Abstract

AbstractThis article chronicles recent efforts to maintain Balineselanguage instruction in Balinese schools in response to the2013 National Curriculum, which was to replace the formerCompetency-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum BerbasisKompetensi). The new curriculum aimed to integrate locallanguage instruction into the module for ‘local content/artsand culture’ (muatan lokal/seni budaya). It is important tonote, however, that Balinese were not alone in reacting tothe ‘disappearance’ of regional languages from the draftCurriculum for 2013. Rather, their desire to ensure thecontinuity of instruction in Balinese found parallels in otherregions — such as Central Java and Sundanese-speakingparts of West Java — where similar struggles were afootto uphold the teaching of local languages. It was fearedthat the younger generation would increasingly abandonregional languages should they no longer be taught inschools. Having laid out some of the consequences thatwould follow from abandoning the teaching of Balinese inschools, the article concludes with a series of suggestionstoward the preservation of the Balinese language.

Abstract

A holistic understanding of the side effects of chemical drugs, stimulating this era's humans to engage in contemplative movements, using ancient literature to maintain sanitation, physical health and mental health. Taru Premana is the philanthropic mission of Mpu Kuturan to create Hindu people as well as a healthy Bali environment. So, to realize the human mission, humanistic practice begins, to find a variety of herbal medicines. The research aims to analyze the Lontar Taru Premana, by looking for a link between health practices and the stimulation of subjects in the preservation of the environment. The research uses a qualitative approach or specifically applies textual studies to undermine searches and reconstructive efforts in understanding the texts of the art of traditional medicine of Bali. The technique of collecting Taru Premana manuscripts as a source of research data is obtained from the process of accumulating ancient writings dealing with traditional medicine. Further, it is analyzed using literary studies as well as philological studies. The compendium on traditional health science taught in Taru Premana is explained specifically in the processing techniques of traditional ingredients, their manufacturing processes and their application, such as bearing, spraying, patching and fixing. The Taru Premana manuscript has an interpretation in other aspects, namely as a symbolization of the internalization of the values of social-religious life. This lontar is an argument for the harmonization of man with his environment, and gives the scheme that man is not a determining entity, but an individual and a cosmic entity forming a typology of dependency. Taru Premana as a means of balancing the existence of humans and the environment (praja dan kamadhuk). In other words, man without the presence of nature is meaningless, because the process of life becomes stopped because of the nullity of the supporting life. Lontar Taru Premana plays an important role in the spiritual, social and ecological reality of the Bali Hindu community, as it applies traditional techniques and ecologic balance.

Abstract

The Chipko Movement represents an ecological movement initiated by a group of Indian women, driven by the activities of forest environmental destruction. This effort then transformed into an environmental advocacy movement. This practice has the same linearity as the Balinese Hindu community. The way to implement the local community's version of cosmology is through saput poleng (a black-and-white cloth) and the internalization of the Mother Earth concept. The aim of this research is to analyze environmental preservation initiated by local movements, thereby contributing to ecological practices. This research applies the method of intertextuality by analyzing the Chipko Movement and saput poleng. Chipko Movement is interpreted as an affirmation of women as individuals who share responsibility in preserving the environment. This reality is seen from the consistency in protecting forest areas from logging activities. This movement is also implemented in actions to preserve land and forests, as forests and land are considered substantive components of society. The Chipko Movement represents a form of social struggle by the local population, which then transformed into ecological awareness to protect forest areas. The movement has a correlation with saput poleng in Bali, as a way to protect vital areas such as forests by wrapping cloth with circular patterns, with the aim of preserving the ecosystem as a central arena in human life. Wrapping the linear saput poleng with a vision of environmental preservation based on matrilineal principles, emphasizing that women become agents with an extension as tummerfrauen. In conclusion, the Chipko Movement and saput poleng, with differentiated loci, share the same typology, namely associating nature as the personification of mother.

Abstract

Fraudulent activities, driven by both desire and opportunity, pose significant risks to organizations, leading to financial losses and undermining ethical standards. This study examines a moderated model of internal control on organizational ethical behaviors, mediated by mindfulness and spirituality. The proposed model was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS3, with survey data from 32 religious state universities in Indonesia. The findings indicate that internal control structures enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, the reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with laws and regulations at State Religious Universities in Indonesia. Internal control effectiveness mediates the relationship between internal control structure and organizational ethical behavior. Furthermore, organizational awareness and spirituality moderate the relationship between internal control structure and internal control effectiveness, as well as organizational ethical behavior, elucidating the conditions necessary for an effective internal control structure to achieve good university governance.
