Abstract

Understanding religious teachings well is a necessity; this will be achieved if the da'i/muballigh, as the deliverer of the da'wah message, has a good understanding of religious teachings, as done by Tuan Guru Haji (TGH) Shafwan Hakim. The strategic position of a da'i in the eyes of the community makes it very easy to color their thoughts and religious expressions. This study is a qualitative character study that describes moderation in da'wah; it is a study of TGH. Shafwan Hakim's thoughts on preserving Islamic moderation. The thinking of TGH. Shafwan Hakim in presenting da'wah in moderation must start with sense of moderate, da'wah material oriented to the benefit of the ummah, and preachers' understanding of their mad'u, methods, and media.

Abstract

The era of disruption has transformed the landscape of the television broadcasting industry in Indonesia, forcing it to adapt to the digital ecosystem in order to remain relevant. This study aims to analyze the existence of TVRI NTB in the era of disruption through the processes and forms of media convergence implemented. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods; data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis conducted with TVRI management, the news department, and the technical department. The results of this study indicate that TVRI NTB utilizes digital multiplatforms to disseminate its broadcast content to reach various age segments. In addition to analog/digital frequencies, TVRI NTB uses platforms such as Live Streaming (YouTube), social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), its website, and the Klik TVRI NTB app. This use of multiplatforms is part of the shifting media consumption culture that continues to be disrupted.  In disseminating content, TVRI NTB uses multiple platforms in accordance with the media divergence model to reach audiences who are not bound by time or place. Despite facing several challenges, TVRI NTB remains capable of maintaining its role as a public broadcasting media. The implementation of adaptive and innovative media divergence strategies is a key factor in maintaining TVRI NTB’s existence amidst the disruption of the broadcasting industry.            Keywords: Disruption, Broadcast Media, TVRI NTB, Divergence.

Abstract

The discourse on the integration of knowledge in Islamic Higher Education Institutions today often remains at the level of institutional and symbolic slogans, thus requiring critical philosophical and methodological examination. This study seeks to reread the position of Islamic communication within the Horizon of Knowledge paradigm of UIN Mataram by examining how this paradigm can serve as a foundation for the construction of integrative knowledge. Using a qualitative approach through library research and conceptual analysis, this study examines the integration of knowledge, Horizon of Knowledge, and the philosophy of Islamic communication studies through a critical-hermeneutic perspective. The findings indicate that Horizon of Knowledge is not merely an institutional identity but also a scientific paradigm grounded in integration, interconnection, and internalization, which positions revelation, reason, empirical experience, Islamic tradition, and modern theory within an integrated framework. Within this paradigm, Islamic communication studies are not understood merely in a normative sense within the dimension of da‘wah, but rather as an academic discipline with strong ontological, epistemological, axiological, and methodological foundations. This study concludes that Horizon of Knowledge offers a prophetic-integrative framework for the development of Islamic communication studies that is scientific, ethical, and transformative.

Abstract

In the digital era, Islamic preaching (da‘wah) has increasingly evolved through the interaction between established religious practices and modern communication technologies. This study examines Tuan Guru in Lombok who integrate digital media into their preaching strategies while maintaining traditional da‘wah practices, as well as the challenges arising from this process. Using a qualitative approach based on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), the study explores the experiences of seven Tuan Guru who have actively adopted digital tools in their religious outreach. While previous studies on digital da‘wah have largely focused on platforms and content strategies, this study offers new insight by highlighting the lived experiences of Tuan Guru in Lombok as they negotiate digital transformation while sustaining traditional religious authority and local cultural values. The findings reveal three main strategies through which traditional and digital preaching are combined: transforming sermon delivery, reconfiguring religious authority, and adapting local cultural values to digital contexts. At the same time, this integration is shaped by several constraints. The use of digital media for da‘wah remains limited by inadequate technological infrastructure, especially unstable internet access in many rural areas of Lombok, reducing the reach and consistency of online preaching activities. Moreover, the shift from individual preaching to team-based content production requires new forms of coordination and technical skills. Ethical concerns also emerge in maintaining the accuracy and authenticity of religious messages in fast-moving digital spaces. These findings show that Tuan Guru in Lombok must balance technological adaptation with preserving core religious values in their preaching practices.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought fundamental change to human life while simultaneously presenting complex ethical challenges: algorithmic bias, dehumanization, data misuse, and a crisis of moral accountability. Within the context of a plural and multicultural society, these challenges are not merely technical in dimension but also touch upon the realm of religious values, moderation, and social harmony as seen in various cases of generative AI-produced content (images, text, and synthetic audio) that have sparked religious controversy in Indonesia's digital space, ranging from representations of religious figures and symbols deemed inappropriate to fake sermons or fatwas generated by AI and circulated on social media. This research aims to analyze AI ethics through the lens of hadith by affirming moral responsibility as the foundation of religious moderation in the digital era. Using a qualitative approach with library research methods and hadith hermeneutic analysis, the study examines primary sources from the Kutub al-Sittah along with their commentaries (syarah), as well as contemporary literature on AI ethics and Islamic moderation. The findings show that the principles of AI ethics justice, transparency, accountability, beneficence, and non-maleficence share strong points of convergence with the values of the Prophet's hadith. The hadith on leadership accountability (HR. Bukhari-Muslim), the principle of lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār (HR. Ibn Mājah), and the hadith on itqan (HR. al-Baihaqi) not only provide an ethical foundation for AI development, but also affirm the principle of wasaṭiyyah (the middle path) as the basis for moderation in technology governance. The resulting Islamic AI Ethics framework offers moral guidance for developers, users, and regulators so that AI may contribute to universal benefit, avoid digital radicalization, and reinforce the role of Islam as rahmatan lil-'ālamīn.
