The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a contemporary issue of global concern, and an exploration of them is urgently needed in the current era. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the SDGs by focusing on analyzing the effect of malnutrition on economic productivity in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries. The methods used in this study are Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square (FMOLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Square (DOLS). This is used to analyze how much long-term influence is formed. The data used is panel data of 35 OIC member countries from 2001 to 2022 and is divided into several model categories, namely low income, lower middle income, upper middle-income and high income countries models. The results show that in the long run, malnutrition has a significant negative effect on economic productivity and the largest effect is on countries in the lower middle-income category.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in producing a generation that is not only outstanding in religious aspects but also economically independent. However, many Islamic boarding schools still face limitations in optimally managing their economic potential. Therefore, this activity aims to enhance students' capabilities in entrepreneurship and business management. This initiative is designed as a training programme focused on creative and digital economy-based entrepreneurship, business management, and the optimisation of pesantren resources. The methods employed include theoretical training, hands-on practice, and ongoing mentoring to enable students to develop and manage businesses independently. This training creates a sustainable business ecosystem within the boarding school, enhances students' entrepreneurial skills, and increases the number of productive business units that can serve as income sources for the boarding school. Through this training, positive impacts are generated, including the enhancement of students' entrepreneurial knowledge and the management of Darul Fikri Islamic Boarding School, enabling the school to become a model of an economically independent boarding school and to contribute positively to the surrounding community.

Abstract

Research Originality: This research prioritizes a more in-depth analysis of OIC member countries with different income categories. The research also focuses on developing a more robust and integrated modeling framework that can capture the dynamic interactions between inflation, economic growth, and food production. Research Objectives: This study investigates the impact of economic growth and inflation on food production in both the short and long term. Research Methods: This study uses panel data from 40 OIC member countries from 1992 to 2021. This study employs Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) and categorizes OIC member countries based on income classifications: High-Income, upper-middle, lower-middle, and Low-Income countries. Empirical Results: The findings indicate that economic growth and inflation substantially impact food production over the long term. Certain countries exhibit a beneficial impact, whereas others demonstrate a detrimental effect. Implications: This research can provide new insights into the complex relationship between macroeconomic indicators and food availability, and it can be used to inform policymaking recommendations. In addition, the findings can support policymakers in formulating more effective strategies to shift policy towards sustainability.
