Abstract

Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba) merupakan jenis alternatif pengganti jelutung dan pulai yang ketersediaannya semakin berkurang sebagai bahan baku dalam pembuatan pensil. Tujuan penelitian adalah pengaruh penjarangan dan lokasi terhadap pertumbuhan tegakan jabon di berbagai lokasi di PT. Lestari Mahaputra Buana Padalarang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Lokasi penelitian berada di ketinggian 347 – 405 mdpl dan suhu rata-rata 31,35˚C. Hasil pengamatan tentang sifat fisik tanah adalah struktur tanahnya berbentuk gumpal bersudut, tekstur tanahnya lempung liat berdebu (silty clay loam), Bulk density berkisar 1,18 – 1,28 g/cc, kadar air tanah berkisar 24,62 – 28,94 dan permeabilitas tanah berkisar 0,64 – 0,82 cm/jam. Perlakuan penjarangan berpengaruh nyata (taraf 95%) pada peubah diameter setelah 2 bulan (0,58 cm) dan setelah 4 bulan (0,66 cm). Faktor lokasi dan interaksi (perlakuan dan lokasi) tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tegakan jabon di semua peubah (tinggi total, tinggi bebas cabang dan diameter). Abstract

A biodegradable seedling container was developed to minimize plastic waste in the field during post-mining land revegetation activities. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the physiological response and growth of Samanea saman grown in a biodegradable seedling container filled with post-silica mined soil media. A factorial experimental design was used with two factors, namely (1) basic raw materials, namely recycled newspaper, compost, and cocopeat, and (2) size of raw materials, including 5 mesh, 10 mesh, and 8 mesh. The parameters measured were photosynthetic rate, leaf greenness index, transpiration rate, height, and diameter of S. saman seedlings. The results showed that the interaction between the composition and size of basic raw materials of the biodegradable seedling container significantly increased the photosynthetic rate, leaf greenness index, transpiration rate, height, and diameter of seedlings. There was also a positive correlation between the rate of photosynthetic and leaf greenness index (r = 0.838). Furthermore, the C/N ratio of the biodegradable pot varied depending on the composition of materials used. After two months, the C/N ratio decreased, indicating that decomposition processes had occurred. Analysis of the biodegradable seedling container showed that it contains less than 0.08 mg Pb kg-1, which was considered a non-toxic element for plant growth.

Abstract

Kerusakan bibit dalam pengangkutan sering terjadi pada bibit yang menggunakan kontainer (polybag, potray, dan sebagainya), terutama pada saat penyusunan bibit ke dalam alat angkut, selama perjalanan, pada saat bongkar dan pada saat distribusi bibit ke lubang tanam. Salah satu solusi mengatasi masalah kerusakan bibit dalam pengangkutan adalah dengan menggunakan bibit akar telanjang. Penggunaan bibit mahoni yang disemai pada media cocopeat dapat dijadikan bibit akar telanjang dan diharapkan dapat menjawab permasalahan selama pengangkutan dari persemaian ke lokasi penanaman. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh umur bibit mahoni (pada media cocopeat di persemaian) dan lama penundaan waktu tanam (bibit akar telanjang) terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman mahoni. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial (RALF) dengan dua faktor yaitu umur bibit dan lama penundaan waktu tanam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan tanaman mahoni yang berasal dari bibit akar telanjang dipengaruhi oleh faktor umur bibit dan interaksi umur bibit dengan lama penundaan waktu tanam. Perlakuan umur bibit yang tua (5,5 bulan) menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang lebih baik dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. Penundaan waktu tanam hingga 6 hari masih diperbolehkan karena dapat memberikan respon pertumbuhan yang baik. Abstract

Bogor Botanical Garden (KRB) is an ex-situ plant conservation area with many plant types that dominated by tree. One of the family of trees collected in KRB is the Fabaceae family. This research aims to estimate the level of crown health condition in Fabaceae family in KRB using forest health monitoring (FHM) method. A total of 44 trees were observed using crown condition parameters to gain the visual crown rating (VCR), crown size index (CSI), and crown damaged index (CDI). This research showed that Fabaceae family in KRB reveal the VCR score of 6, indicated the medium health crown condition of tree. Thus, this research shows that most of the Fabaceae family’s tree at KRB are categorized in medium crown damaged rate. Abstract

Dipterocarpaceae dominate plants of tropical forests, and their wood is exploiting until it's been rare plants. Conservation through generative propagation has several problems, and vegetative propagation then being as an alternative. This study has two purposes that to understand the history of distribution of Dipterocarpaceae and do research about the development of vegetative propagation techniques that apply for Dipterocarpaceae. This study was using a systematic review method. Commonly, vegetative propagation techniques that have been applied are cuttings and culture in vitro but other vegetative techniques have not to use yet. Research on the vegetative propagation of Upuna and Parashorea has not been available. Cutting is the most propagation technique used and has a good effect on several species of Dipterocarpaceae. Abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and biodegradable pots are environmentally friendly and enhance plant growth in adverse soil conditions. These studies explored AMF interactions and biodegradable pots in physiology, growth, and the uptake of nutrients in Samanea saman seedlings. The present research interactive effects of biodegradable pots with different compositions and raw material sizes with and without AMF inoculation on S. saman grown in silica post-mining soil media. Results indicated AMF inoculations significantly improved leaf chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, heights, diameters, biomass, as well as nutrient absorption of S. saman as compared with non-inoculated plants in biodegradable pots. AMF and biodegradable pots composed of 15% used newspaper, 70% compost, 5% cocopeat, and 10% rock phosphate showed the best results and increased the leaf chlorophyll content, photosynthesis rate, height, diameter, and total biomass of the plants by 161.1%, 208.7%, 263.6%, 118.1%, and 269.9%, respectively, compared to biodegradable pots composed only of used newspaper. Additionally, uptake of the nutrients nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, and magnesium increased by 365%, 800%, 369%, and 250%, respectively. By the fourteenth week after transplanting, the C/N ratio of the organic pot decreased significantly. Thus, AMF and biodegradable pots containing compost and rock phosphate interact positively and enhance the growth of S. saman under adverse soil conditions. These findings suggest that biodegradable pots containing compost and rock phosphate show potential as more environmentally friendly replacements for plastic bags (polybags) as growth medium containers for seedling production.

Abstract

Kebun Raya Bogor (KRB) menarik banyak pengunjung setiap hari. Tingginya jumlah pengunjung ini menjadikan aspek keselamatan di dalam area KRB sangat penting untuk diperhatikan oleh pengelola. Deteksi dini terhadap kerusakan pohon diyakini berperan krusial dalam meminimalkan risiko serta menjaga lingkungan tetap aman. Forest Health Monitoring menyediakan informasi yang dapat membantu pengelola dalam menentukan strategi pemeliharaan dan perawatan pohon yang tepat. Penilaian kesehatan pohon dilakukan dengan mengevaluasi kerusakan pohon, yang meliputi lokasi, jenis, dan tingkat keparahannya. Berdasarkan hasil pemantauan, nilai Indeks Kerusakan pada Klaster 3, 5, dan 6 adalah 4,35; 4,55; dan 2,62, yang semuanya termasuk dalam kategori sehat. Jenis kerusakan yang paling umum ditemukan pada area koleksi liana adalah batang dan cabang yang patah atau mati, sedangkan jenis kerusakan yang paling jarang ditemukan adalah akar yang patah atau mati serta daun yang mengalami perubahan warna. Untuk menjaga kesehatan pohon dan mencegah kerusakan lebih lanjut, tindakan yang perlu dilakukan oleh pengelola mencakup pemangkasan, penyiraman, pemupukan, penyiangan gulma, serta pengendalian hama dan penyakit.
