sanitation and vaccination management repair.Keywords: diseases, pre-weaning, mortality rate.ABSTRAKKesehatan pedet merupakan faktor penting dalam usaha peternakan sapi perah. Gangguan kesehatan pada pedet perah pra-sapih disebabkan oleh dua faktor, yaitu faktor infeksius, meliputi bakteri, virus, protozoa dan parasit, serta faktor non infeksius yang berua keslahan manajemen dan faktor lingkungan. Gangguan kesehatan yang paling sering terjadi adalah diare, infeksi tali pusar, bloat/kembung, cacingan dan radang paru-paru (pneumonia). Tingkat kematian pedet pra-sapih pada peternakan rakyat relatif masih tinggi. Tujuan khusus penelitian adalah: 1) identifikasi penyakit pada pedet pra-sapih berdasarkan gejala-gejala penyakit, 2) tindakan pengobatan penyakit pada pedet pra-sapih, 3) tindakan pencegahan penyakit pada pedet pra-sapih, 4) perbaikan manajemen pemeliharaan.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei, melalui dua tahap, yaitu Tahap I, penyebaran kuisioner ke peternak guna memeroleh data tingkat morbiditas dan mortalitas pedet perah pra-sapih. Tahap II, pengamatan langsung ke perusahaan peternakan, untuk identifikasi penyakit yang menyerang pedet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa angka mortalitas pedet pada peternakan rakyat torgolong tinggi, yaitu sebesar 48 ekor dari 245 ekor pedet sampel penelitian (19, 59%). Kejadian penyakit yang ditemukan di perusahaan peterrnakan meliputi : diare (61,73%), pneumonia (25,61%), infeksi tali pusar (4,22%), infeksi post potong tanduk (4,22%), dan pincang (4,22%). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah bahwa penyakit pada pedet perah pra-sapih yang berhasil diidentifikasi adalah diare, pneumonia, infeksi tali pusar, infeksi setelah potong tanduk, pincang, abses, enteritis, radang mata. Pengobatan penyakit yang diterapkan berupa pemberian antibiotik berupa ceftiofur, antihistamin berupa diphenhydramin HCl, vitamin A, Cholecalciferol (Vit D3) dan Vitamin E, serta penguat otot dan transportasi. Pada pneumonia dan infeksi tali pusar ditambahkan obat anti radang berupa dexamethazone. Tindakan pencegahan penyakit yang dilakukan adalah sanitasi dan vaksinasi, dan perbaikan manajemen.Kata Kunci : penyakit, pedet pra-sapih, tingkat kematian
