Abstract

Kecepatan perkembangan teknologi dan Bahasa Inggris dalam dunia pendidikan mendorong pentingnya penguasaan bahasa Inggris bagi siswa sejak usia belia atau taman kanak-kanak (TK). Peningkatan kemampuan berbahasa inggris yang terbatas bagi Guru Taman Kanak-kanak (TK) mendorong kepedulian adanya pelatihan peningkatan berbicara bahasa Inggris bagi para Guru TK. Kegiatan pengabdian bertujuan untuk meningkatan kemampuan berbicara Bahasa Inggris melalui Gambar dan meningkatan kewirausahaan kepada Guru TK Dukuh I Dan TK Dukuh II Kecamatan Mojolaban Kabupaten Sukoharjo sehingga anak-anak dapat mengenal bahasa Inggris sejak dini dari Guru mereka. Populasi peserta dari pengabdian ini adalah Para Guru TK Dukuh I Dan TK Dukuh II di Desa Dukuh, Mojolaban, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, sedangkan peserta yang hadir adalah kepala sekolah bersama Guru TK Dukuh I dan II Sukoharjo. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah Ceramah, presentasi, tutorial, dan praktek dengan menggunakan gambar. Media pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan gambar dengan media yang sesuai untuk anak-anak TK, yaitu tokoh film kartun, animals, fruits, and vegetables, dan lainnya. Pengabdian dilaksanakan terdiri dari program peningkatan berbicara bahasa bahasa Inggris melalui gambar dan program kewirausahaan. Dampak pelaksanaan pengabdianantara lain Guru TK jadi lebih percaya diri dalam mengajar kewirausahaan dan berbicara bahasa Inggris kepada siswa didiknya. Disamping itu, proses penyampaian pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat disampaikan dengan metode yang tepat dan benar kepada siswa TK sehingga anak-anak senang dan menyukai bahasa Inggris sejak dini.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the application of creating stories in the teaching of writing a good English text and to know the most favorite media used by the fifth grade students at SDN Jombor 01 in writing an English text. The interesting teaching technique makes students easier to write a simple English text. The method used in this research is a qualitative. In this research, results and discussions are illustrated with the description. The results of English writing work are data taken at SDN Jombor 01 Bendosari Sukoharjo. Data collection is done by observation and documentation. Basically the implementation of creating stories can be done by picture series and bubble. Creating stories help students to write English stories then they present it in front of the class. The most favorite media used by the fifth grade students at SDN Jombor 01 Bendosari Sukoharjo is the picture series.

Abstract

The ability for beginning the lesson can encourage students’ interest and motivation earlier in learning. That view must be understood more by the students when they practiced in micro teaching subject. They were expected to apply it for training them in minimizes the use of mother tongue and maximize the use of target language. The aim of this research is to know the variation of classroom languages especially for beginning the lesson applied by sixth semester students in micro teaching practice. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data was collected by using observation and interview. The result shows that variation of classroom languages for beginning the lesson are still minimize and tend to be limited on certain terms. The most dominant type of classroom language used by students is greeting on using the term of “How are you”, the second one is the type of classroom language is register on using the term “who is absent today”. The last one is the type of time to begin on using the term “let’s start our lesson now.” The students never applied the other terms in their practice.

Abstract

Non-English students need specific efforts to improve their English ability. Each student has a different effort in learning English. The research aims to find out the kinds of students’ efforts in improving their English ability and the dominant English skill practiced by the students. Besides, the level of students’ effort is also investigated in this research. The subjects of this research cover 35 students in the first semester of the Faculty Of Public Health. Qualitative method was used in this research by semi structured interviews as the primary tools of data collection. The result shows that students’ efforts to improve their English skills are varies. Students try to improve their ability in English aimed to the purpose of speaking or communication. The level students' efforts are categorized into the substantive effort.
